That's what I thought. Now I just have to find what triggered the reset... mike
-
That gets us back to the original question where all three values (Eto, Water Deficit Yesterday AND Irrigation requirement are the same. Aside from a major coincidence or a variables reset, how does that happen? mike
-
Just for a 24 hour period? I see where Eto is on a 24 hour scale, as is Water Deficit Yesterday. I thought that Irrigation Requirement would be cumulative. For example, starting from 0 and using completely arbitrary values for Et0: Eto = .125 and rain = 0 then Water Deficit Yesterday would be .125, and if water applied = 0 then Irrigation Requirement would also be .125. For the next day: Et0 = .182 but rain = .352 then Water Deficit Yesterday = -.170 (.182 - .352) and if still no water applied then Irrigation Requirement = -.045 (.125 + [ - .170]) For a 3rd day: Eto = .165 and rain = 0 Water Deficit Yesterday = .165 and if still no water applied then Irrigation Requirement = .120 (-.045 + 1.65) And for the 4th day: Eto = .155 and rain = 0 Water Deficit Yesterday = .155 but with .075" water applied Irrigation Requirement = .200 (.120 + .155 - .075) In fact, following several days of significant rain, Irrigation Requirement could show a fairly large negative. Or am I still not getting it? mike

Thanks. That explains how Evapotranspsiration and Water Deficit Yesterday should be the same as long as no rain has been reported by WeatherBug. For Irrigation Requirement to also be the same value as the other two would require quite a coincidence or a reset of the variables, right? mike
-
Absorption factor is 100%, water applied per irrigation cycle is 0.25" If I understand correctly, Evapotranspiration is a snapshot of the conditions at the time it is displayed, Yesterday's Water Deficit is the 24 hour average Evapotranspiration less any rain (number can be negative), and Irrigation Requirement is (Irrigation Requirement + Yesterday's Water Deficit - Water Applied). Irrigation Requirement is updated by Water Applied whenever an Irrigation - Cycle Complete is executed and by Yesterday's Water Deficit at midnight. mike
-
What, other than possibly Reset Variables, can cause Evapotranspiration, Irrigation Requirement and Water Deficit Yesterday to all contain the same value? I'm running version 3.3.10. mike

Is there a way to capture LED brightness commands in the Log? For some reason they never appear although all other commands appear to. I attached ( hope) a short log file which spanned the period where a program to set the LED brightness on two KPLs was executed.
-
More on the LED brightness issue: 1. Devices turning their load on to 6% happens only when adjusting LED brightness from a program. Doing the same operation from the device's page on the Admin Console does not cause the problem. At least, I've not been able to replicate it from the console. 2. Setting a device LED brightness from a program does not produce consistent results, brightness can vary. Setting the brightness from the device's page on the Admin Console always produces consistent results. mike

After doing a Restore Device on each device in the network there are still 6 devices which switch their loads to 6% and one which switches its load to 50% following a program which sets LED brightness for each device. Everything else with 3.3.8 appears to work perfectly. mike
-
It appears that doing a Restore Device and an Insteon Engine query on the two 2477Ds may have taken care of them. They haven't turned their loads on in response to a LED brightness command since. However, having a program set LED brightness on the 2477Ds causes one of the v.37 2476s to turn its load on. Varying the LED brightness from the Admin Console does not appear to cause any problems.
-
I installed 3.3.8 and reactivated two programs I have for setting LED brightness. The LED brightness on the different devices works much better than before but some devices are still turning their loads on to 6% brightness just as with 3.3.6. 6 of 12 2476D v.37, 1 of 7 2476D v.40 and 2 of 8 2477D v.40 turned their loads on in response to LED brightness commands. I'll vary the programs' content and do some testing to see if I can see any particular trend.

What is the latest irrigation module? Mine is Irrigation/ETo Module (23000). I remember some brief mention of providing more than one set of Irrigation Settings and data for people who have to deal with irrigation zones with differing soil retention characteristics and irrigation demands. Did anything ever come of that? mike
-
Thanks, that did the trick. mike

Let me see if I have this straight, once Irrigation Requirement reaches 0 it will remain there as long as Water Deficit Yesterday is negative? And Water Deficit Yesterday is increased by ET and decreased by Rain Today whenever it is updated? mike
-
Is it possible to control KPL buttons other than Main from a program? Specifically I need to be able to turn button C (or D, etc) on and off directly from a program. mike
-
Is there a reason why Weather Bug does not report a negative number for Irrigation Requirement? Right now my Irrigation Requirement is 0 and Water Deficit Yesterday was -1.3 inches. Tomorrow, after the midnight update, Irrigation Requirement will still show 0 instead of the actual value. I'm assuming the actual value is stored somewhere in the module. mike

Thank you very much. mike

How do I get a device into a scene as both a controller and a responder? mike
-
What is ISY Finder? When I updated to 3.3.6 I also downloaded the Java applet that allows the admin console independent of a browser. Now, every time I launch the admin console I also get this small window called ISY Finder that contains the IP address of my ISY. Is this normal or did I screw something up again? mike

Thanks Lee, when I double checked I noticed that when I installed the KPL, the device I removed was a 2477D (dual band). I guess it had been carrying more of the communication load in that node than I realized. I put it back on that node, replacing a 2476D and all is fine. Just to be safe I linked the 2477D to the KPL manually and then added it back in to the network using the "keep existing links" option. That found the KPL (the address label was correct) and added it to the network automatically. The only times I manually link anything is to make sure that a controller reacts when a responder is activated by its own switch. mike

I installed several new devices and one, a 2486D (6 button) can't be added. The attempt fails with the "failed to identify insteon engine" error. Since the device seems to be operating normally from the keypad, I'm wondering if the address label is wrong. The other new devices have all added and are working with the ISY just fine. Is there a way for an ISY 99i to detect a connected device and report its address? I would really hate to remove and return it if a simple address search could fix the problem. mike

I downloaded v3.3.6 and found that the firmware now displays as: Insteon_UD99 v.3.3.6 but the UI shows: Insteon_UD994 v.3.3.6. My equipment is the UD99 Pro. Is this something I should be concerned about? mike
-
Disregard my comment above re irrigation variables. I did an Irrigation - Reset Variables and the display now shows realistic values. mike
-
I just checked my weather module and see that Evapotranspiration, Irrigation Requirement and Yesterday's Water Deficit all had the identical value of -214748.352. I'm still running the V1 irrigation module. Again, firmware is 3.3.3, UI is 3.2.6 mike
