  1. I use micro on-off in this fashion for pool light. Instead of switch box I placed it inside the pool electric panel, next to the GFCI breaker as it is better weather protected.
  2. If you don't mind messing around with electronics you may try modifications I did to Insteon micro on/off modules when I needed low voltage control. Another approach may be using Global Cache Relay board. It can be controlled via Network Resource, Relays are only 0.5A but you may always add on inexpensive "dumb" 4 relay board to increase the load capacity
  3. Yes, Network Resource for every command. You can use Copy to quickly create similar resources. It was one of the reason I went with Simple Control Hub to have just high level Action called from ISY rather then myriad of low level commands.
  4. In addition to what KeviNH suggested I found using iTest application from Global Cache very useful.
  5. ditto. I used to have tons of IR, IP and serial control in my network resources but it was a mess. I switched to using Simple control Hub, sending REST from ISY to start activities. It works great. Simple Control does not have yet direct Smart Home commands in Alexa but through ISY programs I can control all AV activities using Alexa. It is great to have one, central repository of all AV control commands in the Simple Control Hub that shared by all iOS devices remote controls and ISY. I finally cleaned tons of low level staff from Network resources. Not having sub second delays, feedback, ISY just not well suited for AV control.
  6. larryllix makes valid point about temperatures and electronics. Unfortunately there is no simple and affordable way to monitor humidity remotely. You really need to monitor both in the attic. I installed Pro sensor in the attic in May and use it to control Attic Fan. In my area - Eastern PA the temperature never went over 135 with Fan effectively removing excess heat from the attic. So far so good. I setup heartbeat program to detect if censor dyes. I keep a spare PRO just in case. It was merely an experiment to see correlations between top floor conditions and attic. Prior I had attic re-insulated, top plate sealed with addition of buffles in eaves. Otherwise you would by sucking warm air and removing humidity in the winter from your house envelope.
  7. I'm using SC with ISY for number of years. Works great together. Practically I consider SC the best UI for ISY day to day control you can buy, bringing together ISY and all other HA devices in the house. All design process takes place on iPad without separate software etc. We are all Apple household so everybody has full fledged remote control in their pocket on iPhone and number of iPads placed around the house. All changes to design and status synchronized across all devices automatically. SC allows you to create buttons and have it execute any ISY programs, scenes etc. ISY commands can be also a part of any macro (Actions in SC speak). I have not found the case where I need to trigger something in reverse - from ISY to SC. SC has a new product - SC Hub that I don't have. It acts as central repository and synchronization host. I would assume Actions can be triggered by network resource sent from ISY to SC Hub.
  8. Yes, It is low voltage control contacts. No load, just short the input terminals designated for Vacation mode on the thermostat. @io-guy. Of course I realize the mod is not kosher. However i'm pretty comfortable with electronics and check the relay specs, etc before doing it. The relay this module uses is 16 Amp High capacity, 250VAC max switching, insulated for high temperatures operation. My thermostat is running cold. I don't see how my change of contacts remapping can overheat this mechanical relay.
  9. I have an existing thermostat for radiant heat floors which has control contacts to activate Vacation mode. I wished to have it controlled form ISY when we are away or on Vacation. I didn't want to invest into wi-fi smart thermostats. There are very few existing that have external in-floor temperature floor sensor connectivity. I was looking for small remote controllable relay with NO contacts that I can activate via Insteon. It had to be small enough to fit behind one-gang box behind the thermostat. I could not find any. I/O link is huge and Insteon micro on/off modules 2443 switches line voltage. I went ahead and modified micro on/off module to convert to NO relay. I utilized extra, unused wire terminal on the module to use it as another leg for the relay. It is not marked on the module case and internally jumped to a Load L1 terminal. Now I have Load and this 2nd terminal used in Normally open relay contact. Line voltage only is used to power the module and pass Insteon signal. Module is Dual Band so it uses RF as well. I wish SmartHome would just offer such module as I'm in need of few of those devices (Doing Pool Heater remote control next) I do not recommend doing it if you are not comfortable with electricity, soldering and working with PC boards. Obviously this is dangerous to modify and use modified electric device so be forewarned. Open the case using small flat screwdriver , pushing on 4 tabs. Carefully pull the PC board out of the case. RF module with contact plug will be left on the case. Using soldering iron and week or pump clear few points on the border. Cut traces and solder jumpers per attached photos. The goal is to separate two center terminals from each other and Line voltage. Carefully inspect and check with Ohmmeter to insure there is no shorts on PCB. Blow and clean the PCB from any metal particles left.
  10. @KeviNH I'm interested to see more details on how you setup the event log. Please post some screenshots, examples if you can. I'm not clear on your custom notification setup. Rant: I wish ISY would have something like this built-in. Say add consoleLog program to other programs I need to investigate and flip debug mode to start logging.
  11. +1. Ecobee3 does the same thing. Changes midpoint by shifting cool and heat points up or down
  12. I use Geofency app on iOS for home/away.
