  1. No it is not checked. Should it be? I have no idea what all these options are. The ones that are checked are: Trigger Off LED on TX The ones unchecked are: Program Lock Relay Follows Input Send X10 Send On (or Off) Momentary: A Momentary: Look at Sensor Moementary: Both I don't think it is in momentary mode because I connected the relay in series with a wall switch that previously controlled the fireplace. If it was in momentary mode the fire would not stay on but shut back off when the circuit was opened.

  3. Yes, with nobody home I was surprised to see the fireplace registering as being on so I queried it. I forgot to mention here is also a KPL button in the scene, so 1 KPL button and 2 Controlinc buttons.
  4. It is the output. The input isn't connected to anything. The output connects to the fireplace dry contact control (normally closed). I have it included in one scene that includes two Controlincs (button #4) that turn it on/off. I also have a program that turns it off at 1:30am.
  5. One minor thing I've noticed with 2.6.15. When I start the ISY interface on the list of devices, it seems to indicate that the I/O Linc Relay is on when it isn't. When I do a query on it then it changes correctly to off. It is a little disconcerting because the I/O Linc is connected to our gas fireplace.
  6. http://www.cocoontech.com/index.php?sho ... 2515&st=15 I think the above exchange on cocoontech confirms my impression of what is going on. i1 devices repeat standard messages but not extended messages. If you have a device that cannot be reached by the ISY except via an intermediate i1 device it can receive standard messages but extended messages may not get through. However this to me this would only be an issue if you just started deploying i2 devices and perhaps only one or two i2 devices in a home that had isolated circuits. Most homes probably do fine without the repeating just with 2 access points., after you had 3 - 5 i2 devices repeating the extended messages there probably wouldn't be a problem anymore. Just like when you installed the first 3-5 i1 devices the signal pretty much propagated everywhere. I think those calling for a complete replacement of i1 devices have to realize the company has to stay viable. In this economy with companies dropping out left and right it does us no good if Insteon becomes orphaned. If you're having problems then add a few Access Points, buy them along with a keypad dimmer starter kit and it ends up costing $18 for a pair. Smarthome has extended the warranty on Switchlincs for the microswitch issue, if you replace a few of those you'll have a few more i2 devices. But I would rather see Smarthome spend it's money on maintaining itself as a viable company and coming out with new devices and improving QA.
  7. Yes, so exactly what do we know that is confirmed? That if you try to program devices with i2 commands it sometimes doesn't work. Is that about it?
  8. Wasn't the problem with i2 messages in version 2.6.13 because i2 messages weren't getting through networks that were mostly non-repeating i1 devices causing corrupted memory?
  9. I was thinking that even if i1 devices don't repeat i2 instructions I would think that after putting in a few i2 devices that do repeat i2 instructions there wouldn't be a problem but I guess we won't know for sure until some diagnostic features become available either on the ISY or HouseLinc. I am just speculating this based on the observation that when Insteon first came out it didn't take very many devices to get pretty good signal throughout a 5000 SF house. I would think if you had like 60 devices all repeating it is probably overkill. That if you just added just a few i2 devices it would get strong enough even without the other 60 i1 devices repeating and it isn't necessary to go tear out and replace all 60 i1 devices. As I said, I'm just speculating based on experience when I first started putting in Insteon devices.
  10. So why does the memory get corrupted due to poor signal strength due to i1 devices not repeating i2 messages? If it gets a bad message shouldn’t it just reject it and return a “program failedâ€. That would be better than corrupting the memory and start acting funny. At lease you would know which is the problem device and perhaps put an Access Point there or move it closer to the ISY so it can get programmed.
  11. With extended messaging shouldn't there be a checksum or something first to make sure it gets a correct package before it commits it to the firmware memory. When I've flashed the BIOS on a PC it usually loads the whole flash file, does a checksum to make sure the file hasn't been corrupted and then flashes it to the BIOS firmware.
  12. So is it safe to buy a 4.0 Switchlinc Dimmer v.35?
  13. Okay tried that, still comes up in 6 button mode. It displays 2486s/WH6 v.31 at the top of the ISY. Sticker says v1.0 0459, and 2486S 0810. So I reverted back to firmware 2.6.8 and tried again. Came up with 8 buttons! Seems like problem must have come up somewhere between v2.6.8 and 2.6.13.
  14. I manually changed it to 8 button mode and put an 8 button button plate on it. When you press the A button only that one lights in the upper left corner in toggle mode and not the A&B as would in 6 button mode. Instead of "Start Linking" I tried "New Insteon Device" and noticed that there isn't a model number for an 8 button Relay. Actually Smarthome doesn't appear to sell an 8 button relay, you have to but a 6 button one and chant it and the faceplate. I wonder if that has something to do with it?
  15. I have a KPL Relay v1.0 that I have changed from 6 button mode to 8 button mode (removed from ISY, factory reset, restart pressing A&H buttons) and then did a start linking procedure. However when it comes up it is always in 6 button mode. Is there any way to get the KPL Relay to show up as 8 buttons in ISY?
  16. I am contemplating getting the free Houselinc2 upgrade. I've heard that the firmware for the PLM has been updated to accomodate HL2. Is there any advantage in using this version with ISY? Is there better Insteon2 support? Should I get the USB version or the Serial version? I'm happy with the ISY and really don't intend to use the Houselinc2 much except perhaps some features with I/O linc that may not be available with ISY yet and manipulate some devices at my rental home where I don't have an ISY but hey it's free so perhaps before the free upgrade expires.
  17. This is from the older (and better) manual before their new wiki based manual: http://www.casamotriz.com/manuales/2411rqs.pdf Create Links that Always Send On (or Off) This can be handy if you want to create a button that is “All Off†or “Party-time†(or other situations where you want the button to do the same thing every time you press it). This is also sometimes referred to as “non-toggle†mode. 1) Press & hold the IRLinc Set button for about 5 seconds, then release Blue LED will turn Off 2) Point your IR remote at IR Receiver, and press the button to be learned Blue LED will begin blinking 3) Tap IRLinc’s Set button once (to always send an on), or twice (to always send an off) Blue LED will continue blinking 4) Go to the INSTEON-compatible product you would like to control, then press & hold its set button for 5 seconds* Done… blue LED will return to steady on (*see instructions for multi-button devices)
  18. From looking at the credit card remote that comes with the newer IRLinc the remote has ON and OFF buttons like a Controlinc so it would seem that there is a command that can make one button always off and another always on but I don't see anyting in the instruction manual on how to achieve this with a univeral remote.
  19. Oh, those buttons. The first time I tried to do IRLinc I installed 9 buttons before clicking cancel and it did a "request failed". Then I did a factory reset on the IRLinc and tried it again with only one button with the same result. Will the software be able to change the IRLinc button from toggle mode to non-toggle mode? If not please place that on the list for requested features. Or is that something IRLinc just can't do? Thanks
  20. Thanks, I have 8 keypads so about 64 buttons. Plus 3 remotelins and 3 controlincs. I've emailed you the log file. Also once the IRLinc is warking is there a way to change it from toggle mode to non-toggle mode?
  21. Thanks. But after I add the last button I click cancel and get a "request failed". Then when I try to drag the resultant button to a scene I again get a "request failed". Any ideas?
  22. I have an IRLinc from before it came with the handheld card remote so it doesn't have any programed IR codes yet. I am using a Harmony 1000 remote. Looking at the IRLinc instructions it says to hold down the button then let go so the LED goes out then issue a command and it accepts the IR code then to link it to a device. Since I am using an ISY I don't think I sould be manually linking a device at this point. I would think the procedure would be to add the codes to the IRLinc and then add it to the ISY and then use all the codes that it brings in to link devices but I can't find instructions on just how to just load a bunch of IR codes without then manually linking devices. Also after adding the IRLinc to the ISY is there a way to add addiional codes. I couldn't find much on the ISY wiki on this either. I suspect that the newer IRLincs aready have IR codes programmed in and this isn't a problem. But step by step instructions might help me and those who may have factory reset their IRLinc. Thanks

    I/O Linc Support?

Will the ISY be able to be programed to query the status of the input of the I/O Linc and make sure the status matches a linked LED of a button on a Keypadlinc?
  24. Is this a bug in the Keypadlinc relay? If so I might as well return mine before I put them in. Has this problem been solved? Or is it in the firmware and cannot be solved?
  25. I can't seem to be able to get the secondary buttons on a v1.0 Keypadlinc relay and v1.4 Keypadlinc dimmer into non-toggle mode. It says it is changed in the ISY interface but when I try to use the KP it is still in toggle mode.
