Google Home Hub

I've played around with Alexa a little bit. My main concern with it is on the Fire Devices I have to use my Amazon account. So if I used these devices around the house anybody using it can go into my Amazon account and go on a shopping spree. I've tried to make a fake family account within my Amazon account but the Fire won't associate with this account only my own. Am I missing something?
2. Looking through the forum this was mentioned under the Google Home thread.
3. Oh, I figured it out. When adding a scene in the ISY Portal, instead of categorizing it in Google Home Category as a "scene" call it a "light" and then it works fine and you can add the scene as a device in Google Home to the correct room. Perhaps it's a bug? Separately is there a way to update or add more devices in the portal once you attach to Google Home? It's a bit annoying to have to keep unlinking/relinking and then reassigning everything when you just want to add one device.
4. I have an issue I hope I can get some help with. I have Google Home set up with devices in two houses. The ISY is set up in Home2. Through the portal I can connect to the ISY and see the scenes. But when I try to add devices to room in Home2 it says "Couldn't update the setting. Check your connection". I can add them to Home1 but that's the wrong house. I can assign it to a new room but then that new room seems to get assigned to Home1. If I add an actual device instead of a scene then it works okay and can assign it to Home2 fine. Maybe a bug with how scenes are being handled vs devices? I'm using ISY Firmware 5.0.13
5. Is there any functionality of the 2842-222? I was able to add it to the ISY and able to add it to a scene but it doesn't seem to do anything. I wan't it to turn the scene on when it detects motion and then go off if it does't detect motion after a certain period of time. Is the Sensing mode supposed to be checked or unchecked. Doesn't seem to make a difference. When I look at the Event Viewer 3 Device communication events I don't see any activity even though I see the light blinking along with motion.
6. So what eventually ended up working is just doing a full restore devices of the entire system. (644 devices). Thanks for everyone's help.
7. No, haven't done the Delete Modem (PLM). It seems to me that it see's links / devices already so doesn't redo it so when and try to restore a second and third time there are few links / devices to write back to the PLM. I'm thinking that if I do a Factory reset on the PLM it will clear everything and when I do the Restore it will have to rewrite everything back to the PLM.
8. If it still doesn't work should I factory reset the PLM to clear it? Seems like when I've retried it and clicked restore it only does it for about a few minutes then seems like it's done. the first time when brand new seems like it was over 30 to 45 minutes to restore. Thanks for your help
9. No, everything looks okay, no ! or 1101. When I do a device query I see old links to the broken PLM that was removed though. Is there anyway of replacing all the references to this old PLM with the new one?
10. Okay I went through the steps listed but still having the same problem. Are there orphaned links from the old PLM messing things up? When I do a scene test I get: Sun 08/23/2015 09:51:58 PM : [GRP-RX ] 02 61 31 13 00 15
----- Entry Test Results -----

[Failed] Entry 1: Entry (7 EB 57 1)

----- Entry Test Results -----
Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:06 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 00.00.31 CF 13 00 06 LTOFFRR(00) Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:06 PM : [std MH ] Unexpected Ack imCmd=62 cmd1=LTOFFRR 0x13 Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:08 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1C 54 03 0F 0D 00 Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:08 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1C.54.03 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:17 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 1C 54 03 0F 0D 00 Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:17 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 1C.54.03 0F 0D 00 06 (00) Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:21 PM : [iNST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 36 AF DC 0F 0D 00 Sun 08/23/2015 09:52:21 PM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 36.AF.DC 0F 0D 00 06 (00)
11. Thanks for the replies. Hmmm. I may have plugged in the ISY before the PLM. Should I just delete the PLM, add it back and do another restore? Or just do a restore?
12. I replaced a bad PLM and now I cannot control scenes via the ISY web interface and device status are not updated in the ISY. I had a dead ISY. I attached a new one which the ISY detected and did a restore. I'm able to control lights and if I query a device it shows the correct status. Is this because the new PLM isn't included in all the devices scenes but the old one instead? I am able to fix a scene one by one by removing a device, creating a new scene and then adding the devices back but I have many scenes and this is tedious. If I do a "restore devices" would this correct the problem? Thanks. Firmware v4.3.1 ISY 994i/IR Pro (1110)
13. Looks like Insteon Hub has Nest integration. I hope ISY supports it soon: http://www.slashgear.com/nest-thermosta ... -12320277/ Nest thermostat gets Insteon smart home integration Smart home addicts relying on Nest for their HVAC can now hook the learning thermostat up to an Insteon automation system, integrating it with their lighting, security, and more. The new support, added in an update today to the Insteon Hub as well as the iOS and Android apps, allows Nest users to remotely control their home or office temperature. That was of course already possible with Nest's own apps, which allow settings for the thermostat to be manually controlled remotely. However, by pulling Nest into an Insteon installation, it means the thermostat can be integrated into macros, such as changing HVAC settings alongside lights. Insteon supports various timer- and motion-triggered actions, like unlocking doors or opening the garage, and so you could presumably have the heating turned up when you arrive home, even if that's outside the times that Nest itself has learned you're around. Insteon relies on a combination of AC power line and wireless to communicate between devices, and is flexible enough to work with third-party devices like Revolv's Hub which we reviewed last year. Meanwhile, Nest is believed to be one part of new owner Google's own smart home ambitions. According to rumors, the search giant is still harboring home automation ambitions that could include streaming media among other things. You'll need an Insteon hub in order to use the new Nest integration, of course, which runs to $129.99 if you opt for the company's own model, while Nest itself is $249.
14. Perhaps it depends on the particular model smoke detector. Because only a few voice smoke detectors have location announcement. It seems like this model the SCO7CN does notify you which detector is going off and which has the low battery. Though I'm not sure if that information is being passed to the Insteon smoke bridge it is certainly being passed from one detector to another: http://www.firstalert.com/detectors/bat ... ion/sco7cn
15. That's too bad. First Alert could have made it so much more useful. If they identified the low battery you could have had it text you to tell you which battery needed to be changed.
16. Can you access them all with one Smoke bridge or do you need multiple bridges?
17. Is there a way for the ISY to know which alarm is giving the low battery signal? That is one of the annoyances of my current smoke alarm is that it chirps but can't tell which one is low on battery. You have to walk around and listen for the chirps to try to figure out which one. Do you need multiple OneLink bridges? One for each smoke detector?
18. Yes it seems like the application would be somewhat narrow, that replacing a controlling switch with a switchlinc or keypadlinc would be more desirable. I could envision one place in my house where I could use it where the light switch that controls the ceiling light is in series with and cuts power to another outlet that I want to keep powered. I could use the controlable bulb in that fixture and control it with a free button on a keypadlinc and change the wiring so that it provides constant power to that circuit. Perhaps it might also be used in a location that does not have a neutral wire if you didn't want to use a 2 wire switchlinc.
19. Oh, yes, I see that now after running the query for a while. I'll have to brush up on my Excel skill to get the data in the way I want.
20. When I manually query the thermostat by right clicking it and selecting query the temperature updates and I see an entry for temperature and humidity in the log. But when I created a program to query it Repeat every 5 minutes / Insteon - Downstairs - query I see a query every 5 minutes in the log but it doesn't show the temperature nor humidity. Is there something more specific I need to program?
21. I don't see any temperature readings in the log. I only see them if I do a query. I guess I have to setup a program to query the 2441TH every 5 minutes or so? Or is the 2441TH supposed to automatically report temperature changes?
22. I would like to request a feature/module where the temperature history of each thermostat and when the HVAC kicks in to cool or heat are recorded and to be able see this graphically. You'd be able to review it to see what the temperature is during the day/night and how you might want to program the thermostats. Perhaps some day there will be a remote temperature sensor that can be placed outside and this can be recorded too.

Automated door knobs

They should make a deadbolt slave unit that doesn't have a keypad but links to the lever lock and unlocks when the code is entered in the lever keypad.

Automated door knobs

Hmm, that's a good point. Hadn't really thought about the difference between Kwikset and Schlage dead bolts, motorized vs un-motorized. All our doors have both a locking lever and a deadbolt. If I just do the levers it wouldn't make a difference I guess. Doing the deadbolts too would look a little funny having a keypad for each. What are others doing/planning?
