  1. I wasn't referring to the ISY skill but rather when using the connected home via the HA emulator... Chuck
  2. I like your style Michel... You folks are amazing and I truly wish you all the best! Chuck
  3. I'm curious what people are using for friendly names regarding A/V equipment such as DVR's, speakers, etc when setting up their emulator/connected home devices. This is presenting quite a challenge for me since many typical commands used to control my DVR for exmaple such as "Play", "Pause", "Volume Up", etc. are interpreted by Alexa as direct requests versus lighting API commands. So if I say Alexa, turn on Volume Up which corresponds to an ISY program to kick up the volume on my sound bar, Alexa simply turns up her own volume and ignores the request beyond that. Interestingly, when I set up trigger commands using IFTTT, I could use any word I like and Alexa would ignore everything beyond the trigger command and simply push it off to IFTTT. Any ideas on how to overcome this? Chuck
  4. Michel, Please forgive me if I came across the wrong way. I just was a little concerned that Connected Home support was a given, however it seems a little less certain going forward and I just wanted some clarification simce much of my buying decision was based on this expectation. That said, I understand there are many things beyond your control especially since a third party is involved. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that things go well and eventual approval is forthcoming. With warm regards, Chuck
  5. I was finally able to get the emulator running on my Windows VM thanks to my new friend huddadudda. What a kind man. He generously invested several hours/emails to help me out. Good karma for him ... This is such a great community! Thanks to everyone for all of your help... Chuck
  6. Thanks so much. I'm tired of messing around with getting this to work on my PC and may end up going this route...
  7. I'm attempting to run it on a Windows VM via Parallels on an iMac. That said, Windows firewall is totally disabled since I run a hardware NAT/firewall. Also made sure my network is shared via bridges mode and I can ping the VM from the host machine. The emulator seems to be running now without errors, however I get an error 404 when running the mapper utility... Chuck
  8. Thanks for the info. I was able to find this package on Amazon which seems to include everything I would need, any thoughts? http://www.amazon.com/CanaKit-Raspberry-Complete-Starter-WiFi/dp/B008XVAVAW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450592602&sr=8-1&keywords=CanaKit+Raspberry+Pi+2+Complete+Starter+Kit+with+WiFi Also, is a monitor required for set up or can it be done via remote? Thanks again, Chuck
  9. Well said Ron! I echo your sentiments... Chuck
  10. Now wait a minute here. Before you make bold assumptions, understand where I'm coming from here. Why would I invest in new hardware when I have a PC running 24/7, seems kind of wasteful doesn't it? Regarding learning anything new, those are your words not mine, I simply stated that I didn't want to have to learn a new platform just to get the emulator working. I'm all about constructive posts and frankly this doesn't strike me as constructive... Chuck
  11. I'm in your exact situation with a Windows 7 virtual machine running 24/7 and have spent several hours trying to get it working. I really don't want to invest in new hardware and another learning curve on a new platform if I can help it. Perhaps we can work together to figure this out? Chuck
  12. I genuinely appreciate the input. That said, I have a few concerns with going he RPI route. • It appears that the RPI has no enclosure but rather just a bare circuit board. Can you purchase it within an enclosure? • I don't currently have an extra port available on my router, can it connect via wireless? • How challenging is it to set up (many hours of configuring/finding software)? Thanks so much, Chuck
  13. Hello, I have invested many hours trying to get the hue emulator to work on a Windows 7 VM to no success. I desperately want to get this working and have followed several guides but keep getting stuck. Since my Windiws VM is already running 24/7 as a Plex server it doesn't make sense for me to go the RPI route. Can you offer any help or detailed Windows guides? I am so grateful for all of your help for the ISY community, Chuck
  14. Michel, With this new information, can I assume you will still be moving forward with Connected Home Certification? This was the major reason for me moving forward with multiple Echo's as well as purchasing the ISY portal... With warm regards, Chuck
  15. Question: How will programs be called by the skill? The reason I ask is that my programs have very unique names and can't possibly be fully covered in this list. Example: I have programs which launch TV stations like "Discovery Channel", how would this be handled by the skill? Chuck
  16. Thanks for all of your hard work and hope the next version will perform better for my needs. That said any idea when we might see connected home support. I'm just trying to get a sense of if we're months down the road or maybe just a few weeks? Thanks again, Chuck
  17. That did the trick, thanks!
  18. Thanks Paul, any idea how to factory reset my PLM?
  19. Thanks Lee, unfortunately I didn't follow the procedure correctly before reading this. I initially installed the new PLM while the ISY was still running and then did the modem restore. I suspect this is the root of my problems and have created orphan links between the old and new PLM because the network performance is very slow now with many scenes. That said, what is the best way to erase the new PLM and start fresh? I have an ISY backup file prior to doing this procedure. Also, why is it necessary to also restore devices? Thanks for your guidance, Chuck
  20. Sadly my PLM (2413s) died after about 2 1/2 years of service. That said, I purchased a new one and received it today. After plugging it in, I rebooted my ISY and promptly did a "Reatore Modem (PLM)". After completion, I noticed some issues. All of my battery powered devices, motion sensors and TriggerLinc's did not seem to update properly and my scenes no longer show specifics such as on level for each of the devices in the scene. I've also noticed that my ISY doesn't seem to be capturing the current state for certain devices. So, I decided to do a "Restore Devices", however my issues still remain. Any ideas as to what may have gone wrong or where I should go from here? Thanks, Chuck
  21. Wow! Thanks so much for the detailed information - this is a keeper. I'll file this away for future reference... Chuck
  22. Thanks for sharing. I was just trying to get a better understanding of when to use status vs control with these devices in my programs...
  23. I have a pretty good idea of how control vs status works in conjunction with physical switches, however I'm not sure how these commands apply to TriggerLinc's and motion sensors or if it makes no difference when used with these devices. I would appreciate some clarification on this topic... Thanks! Chuck
  24. Madcodger, Currently you CANNOT utilize more than one portal at a time. So it's either ML Connect or the ISY portal. I had the ML Connect portal installed prior to installing the ISY portal. As soon as I installed the ISY portal, the ML Connect portal disappeared. Best of luck, Chuck
