Instruction manual for Alloy Z-wave Plus repeater
rick.curl replied to rick.curl's topic in Coffee Shop
Got the manual. Thanks, Landolfli! There are a lot of features in there that I didn't know about. That's a neat little device! -Rick -
One of my Insteon 2475F's just failed and I'm looking for a substitute. I've got the light handled, but I need a way to control the speed of the fan motor. It's an older Hunter fan, so the motor is inductive (not the newer DC one). Can anyone recommend a Zigbee or Z-wave module that will allow speed control of an inductive load? I could get by with one that mounts in a wall box, but I'd prefer a small one I can shove inside the fan canopy. Thanks for any suggestions! -Rick

Instruction manual for Alloy Z-wave Plus repeater

I PM'ed you. Thanks!!! Alloy was no help. No response to my voicemail or email inquiries. -Rick -
I'm not a new user, but I couldn't find a good place to post this question. I've got a few Alloy Z-wave Plus repeaters and I'm having trouble finding the instruction manual for them. I do have them working with my Polisy, but I am curious as to the meaning of the different color LED indications and how to factory default them. The LED changes color according to how many times I press the button or how long I hold it down. These seem to be very nice devices. In addition to being Z-Wave Plus repeaters, they will report temperature and humidity. I'd love to see the instructions to find out if I am missing any other neat features. Thanks for any info. -Rick

Thanks, but as mentioned in the linked thread, there is no information given as to how to install a certificate for the Eisy. Although portal is working, I prefer not to use it because: 1. I like to be independent of third-party services as much as possible. 2. If the portal is down I can't control my lights remotely 3. I don't use Alexa or Google assistant. Looks like I'll be implementing a VPN. I Do appreciate the help, though!!! -Rick

That worked! I'm up and running. -But now I'm curious- I would prefer to have UD Mobile connect directly instead of through the portal, but when I try it I get the message I reported in my first post: "Error (IOException) javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshaleException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException:Trust anchor for certification path not found." Is it possible for UD mobile to work without the portal? I can live with the portal if I have to, but I would prefer not. At least I've got a workable solution now. Thanks for the help! -Rick

I tried turning off all port forwarding. Now I get: "Error (IOexception) java.net.UnknownHostException: Unable to resolve host "my.isy.io"": no address associated with hostname". What should I try next?
-
Hi Techman- That got me started thinking. Port 8443 was being used for something else on my system, so I had forwarded external port 4043 to port 8443 on the Eisy. I just tried killing the other forwarding rule and changing the external port on Eisy's forwarding rule to 8443. Now I'm getting a different error message: "System: Eisy ERROR: Unexpected close. failed to connect to (my public IP address)(port 4043)" So something is still looking for port 4043 but I'm not sure what.

Yep- as I mentioned in my post, I get the same error regardless of whether or not the box is checked. Thanks, though.

I've been using Mobilinc Pro for a long time and decided to have a look at UD Mobile on my Android phone. It works fine thru Wifi as a local connection, but the remote connection fails. Whether or not I have "use ISY portal for remote connection" checked, I always get the message "Error (IOException) javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshaleException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException:Trust anchor for certification path not found." Can anyone help me resolve this? Thanks. -Rick

Hi Jay- Bill's solution of entering the exact LAT & Long did fix it. I was skeptical, but all is good now.
-
Hi Bill- I was doubting you, but I did as you said and it did correct it. Now it's within 2 minutes of what the weather bureau says. Plenty close for me!! Thank you!! -Rick
-
Thanks, William- but the time of day is correct. If this was a time zone or DST issue I would expect the clock to be off by exactly one or more hours. It's only sunset that is incorrect, and it's off by roughly half an hour. -Rick

I don't know if this is a hardware issue or a software issue. I never had a problem with Sunset until I migrated to Eisy. Now it's off by about half an hour. My time zone is set correctly and the realtime clock is correct, but in the Admin console I see sunset time given as 8:16PM, but the correct sunset time (for today) is 7:51PM. I'm running IoX 5.6.0. Where should I look for the problem? -Rick

Thanks for the info. That's very helpful. What I do not understand is that if it is not reporting its status because there is no load, why do other 2456's report status even when there is no load connected?

I deleted one of the devices from the system and then re-linked it. The problem remains. My gut feeling is that it is not transmitting anything back to the PLM. That's why I was hoping to find a schematic (I am an Electrical Engineer). Any other suggestions? Thanks. -Rick

I've got a problem with two 2456S3's not reporting their on/off status. One of them was totally dead and I re-capped it. Now it works but does not report status. The other was working but not reporting status. I re-capped it too. At this point I can command the relay on and off and both of them work fine, but looking at the Admin console, they always appear to be off. Has anyone found a way to repair this? Any chance anyone has reverse engineered the schematic? Thanks for any guidance on this. -Rick

Over time I have ended up with various access points, phase couplers, signal enhancers, and range extenders in my Insteon system. Can someone tell me if all of these are still supported? I've got 2442 signal enhancers, 2443 access points, and 2992 range extenders. Should I toss any of these? Thanks! -Rick

Another update- Now it's working fine everywhere- even thru the admin console. When I was trying to configure the 2456's in the house, I tried them on several receptacles but they were always on the same phase as the PLM. The lamp post is on the OTHER phase. This is the first time I've had something work better on the opposite phase. I don't understand everything I know about this, but at least everything is working now. Thanks to all for the suggestions and info. -Rick

New information- So far I have only been working with the 2456S3's from the admin console. I was in a jam and needed to get the lamp post working, so I went ahead and put one of the V.28 2456S3's in it. I was startled to discover that I can control it flawlessly from the Mobilinc Pro app on my smartphone. The status updates correctly every time. The way I see it, this means the 2456S3 is ok, the PLM is OK, and the fault must be in the ISY firmware. What think ye? -Rick

My suspicion is that they DO work, but the response is coming too late and the ISY gives up before it arrives. Wish there was a way to make it wait a bit longer.
