  1. Well the mail is still going through so maybe it's like my local post office - only open when I don't need them!!!! Yes, Michel - and thank you for taking the time to explain. The bottom line seems to be - .14 may, or may not, fix group com issues with new devices. I have a good test switch that has been a prime example of the group com problems. I'll see what happens and let you know. It will take up to a week for me to be sure - due to the intermittent nature of the problem. Jim H.
  2. Michel I need to add that even though my notifications are coming through fine, I just noticed that my log is capturing a -50001 error with the control of -5 noted. Is this mail server related? New one on me!!! Yes, Michel - and thank you for taking the time to explain. The bottom line seems to be - .14 may, or may not, fix group com issues with new devices. 3. The led also flashs if it is sending a signal to a device which is no longer in the network (or possibly a bad link in the device links table...)
  4. My notifications are working fine via port 587 and my comcast.net server. No other issues found thusfar...
  5. Thanks Michel for confirming my observation! I am never sure whether it is my own problem or a real "issue"! The weblink works grand with my SmartPhone! Great update.
  6. The "links compare diagnostic" is a great improvement. One item of note is if I run a Device Links Table Compare and look at the ISY table and then close both windows and then attempt to look at Show ISY Links Table the window opens in the last device. I have to CLICK ON STOP in order to see the window where I can chose the device I want. Just a nitpick....!
  7. Hi Michel I use my WiFi for connection to my ISY. I just tried using the https://my.external.ip.address and it would not connect! Yes - I do have access enabled!! I connected via telnet and sent an RS. I still cannot connect via my browser and my internet address but I can connect using my phone... I will send you my address via email so you can check it out. Now I am really confused.
  8. Update! After connecting several times via my Smartphone without any problems I went about my business for several hours. I made a couple of changes to the ISY via the console and then tried to connect via my Smartphone and was back to getting timeouts, -- I telneted a restart or reboot of the ISY and was able to connect via my Smartphone immediately. Another Update two hours later (3PM EST). I have not used the console to reconnect to the ISY since I restarted it via Telnet. I just tried unsuccessfully to connect via my SmartPhone. Any new ideas Thanks!
  9. So far so good. I increased the timeout values five-fold and then restarted the ISY and was able to connect via my Smartphone just as in the past. I will keep connecting and update you with my results over the next few days to see what happens. I am wondering what would have happened if I had just done a restart. A simple "Restart" via telnet is what I will try next time my connection fails and then let you know what happened Thanks again
  10. Thanks Michel I will try to get to it tomorrow when I have a little time. Best regards
  11. Michel - Thanks for the quick response... Where would I make this change, and why could I connenct OK once and then nothing but timeouts...?
  12. I have been successful several times at connecting to my ISY url and accessing the devices and scenes. That is all I am really interested in doing! The real problem is after I connect and then disconnect I cannot reconnect - when I try I just get a timeout. I do not see any problems with ISY after connecting with my phone. I have tried various things to resolve this including clearing all of my cookies and memory on my phone and disabling and re-enabling internet access on my ISY, but no success! Anybody have any ideas??
  13. It does appear that the various Icon lamplinc and appliancelincs that I have, do not consistantly manage "Status updates" with the recent ISY firmware updates. None of my Icon problems are mission critical, hopefully future ISY firmware updates will resolve....
  14. Jason Are you using a custom location or one of the standard locations for your ISY configuration? This happened to me with an earlier firmware release when I used a custom location. I changed to Boston and all was well after that. I have not tested a cusom location since so I don't know if this is still an issue.
  15. Hi CJ I have different ramp rates (and on levels) for the same lights which are different depending upon the scene that is being used. For example, in our family room the track lights and table lamps have a readling scene, a movie scene, and a visitors scene. These scenes can be activated by a button on the remotelinc in the family room as well as the front door KPL. Additionally, I have a timer program which turns on these lights when we are away. It took me awhile to define the scenes and the programs to achieve my desires and I still change things every week to improve.
  16. Michel, The problem device is an Icon LampLinc. Is this because the early "economic" Icon product design does not interact nicely with the latest ISY firmware? I assume that this means that Icon devices should not be used for Mission Critical purposes !!! ROFLMAO !!!
  17. Gents - Thanks for your comments. Sorry I was delayed in returning to the forum to update my progress by a New Year's day gathering. I have resolved the issue by clearing the links and factory reseting the remotelinc as well as the lamplinc followed by reinstalling the links to each of the buttons. Must have been a fluke as all seems to be fine now!!!
  18. I just noticed that the Remotelinc button I have linked to a 2456D2 Icon Lamplinc stopped working after upgrading to 2.6.13. I have attempted to restore as well as remove and reinstall the link to the button with no success. The Lamplinc still works otherwise for timers as well as on/off from the console. The other Remotelinc buttons work as well. Anybody else experiencing this issue with Icon devices....?
  19. Hi Someguy Like you - I have found that getting the Motion Sensors programmed to do what I want to be very frustrating. I would like to offer the following -- In order to successfuly factory reset a motion sensor I found I had to follow these steps. First, using the ISY I had to remove the motion sensor from any linked device or scene. Then I could remove the motion sensor from the ISY. After completing the removals, then I would do the factory reset on the motion sensor. --- If I did not do this, some of my previously linked devices would still "hear" the motion sensor after the reset and in one case I found that I ended with a double link to a device when I did my programming again. Additionally, I would add that rushing any step in the process seemed to cause issues. The 2420 seems to need time to properly save changes within its' memory. This thing really tests my patience. I confirmed some of this with the Tech person at SH. These dxxx 2420M sensors are likely to drive us a little nuts!!!
  20. Steve As a Verizon customer, have you tried your Verizon account for sending alerts? I am a Comcast customer but I recently had some similar issues to what you describe when Comcast decided my IP address was a source of spam.....
  21. Michel All I ask is that when a path & time line becomes more clear for "end game" you have described, I hope that we can be appraised so that I can plan for my next home move. Like Rand I don't want to have to replace my Insteon investment, I will just want to start over!!!
  22. CJ I have found that I get the rapid response when I have the 2420M set as the controller for a Scene containing the devices I want to activate. It seems that you could use this approach and have the scene programed to be active only during the times you desire! TO Anyone > I am still trying to get my 2420M to be asleep during the day. I have been unable to get the Dawn/Dusk jumper to work regardless of how many times I do a factory reset. Anybody else had this problem? . . . . . I'll be calling SH today!
  23. You are A-OK The insteon Motion Sensor will signal motion via the sensor, use this to control your devices. It will also tell you when the battery is getting low (use for an alert!) and when the sensor is set up for night only operation.
  24. Here is the original discussion that prompted me to do this with directions > http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=956 I could not wait for SH to develop and Isteon device and I had some old MS14a devices as well as the EagleEyes which are weather resistant. I get over 100 ft RF range from outside mounted EagleEyes.
  25. I use the EZX10RF because of the extended range it provides as well as the programability if needed. I had problems with the cheaper RF modules and I upgraded to the EZX10 just about the same time I moved to Insteon. The 2420M is the Insteon Motion Sensor...... Good luck! Stowaway: If you don't mind, will you explain how you do this? Are you just talking about using the EZX10RF in place of an "X10 plug-in RF base"? If so, then why use a >$100 device in place of a $25 device? Is there any other benefit other than it will receive all house codes? what is the 2420? I can't find it on a google search.
