Excellent. I did not know that and maybe have missed reading it in the instructions. I received the access code after launching the skills! Will work on it now using my network module. Thank you!

Hi Ranyth, I have downloaded the app from the alexa skill store successfully a week back. However, I was not able to receive an email with regard to the authorization. Checked my spam folder as well but it is not there as well. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi, Anyone who has a current setup of: GLYDEA™ Z-WAVE® PLUG IN MODULE (https://www.somfysystems.com/file.cfm/Z-Wave_Glydea_Instructions.pdf?contentID=284865) Somfy Controller ISY? What is your experience so far? Thanks.

Hi - do you have any feedback on Insteon or Z-Wave Switch and Philips Hue Bulbs? Is it s good option? Thanks
-
Hi, I need your expert opinion on this as I am designing the lighting system for the new house we are planning to build. Lighting System: 1. I like the concept of having to change colour hues by utilizing Philips Hue bulbs and the associated bridge 2. Legrand Wave Switch and Micro-Module – in key strategic locations in the house (I am planning to have most the individual switches (combination of Insteon and Z-Wave switches/dimmer) to be hidden in the control room to have a clean and minimalist interior). Micro module will be will be linked and controlled by ISY programs (scene, switch, network modules, etc). These Wave Switch and Micro Modules combos would essentially turn on most/if not all lights per pre-defined zones. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/19282-legrand-adorne-switch-and-z-wave-micro-module-pairing/ 3. Motion sensors – via ELK Systems. Purpose: Lights ON/Occupancy sensor, etc. Potentially Wave Switch may not be always being used since motions will determine if lights should be turned on or off. Again, I have to work on the program logic 4. Alexa – for voice activation 5. And potentially the list goes on and on, depending on the budget availability. My current concern is on Item #1 (instead of using standard LED bulbs) but to use Philips HUE bulbs – again to have different colour availability AND Insteon/Z-Wave switches and dimmers. Does plan the sound ridiculous and an over kill? What is another option/cheaper alternative you guys could suggest? Insteon/Z-Wave switches have to on to control Philips Hue bulbs, correct? I.e. changing colours, etc… https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonecho/comments/42b2is/do_you_guys_leave_the_light_switch_up_when_a_hue/. Possibly, turn lights on/changing colours would be a 2-step process which obviously would add more delays! System design dilemma that requires your expert opinion. J Security: 1. ELK System Z-Waves · Door Locks Thanks!

Thanks! I was thinking there was a way to disable ALL programs all at the same time. I guess I have to do it individually Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Or is there any way to disable all programs? Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, Michel. Just to provide more clarity - I have only few Insteon device in my new place, and mostly, plug-ins devices. So essentially, I wanted to do is to access programs and list of variables offline so I can copy some programs. could I save into a file all my programs and other configs, not using backup? Again, I have moved to a new place but I brought some plug-in devices and my ISY. Thanks.

Hi, I had my ISY's configs (variables, email notifications/contents) and programs I want to preserve and reference back from my old install. What is the best way to do it? I don't want to re-create some of the programs but I am in a temporary place at the the moment with less devices and would like to use only a some features/programs I have created. I will then have a full-blown version when I move to a permanent one (http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/19218-new-installation-insteon-or-z-wave/. Appreciate the feedback.

Thank you! Do you mind further elaborating on RTI. I have checked this website for an introduction. http://www.rticorp.com/. I am assuming that RTI would be responsible for integrating all these disparate systems, correct? Is it designed for a DYIer? Or professional installer is required? Based on prelim research - it has to be installed by custom electronics professionals.

That's correct. I was thinking about that. Since I am in the process of building a house, I will do this as per this website: "A 4-in. junction box solves most box-fill problems. Throw on a single- or double-gang plaster ring that comes flush with the drywall, and you’ve got a box that’s hard to overfill." http://www.finehomebuilding.com/2001/12/01/more-wires-need-bigger-boxes Plastter covers are available - http://www.alliedmoulded.com/catalog/residential-products/electrical-box-covers-plaster-rings/4-square-junction-box-plaster-rings-and-covers/ SO I am assuming that this will work, correct?

Hi, Since I like the idea of wave switch so I am planning to use Legrand WaveSwitch (http://www.legrand.us/adorne/products/switches/aswv1532w2.aspx) and pair it with Aeon Z-wave In-Wall Micro controller (https://www.amazon.com/Aeon-Labs-DSC26103-ZWUS-Wall-Controller/dp/B008VWBNAU). Do you think there will be an issue on this pairing? Thanks.
-
Thanks Scottmichaelj! Yes, really the objective is to make sure that I can integrate most of these things together. In my previous installation, it was basically all workarounds and a bit messy. I am not familiar with openHAB but I will further explore. I did an initial research since I would also like to integrate Asterisk with openHAB binding (yes - I am still using Asterisk for my VoiP PBX. It worked and get phones calls if there's a trigger at home and other functions - https://github.com/openhab/openhab/wiki/Asterisk-Binding. But this is not the primary objective. Simplicity for a user's perspective (my kids and wife) as well as easy maintenance from my end is the key objective! Of course, aesthetics is important, hence I like the look and feel of Lutron devices. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks. What about Lutron Caseta? This is a DIY. Any chance for it to be compatible with ISY? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Thanks for all the feedback. Just to digress a bit from Z-Wave... Would it be possible to install Lutron (http://www.lutron.com/en-US/Products/Pages/WholeHomeSystems/Homeworksqs/Overview.aspx) and will ISY be able to control Homeworks? The reason I am asking is that I like the programming flexibility of ISY - NetWork Module. Or this will be an overkill? Appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi, I have to start a new installation and planning to build a house (since I have sold my house wherein I had a bit of a huge installation with over hundred of insteon devices: switches, outlets, sprinklers, leak and motion sensors, etc). I did not fully integrate Z-wave in this installation since I have only Z-wave motion sensor and of course, my range was limited since not a lot of Z-wave devices were available at home. Since I am planning of a new installation, I would like to gather some feedback on the pros and cons of switching to Z-Wave instead of just insteon devices. I still have my ISY994i with Z-module, hence I am thinking the I can go full Z-wave, correct? Moreover, Alexa Echo and Dot will play a bigger role in this new project of mine! I may go all out and install ELK security system and have motions sensors strategically setup in different parts of the house and program to control any Z-wave devices. (previous installation, I used DSC1616 and used DSCLink -http://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/40-dsc/). Is my ISY994i with Z-wave module sufficient enough as a starting point? One advantage I could think of is the cost saving - Z-wave switches are less expensive compared to insteon. Other than that, what will be the advantages of having Z-wave installation? Will there will some disadvantages? http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/19160-extending-the-range-of-zwave/ - - is this still a huge issue if it is a full Z-wave installation? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
-
Hi - does anyone know if this is compatible with ISY? Quite expensive though for a motion detection device. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CO8FGYK?psc=1 I am thinking that I can use Blue Iris with this IP Cam and use triggers to change ISY variables as well. Thanks.
-
Hi, Is there a way to factory reset ISY from telnet? That's the only way I can connect to the device. THanks.
-
Thanks for the reply. I have tried using 2 PLMs and connected ISY directly to the router and still the problem persists.
-
Hi, I need an urgent assistance please. I having an issue wherein I could login to my ISY console. I though I had a problem with the SD card so I replaced it but still the same case - as per this link below. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/9683-frequent-socket-open-failed-javanetsockettimeoutexception/ I could also telnet. I tried reformating the old SD card but to no avail. Please let me know if there's a resolution to this. Thanks.

Hi, In my ini file, scene folder is enabled; "show scene folders = True"
-
Hi Barry, Installed the latest version and "devices" button is working now! I might have missed some info though - is the "scene" button working as well? It does not show any list of scenes. Thanks a lot!
-
Hi Barry, It looks like I am still having this issue, as per attached. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
-
Hi Barry, Thanks for the app. I am trying it now and I am getting this error message: Runtime error 5 when I click on Devices or Scenes or Program.
-
This is excellent. I initially tried ha-bridge-0.4.0.jar without success but once I added "-Dupnp.strict=false" option, all my devices were discovered. The GREAT news is that I do have 37 devices connected to Alexa! Yay!
