A new 2441TH issue
Having created the program suggested by pgershon, I have been watching the behavior of my 2441TH. A few minutes ago, it activated the energy saving mode. In looking at the ISY interface for this device, there is no way to turn off or on the energy saving mode. It sure would be helpful if this could be added, as this would then allow me to programmatically regulate it as well. Any chance?

A new 2441TH issue
Shame on me for not reading the Forum before buying a new 2441TH. I have installed it in the past couple of days, and I am experiencing the same behavior as described by the rest of you in this thread: The energy saving mode turns itself on randomly, and the mode changes itself randomly as well. Based upon the collective comments of al of you, I have no doubt that the issue is entirely hardware/firmware, and has nothing to do with the ISY. It would appear that SmartHome has no interest in fixing its product. So, I have adopted the workaround supplied by pgershon - a pair of programs in the ISY to check that the 2441TH stays in the mode I have selected, and also holds the temperature I have selected. As an aside, I find their documentation totally lacking. For example, how do you turn Hold off and on? How do you turn the daily program on and off? I am also surprised that Universal Devices hasn't added to its GUI management of energy mode, set-backs, etc. for this device. So, my question is, before I jump from the frying pan into the fire, are all of these issues resolved with the Venstar T1800 combined with the Insteon adapter? With these two pieces installed, if I can connect to my ISY remotely, can I fully control the thermostat? Am I able to see somewhere what the ISY GUI control looks like? Are there other issues with the Venstar of which I should be aware?

Insteon Thermostat
I have just acquired a new Insteon 2441TH which I intend to control with my isy99. It has been my experience with my other Insteon devices, configuration upon installation is best done via the isy rather than by doing the linking, etc., using the set buttons of the various Insteon devices. Is this the case with the thermostat as well? My intent is not so much to link as it is to merely control set points and the like. Any tips?

New Insteon Motion Sensor 2420M
LeeG, thanks for the reply. Indeed, I did the things you pointed out. And there is only a single LED flash. But it turns out that I guess I was being impatient as it appears to have started working perfectly after a while being left alone. Problem solved. Thank you very much.

New Insteon Motion Sensor 2420M
Thanks for the clarification. I now have a new issue. The motion detector is supposed to be a scene controller the responder for which is a SwitchLinc 2477S. The SwitchLinc is controlling a pair of fluorescent lights, and it works just fine. I can toggle the switch on and off, and I can control it with the ISY. However, even though the motion detector sees motion (the red LED will flash), it does not send any signal to the SwitchLinc. Both of these devices were added to My Lighting in the ISY. I then created the scene, clicked and dragged the SwitchLinc as a Responder onto the scene, and clicked and dragged the sensor line of the motion detector entry to the scene as a controller. I guess I am missing something, but I don't know what it is. Can anyone enlighten me?

New Insteon Motion Sensor 2420M
I have just installed the above-captioned device, and it is not clear how to properly use the Administrative Console to manage this device. Specifically, when I added the device and it properly registered, there are 3 new items/icons in the My Lighting section of the Administrative Console. One is labeled Mud Room Motion Detector-Sens, one is labeled Mud Room Motion Detector-Dusk, and one is labeled Mud Room Motion Detector-Low (I entered the room definition). So my first question is why does a motion detector get 3 lines as opposed to a SwitchLinc, for example? My second question is are there functions specific to each of these three entries? If I click on the Set Options button, my options are the same regardless of which of the 3 items/icons I have selected. By the way, the icon for a motion detector is totally unlike the other icons in this window. Can you shed some light, please. Thanks. Gary

Just a follow-up so see if this enhancement has been implemented. My wife really wants to get rid of the "evil glow" in our bedroom. Thanks.

can't open the administrative console
Xpendable, which programs did you identify for the windows firewall to allow access?

Unable to launch the application
Xathros - I have tried your suggestion, but it makes no difference. I still get the same error when I use Michel's URL. Your URL got me the administrative console to connect to the ISY on premises. However, I have 2 other loctions with ISYs I have to manage, and I really would like to have the interface woirk the way it is supposed to.

Unable to launch the application
Michel - That doesn't work for me. See the start of this thread.

Unable to launch the application
Now I have another question. How do I add the other ISY's that are off my network so I can get to them via the admin console?

Unable to launch the application
Xathros - It worked like a champ. What do you suppose was the problem?

Unable to launch the application
I installed an update to Java earlier today, and now I am no longer able to launch the 99i administrative console from my desktop shortcut. If I open a browser and enter the ip address of the ISY, I have no problem getting to the administrative console. when I use the shortcut, I get an application error. If I click on the Details button, I get the following under the Launch File tab: 99i Administrative Console Universal Devices, Inc. Configuration Utility for ISY99i Series 99i Administrative Console urn:udi-com:device:X_Insteon_Lighting_Device:1 If I select the Exception tab, I get the following: JNLPException[category] at com.sun.javaws.security.JNLPSignedResourcesHelper.checkSignedResourcesHelper(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.security.JNLPSignedResourcesHelper.checkSignedResources(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareResources(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareAllResources(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) How do I fix this? I have tried uninstalling Java and reinstalling Java, but it makes no difference.

That would be awesome, Michel. I will be looking forward to this new release.

LEDs on the FanLinc 2475F
Is there a way to control the LEDs on a FanLinc through the ISY Administrative Console? There is a button for LED Brightness on the SwitchLinc Dimmer interface. I would thing there should be the same thing for the FanLinc.

Proper Implementation of an ISY
I have recently installed a new ISY in a home that had a bunch of previously installed Insteon devices, some of which had already been linked to each other via manual Insteon device linking. Of course, not all of the links show up in the Administrative Console. From reading and re-reading the documentation for the ISY I have come across the Note on Page 25 that says to avoid creating links manually and to instead create the links through the ISY. My question is, is there a way after the devices have been added to the ISY, within the ISY's Administrative Console, the get rid of all of these manually created links? Or do I have to go around to each device and manually unlink the device?

Initial Setup for ISY-Elk
Actually, I got it done using Internet Explorer. Anyway, the darn Elk is still not talking to the ISY-99i, nor is the ISY-99i talking to the Elk.

Initial Setup for ISY-Elk
Michel, I am quite sure that it has the correct IP address, at least insofar as connecting to it via IP address. I have not tried name resolution. But I connect to it repeatedly with ElkRP, and I have also used Internet Explorer using the IP address you see in one of my pictures, above, which is 10.254.253.30. I can also see this IP address in the ARP table of my router. The IP address, by the way, is set static. I also get to the M1EXP when I am off-premises using HTTPS (The certificate says it was issued by the M1EXP) because I have set up some NAT passthroughs on my router. Starting today and for the next 7 days, I will be off-premises and trying to figure out how to actually connect to both the Elk M1G and the ISY-99i. No doubt another challenge. Thanks again. I am grateful for whatever suggestions you may have. I'm really not trying to build the Shang-Ri-La of home automation. I just want lights to come on and go off, making it look like the place is lived in while I am absent (it's a vacation home), and have lights go on when the alarm system is breached so my cameras can see to photograph the intruder.

Initial Setup for ISY-Elk
Michel, thank you very much for your reply. Indeed, when I was trying earlier I was connected to the M1G with ElkRP. So I have tried again without having the ElkRP application open. The results are the same. I have verified that I sent the activation of the non secure port, 2101, to the M1XEP. I have verified that I have 5.2.4 on the M1g and I have 1.3.28 on the M1XEP. What can I try next?
