    ISY Locking Up

ISY 994i Pro v4.2.30 Have had an issue for about a year with my ISY locking up on occasion. Only happens about once a week or so but seems to be happening more frequently, thus my concern. Only pattern I can notice is it seems to happen just as I'm entering a control interface. For example, I observe the ISY is working (based on lighting changes in the house or something), then I access either the web interface (as user or admin), the Java interface, or use my MobileLinc. When it happens, I'll get no response from the respective interface I'm using at the time. From there I'll ping the ISY and get no response. Recovery is to unplug the ISY to reboot. This happened prior to my recent upgrade to v4.2.30 (don't recall what version that was). Any thoughts on what to check? Bill

    Replacing a PLM

Thanks for the quick replies. That was it; I had just plugged the PLM in and tried to restore. Everything back to normal. Bill

    Replacing a PLM

My PLM died two weeks ago and I ordered another. Hooked up the new PLM, restored it from the ISY, seemed to work fine. All of the devices show their status in the console, but most of the network isn't responding. Turn on/off a device from the console but nothing happens. Turn a light on/off but doesn't reflect in the console. A few devices work, but aren't reliable. My network was rock solid before the PLM went out. Is there a procedure I should be using to set the new PLM? Thanks, Bill
  4. Hello again! Was there any resolution to this? Shortly after creating my original post, I upgraded to an ISY994 and the problem went away for me. Well, it's been a year with the new unit and it's happening again. I've deleted my Java cache, looked at events and programs; nothing out of the ordinary there. Thanks, Bill
  5. Is it possible, using the Network Module, to send the value of a variable to an external resource? For example, if I had a variable called "$myVar", could I somehow use that in the Path line, something like this: Thanks.
  6. Hello, I have several PHP scripts on a web server and would like to call them based on triggers from ISY. For example a ISY program may say: if: time is 10pm and Garage Door sensor is open then: execute script http://web_server/garage_open.php ...which would run the php script. Anything in ISY that could accomplish this? Maybe something in the Notifications that would help? Thanks, Bill
  7. I did a factory reset on the 994i and reloaded my previous backup, this time saying that I didn't want to reuse my network config. One thing interesting here, even though I said not to retain the network settings, they were still there. I still got the UUID errors in Firefox (after clearing java cache and restarting the browser), but switching to Safari seemed to work. From there, everything seemed fine. And after a few days of use on Safari, I tried Firefox again and it seems to be fine now as well. Thanks, Bill
  8. Installed my ISY994i upgrade replacing my ISY99i. Followed the instructions here: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... r_ISY-994i Made a backup, and restored it on the 994i; told it to use my original networking config. - I've used a Mac and Firefox to run Admin mode on my 99i with no issues in the past. Found the new ISY and was able to navigate and get to restore my backup. After the first reboot with the old config on the new box, I got the following error: The provided uuid does not match: / - Found a forum topic on this and followed the suggestions with no help (delete java cache, reload system). Gave up on the Mac and went to a Windows machine. Can't seem to get much to work there either. - Says that my NTP is invalid (set to pool.ntp.org). No issues getting out on the network. Set to a known good internal NTP server gives error: Request Failed - Synchronize Clock with Computer Time and Manually Adjust the Clock buttons both return errors: Request Failed - Trying to set location using the Locate Me button. Gives proper lat/lon but when I hit OK, it says: Invalid Logitude - Not sure what I hit to get this, but along the way, I got this dialog box: Error: [PLATFORM_ERRORS-7066] [iD 00B4: err=0, tag='id', num=22, nest=5, offset=10] [PLATFORM_ERRORS-7066] [iD 00A4: err=0, tag='id', num=22, nest=5, offset=10] - All my devices show up on the Main page, but nothing is showing status. Seems I am able to turn on/off lights from the interface. - Tried the diagnostics. Event Viewer, Show device link table are blank. Any thoughts why this isn't going so well? Bill EDIT: I removed the 994i and put my 99i back in place. Everything is running again. Will need to figure out what happened before I attempt a change again. Almost had a family revolt on my hands there for a bit ("Dad! Why aren't the lights working!?!).
  9. I too looked for some suggestions on naming conventions when I first started and couldn't find any either. For devices, I came up with was this: Room.XX.Description where: Room = is just that XX = device type - SD: Switchlinc Dimmer, SR: Switchlinc Relay, KP: Keypadlinc etc. Description = describes the fixture or function Examples: Bedroom.SD.Accents Basement.SR.Pantry Office.KP.Overheads For scenes, I use: Scene.Location.Description Examples: Scene.Basement.StairsOnOff Scene.GameRm.WallLights Scene.Chickens.CoopLight (yes, our chicken coop is Insteon enabled!) Would be interested in what others use for naming conventions. Bill
  10. Yes, if I turn on/off a device or scene in the admin console, it shows proper status change in the console. BS
  11. Did this late in the evening when utilization of my system would be low. Ran the event view for one cycle of the "System Busy"; no messages were displayed. Looked at the Program Summary tab and there were no programs running at the time. Also to note, I normally use a Mac to look at this. Just to test, I loaded the admin console on a Windows 7 machine. It does the same thing. I've let it go now for 5 cycles with no change. Thanks, Bill
  12. Thanks for the suggestion. I had no green icons. Cleared the Java cache and ran the link. It opened my admin console and immediately came up with the "System Busy" window. Thoughts? Bill
  13. Lately, every time I open my admin console, I get a dialog box with the title, "System Busy", with the text, "Please do not power off/unplug the system or make adjustments to linked/attached devices". It will take about 3 minutes to go to 100%, then it starts over again. Sometimes it shows data below the "Please..." line, but often times this line is blank. I let it go on like this recently, it cycled for over 3 hours before I shut the interface down. Currently using v3.3.10 on an ISY99i. Any idea why this is happening? Makes the admin console tough to use as this comes up constantly. Thanks, Bill
  14. Thanks for the suggestion. The error log revealed 48008 entries - every one of them saying I had DNS issues resolving datafeed.weatherbug.com! Updated my DNS server and everything took right off. Thanks again! Bill
  15. Hello, About two weeks ago, I rebooted my ISY99i. Since then, the climate module seems to have stopped working; all the values are 0. I tried disable/re-enable, changing weather stations, even another reboot, but the values are all 0. Any suggestions on how to diagnose this? Thanks, Bill
  16. Things are pretty much still working but having one oddity. Many of my motion sensors are fast blinking. They still seem to work fine, their LEDs are just strobing. What would cause this? Regarding the original issue, is a PLM Loosing its config something that happens from time to time? Bill
  17. Thanks LeeG. The PLM restore seems to have solved the problem (for now?). ISY is reporting switch activity and programs are responding to switches. Before I saw your note, I tried to put them all the sensors in link mode at the same time. As you noted, it didn't work! Doing them one at a time seems to be working. Thanks, Bill
  18. Thanks for the quick replies. It seems it's worse than I thought. The ISY isn't responding to any action from any switch (not just outbuilding, but whole installation). If I turn a switch on, ISY says it's off. I can do a manual query and will show the proper status. Motion detectors in the house also don't register on ISY. Will try a reboot and see what happens. I looked at the restore modem (PLM). So I have to put all my motion detectors and triggerlincs in set mode? That won't be fun Bill UPDATE: I rebooted the ISY and PLM. ISY reports it is connected to the PLM, but my issue remains. No reporting back from the switches. Also, all my sensors are in an unknown state to ISY.
  19. Hello, In addition to most of the switches in the house, I have an outbuilding that is also outfitted with Insteon and all controlled by ISY. This install has been in place for about two years with little to no issue. I have several programs that are invoked by switches in the outbuilding. In the last few days, these have all stopped working. If I run the Event Viewer and press any switch in the outbuilding, I get no activity. On the other hand, I can turn switches and scenes on/off from the ISY interface no problem. Not sure if it's helpful, but here's the event log where I turned off a switch in the outbuilding, then back on again from the ISY interface. 20. I changed the sensing mode and it's working just as I wanted it to. I can turn up the light now without it going back to it's programmed scene. Thanks for the suggestion. Bill
  21. Thanks for the suggestion. I upgraded my system to v3.3.8 and it seems to have fixed the problem. Appreciate everyone's help. Bill
  22. LeeG, Just saw your other note. My ISY version is v3.3.7. Output of the Query Insteon Engine output for that device is below. I compared the LED change events of my troubled device with those of others in the log and they look the same. Wondering why this particular one is the only one that turns on with a LED change. 23. OK, I've narrowed this down much further. Based on LeeG's comment regarding LED brightness, I looked at all of my programs relating to LED changes. I found that changing the brightness on this device will turn the light on every time. I can do this from a program or manually through the ISY interface. Here's what I did to test this: 1. Insure light is off. 2. From the ISY interface, change LED brightness from 255 to 254. 3. Light comes on! 4. ISY interface still shows light off. If I do a query, it shows on. 5. Can repeat steps above, does it every time. See a copy of the event log for when this happens. I send LED brightness changes to pretty much all my devices twice a day. For this area of the house, I've been doing this for the past year or so. This is the only one doing this and it just started within the last week. 24. Got a chance to catch this again this morning. Subject light comes on at exactly sunrise. Below is the full event view with the events that happened at sunrise. The events associated with the device in question (19.ED.3F) are highlighted in RED. Yes, I do have a bunch of LED changes all happening at sunrise. I looked at the log but it only has a few entries for this time. Let me know if there is something more we can look at.
