I do not get the choice of either the Administrative Console or the Dashboard. The app immediately opens up the Administrative Console for my local ISY994.

How do you get to the ISY994 Dashboard?
  3. Actually, the new garage door kit has a magnetic sensor as well. It works the same as window and door sensors in a security system. Anyway, I followed the instructions in the tutorial without changing any of the defaults for the scenes, and it appears that everything is working. Mind you, using the ISY, status only shows up as on or off, and you have no way of really knowing whether on is open or on is closed. That's not a problem for me because I have a camera that shows me whether the garage door is open or closed.
  4. bdw72, thanks for the tip. However, I'm not so sure that tutorial is up to date. I will explain. In a paragraph half way into the tutorial, it starts "If you wired the sensor according to the directions provided with the kit, you used the black and green wires from the reed switch." The current IOLinc only has white wires, and the two wires used to connect to the motor have no markings on them to differentiate. It then goes on to say " If you sensor is normally open then you need to enable the Trigger Off option in the I/O Linc options dialog to make it behave as if it was a normally closed sensor. Be sure the Relay is set to Momentary: A as this allows the relay to return to the off state after it triggers the garage door opener (after the Timeout)." This is followed by pictures of the Options dialog, the first of which (Last below) shows content a little different from the content of the second (Second below) as shown in the Garage_Door_Wiki_02.png file and the Garage_Door_Wiki_02_Updated.png file. However, neither of these really match the Options dialog that is presented for the Garage Door Opener Relay in the current interface, which is shown in the Dialog.png file (the first image below). So, I'm still somewhat uncertain as how to properly accomplish this.
  5. I have acquired and am installing the Insteon device described in the title of this thread. It consists of an Insteon 2450 IOLinc v.4.1 and a magnetic switch, along with the associated wires for the connections. SmartHome's instructions for this kit are miserable, especially if it is one's intention to control the device via an ISY (which is what I want to do). I have searched the UDI Forums for a topic that would explain the setup using the UDI Administrative Console with no luck, so I am asking if any user(s) here can explain to me the settings I need to configure in the Administrative Console. I have successfully added the device to the Administrative Console, which actually shows up as 2 devices in My Lighting: Garage Door Opener-Relay and Garage Door Opener-Sensor. Needless to say, the Current State for each is confusingly expressed in terms of either On or Off. Even more confusing is the fact that when the garage door is closed, the Garage Door Opener-Sensor says it is On. Any help that would be offered will be greatly appreciated.
  6. MIchel, thanks for the reply. I have tried doing what you suggest. The status line at the bottom of the screen shows "Busy" and the window that pops open says it is writing to the device. When it finishes, the little green icon is still next to the device and the controller which I have added thinks it can control the FanLinc but it does not. If what you say is the case, then why am I able to see the status using both the ISY Dashboard and the ISY Administrative Console, and also turn on and off the FanLinc?
  7. I have an Insteon FanLinc (identified in the title) that I recently decided to change the devices that controlled it. I was able to register the new controls using the ISY Administrative Console. However, no matter what I do the FanLinc shows that it is awaiting updates to be written to it. How do you do this?

I need to upgrade an ISY99 to an ISY994. Is there any program to do this, or do I have to go buy the new device outright at retail?
  9. GreyFox posted a topic in ISY994
I have recently had to replace my Insteon PLM used by my ISY to connect to the power line network. Following the instructions in this Forum, I did so and then did the Restore Modem command. Afterwards, a number of my non-battery powered devices are showing that changes are unable to be written to the particular device. I right mouse click on them and select Write Updates to Device. The interface goes through the motions of writing, and when it is done the status has not changed. Furthermore, now one or two of the devices are mysteriously being turned off even though there has been no command issued or program run that would cause the device to be turned off. What do I need to do in order to correct this situation? Thanks. GreyFox
  10. Michel, thank you very much!
  11. I have two houses that are hundreds of miles apart. Each house has an isy 994i, and each house has multiple echos and dots. I have just registered the second isy. I only have a single Amazon account with which the echos/dots are registered. My question is whether or not I need to change this to having multiple Amazon accounts in order to differentiate which isy that I am attempting to manage with the echos/dots. What do I need to do? Thanks.
  12. I am a long time user of Universal Devices ISY. I started with the 99 and have upgraded to the 994. My ISYs control Insteon devices I am also a user of the Amazon Dot/Echo devices. While I have taken the time to integrate the ISY/Insteon devices with my Elk alarm panel, I have yet to tackle the integration with the Dot/Echo devices. I see from poking around on the Internet that it appears that I am able to do this either by having the Dot/Echo device working directly with the ISYs, or working through my Mobilinc Pro app. My question is what are the pros and cons for either choice? Which works better? I am sure whichever path I follow it will be complicated. I have more than one house, and each house has more than one Dot/Echo device. It's a shame no one ever taught me that increasing the flexibility and power increases the complexity by the square of the flexibility and power increases.
  13. Well, I think I have an idea what the answer to my question is going to be, but I'm still going to ask it. Following the directions in the video, I click on Help in my ISY interface and select Purchase Modules. My browser pops open and I see a message that says my ISY has no modules installed, and there are no modules available for it. If I go to the About menu option, I see that my Product is an ISY 99i (1020), my UUID is 00:21:b9:00:e7:d4, my Firmware is Insteon_UD99 V.3.3.10, and my UI is Insteon_UD994 V.4.2.30. My expectation is that Universal Devices has left its long time users in the dust with no support for Echo integration. Hopefully, someone will tell me I am wrong and point me in the right direction.
  14. Thanks for the replies. Well, clearly I am in over my head. My security camera allows me to send a message either as HTTP/1.0 or as raw TCP/IP. I am attaching a couple of .png files, each one of which shows what data needs to be entered to configure this. So, I either need to lay my hands on some good documentation (I am not a programmer) or find someone to help me understand and configure this.
  15. I utilize security cameras to monitor people coming and going around my property. The cameras are high quality and quite sophisticated, and capable of creating various forms of alerts. I am interested in finding a way when one of the cameras detects motion and it is after dark, for it to cause certain of my ISY controlled Insteon lights to come on. It is my understanding that the cameras can cause an html message to be sent across a network. Would this work? Is there a more efficient way to accomplish this goal?

Has anyone attempted to do any programming in order to implement ISY integration with the Amazon Echo?
  17. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Shannong, if I understand you correctly you have two 4 conductor 22 AWG cables connected to an RJ45 plug on one end, and 5 of the total 8 conductors connected to the terminals in the furnace. You then make another 8 conductor patch cable of 22 AWG with one end terminated into an RJ45 plug and the other end gets connected (at least the 5 conductors that match the furnace side) to the wires leading to your thermostat. Am I correct?
  18. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Shannong, would you please provide a wiring diagram of your workaround, showing both a before and an after. Thanks.
  19. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Shannong, if the ISY software can change the temperature setpoint, which is set on the 2441TH by pressing a button, and the ISY software can change the mode which is set on the 2441TH by pressing a button, why can't the ISY software toggle the energy saving mode, which (theoretically) is set by pressing a button?
  20. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Excellent, shannong! However, I would expect that since there is no way in the 2441th to disable the energy saving mode, I would doubt that Universal-Devices is able to give us a way to disable it. However, Universal-Devices is able to give us a way to turn the energy saving mode on or off via the ISY. Hint, hint, Michel. And if they did that, we could programmatically have the ISY test to see if it is turned on, and if it is, to turn it off. I'm not holding out hope that SmartHome will give us any relief.
  21. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Shannong, thanks for the reply. Hopefully Michel and Universal-Devices will come to our rescue.
  22. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Shannong, it looks to me like the problem is that energy saving mode operates independent of the thermostat setting. It is similar to the functioning of thermostat calibration. The thermostat is constantly reading the ambient temperature, and the user is able to give it an offset by which demand for either heat or cooling is determined. The problem is that the thermostat does not change the set point that the ISY sees. Michel, Universal-Devices could really help things by incorporating a control for this stupid energy saving feature into the ISY interface. How about it?
  23. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
Michael, can you describe how exactly you changed this wiring. It seems to me you are risking combining the voltage of 24 volts from the furnace and 24 volts from the transformer. Also, how do you get an ISY program to run every 15 minutes? Thanks.
  24. GreyFox replied to MWareman's topic in ISY994
HVAC is Rheem/Ruud. I replaced my 4 wire thermostat wiring with 5 wire.
