I am having the exact same issue with my ISY 994. I just have not figured out how to add the URL to a trusted list. The message belched back isn't even in a language so I have no idea what I am doing.
-
Lee, thanks for your specific example. I use a number of motion sensors and have a separate off program for each on program to respond to the sensor's off command, relying on the sensor's timer. If I use a wait instead, I can effectively bypass the internal timer and let the ISY time the event based on when the sensor is no longer triggered and effectively change the on time from my keyboard rather than by reprogramming the sensor. That's a cool take on it.

Thanks! Both of your replies are really enlightening and have helped me look at this from a different angle. I really appreciate the feedback as I get deeper into ISY programming.
-
I brought some old X10 baggage to the ISY and in that world there was not "wait" command, so a separate off program was needed to turn something off. I have been using the wait command quite a bit wand was wondering if this is a better and more secure way to go than a separate off pgm or if we're just talking a matter of style and concise code. Just curious for feedback on this.

Don't worry, jmed999. I have had my share of "Duh!" moments here too, and there will be more.

I have added three of the new micro modules. All I do is give my ISY the address and it finds and adds each all by itself. No need to use the set button on the module. Does anyone know if the RF section of these modules functions as an access point for other RF equipment or if it is just comm for the module itself?

I would try removing and reinstalling the leak sensor and/or checking your program to make sure you are using "control" and not "status" to trigger the email. I am using a very similar setup here with fine results on the last official software release.

Repair work to Java is long overdue and Apple is using its blocked list to push Oracle into fixing these security bugs. A few weeks ago one was so serious that the Department of Homeland Security advised people to disable or remove Java. Things are getting much better with two maintenance releases which address the problems. In both cases I learned of this before it had a chance to impact me so I had an idea of what was going on. Macrumors.com always seems to be up on these things before the rest of the media, so it's a good site to follow. Here is their article on the latest Java block and fix: http://www.macrumors.com/2013/02/01/ora ... n-on-os-x/

MANY thanks. I suspected what I got wrong was simple and it is. Thanks SO much for the examples. I was making it way too hard for myself here!

Can anyone help me out with a simple code example? I am trying to run a program hourly between two specified times and I am clearly using the wrong expressions or getting them in the wrong order. I can't seem to get a trigger from the IF line when using time X to Time Y and I've tried wait/repeat at 60 mins but it never repeats. Just wondering if anyone has a short bit of code to share with me to show me how this is done. Thx.

You can create a shortcut in the Finder and then drag the shortcut into the dock. -

Total agreement here. The word "transparency" was used earlier and that makes sense in this context. This new software process has been a true partnership with the user community. Sure, there will always be a few bugs but knowing that people are out there working on them and listening makes a huge difference to me. It's what makes all of this work. Light switch? I don't touch no steenking light switches. -
Sometimes I think these just get flaky. I had one out of box which would send a sense on signal but never an off and had to send it back. Other than that, I have had good performance. They do add to the PLM in a rather interesting manner and there could be corruption in the PLM's tables. Removing and adding them back is a real pain I know but it is something to try. Also, I would check for sources of RFI. One sensor going flaky is one thing but multiple sensors is suspect. You may even have an appliance which is inducing noise onto the power line and blocking the signal. Just thinking out loud.

Release 3.3.8 (RC5) Is Now Available

I got blank status too after the Update 11 installed. Shut down your browser and any Java applets running in the dock and restart the browser. Then go back into the dashboard and then admin console from there. That cleared it up for me and everything has been fine. It also worls faster than V7, U10 -

It looks like we are all back in business. I tried this work-arouind using the links you provided and it gave me a "not found" error. Then I got a popup telling me that Java V7, Update 11 was available. I had to go to java.com to download and install it but after I did I was able to get into my ISY the normal way from my own network as well as form the outside world too. Looks like Larry Ellison really lit a fire over this. -

I am able to get into my ISY now locally using the link you provided. I was trying to do it form out of town and that just no longer works. The Java Plugin method worked fine until Apple blocked the plugin yesterday. What they did was update their file of nasty things to look for with a line of code which does not let the plug in run unless it is version XX.YY and they set that version number higher than any existing version. It quite effectively keeps every Mac from using the plugin. THis is a function of OS X which works in background to allow Apple to quarantine and block nasty things out there. So for the time being, problem solved. Now Oracle just needs to fix the plugin and get that out to all users. When the Dept. of Homeland Security (the people who frisk me with dirty gloves in airports and harass me at freeway checkpoints) send out a dire warning, it has to be a very serious issue. These people are not (in my opinion) all that swift about anything and for them to go to DEFCON 4 on this is somewhat alarming. But your links are working. I added them as bookmarks and in a way, I prefer going to the Admin Console this way as to through the plugin. It requires more "stuff" out there be working perfectly though and gives me less independence so there is the trade-off, but it works. -

Thanks for catching the typo. That works now, but only from my own network. I was trying to get into my ISY from out of town. If anyone has any ideas on how to do that without Java, please post. Apple has definitely shut it down for all Mac users as of this afternoon. -

Release 3.3.8 (RC5) Is Now Available

You need to take a look at the results of clicking on the links in your post about the Java problem. They are not working. I get errors on both links. Nothing downloads from Safari or Firefox. It also sounds like Apple is about to shut down Java and then none of us will be able to get into our ISYs. Please post a workaround for downloading these elements. Thanks. PS - I am running 3.2.6 but when I disable Java in my browsers, I'm locked out of my ISY, so I have no choice but to leave Java there and hope it works and that Apple doesn't turn it off as MacRumors says they were going to. -

I'm getting a 404 Not Found error on the second link. Obviously this massive, gaping hole in Java throws a spanner in the gears of the new ISY software process. I suspect this will be addressed quickly though. -

I've been an ISY user for maybe 4 years now and have been on these forums most of that time. I have never before or since found another community as welcoming and friendly as this. After all this time I still learn something new here almost everyday. I'm proud to be a part of this community and a member of the ISY family. -Xathros I went through the learning curve the same as everyone else but found a lot of good information and ideas here which allowed me to answer most of my own questions. I echo your sentiment about this being a very open and welcoming community. People here are just great. When MacRumors floated the idea that Apple might be thinking of buying a startup home automation company (which has yet to produce a real product), I mentioned the ISY and UD over there and what I can already do from my phone and iPad. Members pounced on me to learn more. There may be a market for a plug and play type of very basic control but I see the real growth coming from geeks like us who see the utilitarian value but also the fun of creating a custom system. My cable company advertises that they can wire my house so I can set my alarm from work and then they get really vague about anything else they can do. Well, the time to set the alarm is when leaving and if one forgets, it is highly unlikely that one would remember halfway through the day. The ISY is the best engine for home/building control yet invented and the fact I can recycle some of my old X10 stuff for lower priority tasks as I replace through attrition is a real plus. This is my 5th home controller (3, X10, 1, 2414U, 1, ISY) and holy sox, Batman, this is great. Being able to keep on learning, experimenting and adapting is really cool, especially when the end result is never having to touch a light switch and hundreds a year in energy savings. -

I would like to add that I have enjoyed this progression through release candidates to RC5 because of the valuable exchange of information between UD and the user community. As a user, I prefer the delay we are seeing as fine points are polished to circling a day on a calendar and pushing out new software, ready or not. Ultimately, this process of continuing to work on issues is better for everyone and results in higher customer satisfaction and fewer panics once the final release is made available. Thanks for all of the hard work and patience. It's cool to be an ISY user. -
Release 3.3.4 (RC1) Is Now Available
johncrab replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
In preparation for the new official release, I checked my Java and upgraded to V7. With 3.2.6 I am seeing a remarkable improvement in speed of loading and smoothness of the ISY interface. It's really noticeable, so I imagine with the new official release it will be even better. FYI -
I got a low battery alert and after the battery was changed, they do not send a change of state to the ISY. They have to be queried for the current state and then the ISY will change the display to turn off the low battery ="on" status. The factory query program was not polling the sensors, so I added a line for each sensor to the query program to direct it specifically to look at battery status of each and it reset the status. Seems to work fine by pointing the query program at each sensor's battery status.
