  1. Disabled the ISY skill, the V2 is still active and linked. Shows four skills linked such as the Harmony remote and Insteon, ISY SH V2 and now the Ring Video Doorbell. Ive done the forget devices several times and run discover several time. Last time i did the "Forget" there were several devices that showed as off line but seem online when they came back after discovery. Devices operate through ISY and the hand help Insteon remote properly. I haven't tried running scenes from the console, I'l try that tonight. I miss being able to run scenes by voice command. Loved being able to head out the door and say "Alexa, going to work" get an "OK" and all the house lights start going off.
  2. After replacing my PLM a while back the Echo stopped controlling my Insteon devices. Went through forgetting all devices and re-deicovery several times. Went into Skills and made sure ISY was enabled and several other attempts at solution. Out of (31) scenes and devices I was successful at turning three lights on and off. When giving the spoke command right off the cheat-sheet print-out I get the "OK" response but nothing happens except for three lights. ??? I noticed I have the ISY skill enabled and also ISY optimized for Smart Home V2 Should I disable the IZY skill and leave the V2 version or does it mater? Wondering why I was finally able to get three lights to work but nothing else?
  3. Had the Echo running fine for quite a while and then the PLM died. Replaced the module and now the Echo can't control my devices. Deleted all the devices and reran discovery and it found (36) devices. Alexa still responds but when given a voice command to "turn xxxxx on" I get the "OK" response but nothing happens. Tried multiple devices, same thing, "OK" but nothing happens. ISY still works fine, just the Echo voice commands Any ideas?
  4. Have (31) devices listed in the Portal and previously Alexa would discover the devices with out problem. Only change made was a different PLM
  5. My PLM died and I had to replace that module. The ISY now sees the module and regular function are working. Previously had thirty-one devices loaded through the portal that the Echo could find and control. After replacing the PLM the Echo can not find any devices. Deleted the devices from the Alexa ap and ran discover devices multiple times. Any ideas why the ap can not find the devices that were previously loaded and if so, how to fix?
  6. DIYguy replied to DIYguy's topic in Amazon Echo
Tried swapping the cable and testing and ISY till doesn't see the PLM so figure DOA. Ordered new module and replaced. ISY now sees the module and finally able to communicate with devices. New problem or still....Echo will still not communicate with devices or scenes. Went into the Alexa app, removed devices and did a fresh discover devices and repeatedly, no devices found. ISY is the same, PLM different but that shouldn't stop the system from finding my devices. Any advice?
  7. DIYguy replied to DIYguy's topic in Amazon Echo
I unplugged ISY and the PLM, waited and then plugged them back in to reboot. Did this twice. After doing the reboot is when the Echo could not find any devices. Does the PLM hold the info in memory? The green light and status lights on ISY look normal but no connection. Going to look for a different network cable and see if that makes a difference.
  8. During the last couple weeks when giving a spoken command to the echo I would get the "OK" response and nothing would happen. This progressed to the "can not find a device named..." I first tried removing all the devices and refind them. Echo found the devices but still would not control them. Tried rebooting all the devices, still nothing. Reran remove and find devices now the echo can not find any of the previous (37) devices and scenes. Went into ISY admin counsel and diagnostics and PLM status which reported "not connected". Also tried to control devices through the console but this also failed. PLM shows a solid green light, any ideas how to verify the PLM before ordering a new one?
  9. Thanks Michel, Just went through the process remote, will have to experiment when I get home and see how Alexa fairs with only ISY devices and scenes.
  10. I don't know about others but I find myself frequently saying Thank You automatically. Grand daughter told Alexa she loved her but I don't remember the response. I'll have to experiment with some compliments. Maybe when the wife's not around
  11. Well this answer my questions. Spent time working on the ISY portal yesterday and when testing the Alexa commands based on the new stuff through the portal all I got was the two notes, no "OK" Thought it was was an issue using ISY Portal instead of Insteon Hub. I agree with others in that it is frustrating to find something you like and then it gets changed to "Improve" it but the improvement isn't. I like OK
  12. Never mind the automated milk truck, I want my transporter and replicator! (except the part where the clouds down and my particles just scattered in the cloud) Opps!
  13. Once I finally received my Echo I did my initial set up in my office and then took it out into the dinning room and set up while the wife wasn't around. When the wife came home I was rather proud to test "Alexa.....turn entertainment center lights on" hear an "OK" response and the lights came on. Didn't get quite the response I hoped for. "Oh my G##!!! you and your gadgets!! what did you do now..... blah....blah....blah blah." Dear wife not so happy. Good news, after a few days and experimenting, wife can get her news fix, whats the weather forecast and best yet "Alexa....play Dave Koz" Felt REALLY good to finally hear the wife state it wasn't that silly and "actually, that's pretty cool" She loves working in the kitchen and calling out music and other request. Grand daughter spent the weekend and drove Alexa and us nuts talking to her and coming up with every imaginable question. Did you know Alexa will answer to "what sound does a fox make?" So....what are some of the other reactions in other users homes?
  14. I bought the Insteon Hub first based on an e-mail notice from SmartHome announcing Echo, Insteon Hub and Harmony Hub integration plus the iPhone app. The Insteon Hub and app are clumsy and less than user friendly. The Harmony Hub with Elite remote is a complete waste of $350. Had to factory reboot/restore twice in two weeks for total lock up, drops functions and drops devices during functions. Want my old Harmony One back. Out of eleven devices loaded into Connected Home through the Hub nine work two don't. Odd Of two of the devices one is named [chair lamp] and one is named [couch lamp]. Using command "Alexa....turn chair lamp on" receive response "OK" and light turns on. Using exact same command using couch lamp, receive response "can not find a device couch lamp in John's profile" Last night completed the portal / ISY registration, went into Portal and started with adding twenty-five devices and a few scenes. Went back into Connected Home and ran find devices but took several different tries before Echo found the ISY devices. The eleven devices in the Insteon Hub are now duplicated with the ISY devices. I expect I'll need to take each Hub device and "forget" them in Connected Home correct? Now that ISY seems to be connected do I need to get rid of the Hub? If I add devices and scenes in ISY Portal and run discover I expect it will find the Hub devices again.
  15. Thanks jerlands Finally got the portal worked out and entered twenty-five devices and a few scenes to test it out. Have Connected Home set up already and after a few different tries of finding devices if finally connected with Portal and found what I entered. Now I need to figure out the redundancy of the Insteon hub and ISY as devices loaded in the hub were already found and now loaded twice.
  16. When using the Echo app to find devices I've noticed the only devices it can find are the ones I had to manually enter in the Insteon Hub. I would open ISY, go down the list and manually enter the address into the hub rather than travel all over the house and link the devices. I've only entered a fraction of the total devices available. I've also noticed the Hub would not accept some devices even though it would accept a nearly identical device. IE: Insteon dimmer wall switch. Two in same box, recognizes one, not the other? I have the ISY portal set up, the Skill enabled in Echo. Is there a way for Echo to find all the devices available through ISY?
  17. Went through the process of finding devices but it only found the devices I manually entered into the Insteon hub, not all the ISY devices. (long list) All the living room devices are showing up correctly in the device list and I can go through and command multiple devices correctly IE: "Alexa, turn chair lamp on", get the OK response and devices respond. What's puzzling is there are several similar devices on the list such as [couch lamp] that returns the message " I can not find a device named couch lamp" Where all conditions seem identical, what would cause the Echo to recognize most devices on the found list and not recognize other device on the same list?
  18. Was wondering if it might be propitiatory with the Echo, haven't seen it with any other HA systems. I expect Amazon is selling the Echos so fast they can't keep them in stock. I received my e-mail from UDI sales this morning announcing the Echo was working with ISY and pretty immediately ordered it. Unfortunately listed as "expected in stock January 28th" so on the pre sale waiting list. I have everything loaded and programmed in ISY but bought the Hub because the wife can use her iPhone to turn on the living room lights while planted on the couch. She doesn't like looking for the itty bitty little white remote control. Phone is ALWAYS in her hand so easy to find. I'm an automation freak but the wife doesn't like all the remote controls. Really looking forward to her being able to run the automation scene for evening lighting by giving a voice command. I know she can do that.
  19. I feel like the guy overhearing an interesting conversation but not completely understanding the conversation. I've had my ISY for years with LOTS of Insteon devices, programmed, scenes etc. MobiLinc Pro on the iPhone and iPad. Just bought the Hub in anticipation of the Echo. Bought the Harmony Elite because it will link with Insteon and the Hub and hopefully not frustrate the wife. Just ordered the Echo and waiting for it to be in stock and ship. Trying to do my home work while waiting for the Echo to show up and trying to figure out....what Connected Home? I can't find a link to to a specific software or operating system Connected Home, just the concept. What is Connected Home and how do I get it?
  20. To clarify for my information. I use MobilLinc Pro on my iPhone and iPad, is this the same as MobilLinc Connect? I was just about the order the Echo and saw the disclaimer and wanted to make sure.
  21. After a few challenges I have full remote access of my ISY994i from my office computer. I've had MobiLinc Pro for quite a while and tried using it before my ISY. Wasn't impressed with the SmartLinc connection and stopped using it. It seems to work well with the ISY so I just updated to 4.0 My question is, how can I get MobiLinc to work remote without paying the annual fee? I have a business gateway with static IP and port forwarding in place. External IP configuration is taken care of. What does the Portal Integration Module do. If that module is installed can MobiLinc be manually configured for remote connection without using the service? Will the push notification work if not using the Connect service? Don't mind spending the $30 if get added features but since I've done all the other work already wondering if I still need to pay for the service. Any suggestions?
  22. It's been quite a process but I've finally made it as far as remotely connecting with my ISY994i. After getting past firewalls, updating Java and installing the admin Console I still can't access the ISY. The ISY finder gives me a : "Not found" error. When I open the Admin Console I get the "Error, click for details" message and then the Security Exception. In the past when I got that message I discovered if I reloaded the console from the original ISY page it fixed the problem When remote it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
  23. I just ran into this same problem two weeks ago (early Feb) Had a 4-way switch for the main entry I was trying to convert to Insteon. Wired everything as I thought is was suppose to be, powered up, no lights. Multiple test, no lights. Spent seven hours over two days during the weekend and finally gave up. Called a friend that was a Journeyman electrician to help. He laughed, "no problem" and then spent 2-1/2 hours mumbling about why and how and a few explicates. Still no go. Tried an experiment and ran a replacement cord (power cord, male end only, no female) and used it to jump the neutral wire from another circuit to the 4-way. Plugged the cord into another outlet, capped the hot, connected the white neutral to the 4-way and tested. Worked as it should! Late '80s house and all the power runs originated in the ceiling boxes, dropped a loop to the switches, no neutrals. For those that have this set-up, it is possible to jump a neutral from another circuit. All neutrals go to the same bar in the load center so it doesn't matter where the circuit gets its neutral. I had to cut a hole in the wall and add a line in multiple locations, sucks but it does work.
  24. I did some searching of other posts and found that this is a common problem. More details in some of the other posts lead to being able to add ISY to the Java exception list through the Control Panel. So far, seems to work.
  25. I'm migrating from HouseLinc to ISY and still have some bugs. I had HouseLinc active while setting up ISY but have now disconnected it. Still have some ghosts to clear up. I have an OutletLinc that is only suppose to be a responder to a garage door I/O device. Door goes up, nightlight plugged into the outlet goes on, door goes down, light goes out. Been that way for 1-1/2 years. Now in ISY when I click on the OutletLinc is show as a responder to another light switch in the garage. It is not suppose to be and I can figure out how to remove the OutletLink as a responder to the light switch.
