I setup the raspberry pi and the one wire bus. It was a bit tricky, but not hard. I think I spend about $100 for everything including 10 regular sensors and 5 waterproof ones.
-
From others input, I made trigger programs and action programs. So it would be like this. If Control 'Attic / Attic:Temperature Sensor' is switched On Then Send Notification to 'JPaulText' content 'Attic Temperature Below Freeze Warning' activate attic below freezing program then statement Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Program = attic below freezing If = nothing Then Disable Program 'Attic:Temperature Below Freeze Warning' Wait 30 minutes Enable Program 'Attic:Temperature Below Freeze Warning' Else = nothing. Then it will run 30 minutes even if the trigger program is no longer active.

I have these sun sun bulbs http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CP7 ... UTF8&psc=1 I light the white light better. These work fine but turn off below 15%.

So after a few days it's still weird. My switch is setup like this. light---------------hot water pump all out on----------all out off all in on-----------all in off all on-------------all off The all out off and the all off lights never turn off, even when I push the on button. When I push all out on, the outside lights turn on, but the keypad does not light up other than the 2 blinks. The all out off stays lit. When I push all in on, the lights turn on, the keypad for all in on stays unlit, but the all on button lights up. When I push all in off, the all in off stays lit, and the all on button stays lit even though all the lights are off. When I push the all on, the button blinks as normal, then goes off. If I push all off while the all on button is lit, it will turn off, even if I have already turned all the lights off with the all out and all in off buttons.

Why not just use a sunrise sunset time plus some time? I have all my motion based lights programed like that. Are you trying to use a scene instead of a program? I'm still learning the best ways to use these devices, so sorry if my questions are basic.
-
the set button was blinking green with button presses.
-
It was not blinking more that 2x for me. I went 'all in' and removed all the buttons from all scenes, deleted it from the isy, and did a factory reset on the switch itself. I'll reprogram it and go from there. It got confusing when I was doing it because i renamed it a while back and saved all the buttons as NA because I wasn't using them. When I went to use them, it took a few tries to figure out what was what and I think I might have confused it (or me!). Fingers crossed that a fresh reload will have everything working correctly.

Same thing with me. When I push the off button (the only controller for this scene) it will blink, then stay on. I have 3 non-toggle off scene controllers, and only 1 of them stays on all the time, one works as it should, and one turns off sometimes. When I check my phone it sometimes says they are on when they are really off. I did the restore device a few times when the renaming of the buttons didn't seem to stick. I 'moved' a scene controller for my hot water pump to a different button by deleting it from that scene, renaming both buttons, then adding it back to the scene. In the morning I came out and the hot water pump wasn't on, and the outside lights were triggered by my hot water program. I verified proper operation by triggering the program and scene the night before and everything was working as normal. Random things seem to get messed up when I add a lot of switches and make new programs, even if I don't do anything for the other programs and scenes. I had a keypad dimmer freak out and stop working the same day too. Not sure if its a coincidence. The on ones work like that, but the off ones only do sometimes.
-
The ones that stay on sometimes are all non- toggle off buttons. All I want is for all the lights in that scene to turn off when I push that button. It seems that I have all 3 off buttons setup the same, but they do not all act the same. It's not a huge deal, the buttons do what they are supposed to, except they light different.
-
One more question. Some of my all off non-toggle buttons stay lit up sometimes. When I push the button, it blinks a couple times, but stays on. Sometimes they turn off, but I can't figure out how. It seems that the outside lights off button always stays lit up, even when all the lights are off, but the other 2 (inside and all lights) will change.
-
Thanks guys! I didn't know about the toggle options. I got it all working smoothly.

I'd like to make some scene / programs for the following off of a 8 button controller; All lights on button All lights off button All inside on All inside off All outside on All outside off If I use scenes and controllers it uses the same button and turns everything on before I can turn everything off. also, How do i remove a button as a scene controller?

I figured it out. The alarm system things that I was piggybacking on have some kind of feedback that makes it so you have to remove the jumper. I got it to work for a few seconds when I installed the battery with the jumper, then removed the jumper, but I could not repeat this. When I take the battery out of the alarm thing, it doesn't change anything, but when I unhook one wire from the alarm and send it straight to the insteon, it works fine. Weird. My wife wanted to keep the alarm fully functional, but isy takes priority now!
-
Thanks LeeG. Hopefully you are on insteon / UD's payroll for all the help you give everyone! That fixed my daughters program. My front door sensor uses the terminals instead of the magnet because there is already an alarm system wired to a hidden magnet on that one. When I install the jumper, the green light never turns on when I open or close the door, or use the magnet with the door open or closed. When I remove the jumper it works fine. I tried a factory reset, and it still does the same thing. Is this sensor defective?

I bought the 4 pack from costco.com and I'm having issues. I have 3 of them linked with jumper removed. When I first linked them by my computer, they would change the status when I triggered them with the magnet. The xxxx- closed part had no status and the xxxx-opened would change the status when triggered. I put them in their location, and made a program for them. The program for my front door works, but now the status for opened and closed is the same (now closed has a status) and neither one changes when I open the door, but the program still works correctly. I made a program for my daughters room to turn on a light in my room when she opens the door. This program does not work. I added the 3rd open/close sensor and walked around the house testing it with status -on then light on, else light off. This sensor will turn the light on and off as it should, but the sensor that I mounted on her door does not when I replace it in the program. Even with the other sensor 2" away, and the door closed, it will still run the program just fine. There is one dual band switch through 2 walls, about 10' away and another couple dual band switches through one wall (perpendicular above the door) about 18' away. Does anybody have any idea why I can no longer see the actual status for the first 2 sensors, but the 3rd works? And why the program won't run when the other sensor has no communication issues in the same location?

I have the driveway street light on the else path because I leave them on for 2 hours around dusk, but they would turn off in 15 min if I walked past the gate. The only program that calls this program is the one I listed. 1x motion beeps will beep all the light switches in the house to alert me of motion activity. I also have a 2x motion beeps where each switch will beep 2x if someone comes near my front door. The extra seconds were when I thought I was setting minutes, then was too lazy to change them back. I noticed that it seems that headlights from cars, or sometimes other lights turning on near the motion sensor will trigger the motion sensors. Has anyone seen anything like this? I also can't figure out why that same motion sensor will trigger the driveway house lights for about 15 seconds during the day, but not during the night. i think it might be a direct insteon link instead of running off the ISY. I've done the restore links form isy (or something similar) a couple times, but it didn't stop. Thanks for all of your help!

I dont see the usefulness of the insteon bulbs. Definitely dont put in a circuit that already has an insteon switch because you could use a $6 led bulb instead of the $30 insteon bulb. I bought 2 of the insteon bulbs, and I haven't found a need for them yet. My thought is to add a can light in my bathroom and hardwire it in. Then I could use the 4 position switch to control it without running new wires.

I found it. It was my dumb mistake. I had a program that was supposed to be disabled, but after a party where I disabled a number of motion sensor programs, I re-enabled that one too! I renamed the program with disable in the name so I wont do it again. I still have a weird issue where the shopside driveway sensor will turn on the driveway house lights on during the day. It's triggered by that sensor for sure and these are the only programs that reference that sensor. Do you guys see a reason that this would happen? (you will see why the lights kept turning on! haha) Program = shopside motion trigger If Control 'Shopside driveway-Sensor' is switched On And From Sunset + 25 minutes and 15 seconds To Sunrise - 25 minutes and 25 seconds (next day) Then Run Program 'Shop side motion action disable!' (If) Run Program '1x motion beeps' (Then Path) Else Run Program '1x motion beeps' (Then Path) Program =Shop side motion action disable If Status 'Driveway street lights' is Off Then Set 'Driveway house lights' On Set 'Driveway street lights' On Set 'Garage side light' On Wait 15 minutes Set 'Driveway house lights' Off Set 'Driveway street lights' Off Set 'Garage side light' Off Else Set 'Garage side light' On Set 'Driveway house lights' On Wait 15 minutes Set 'Garage side light' Off Set 'Driveway house lights' Off

That is very similar to my setup. I have the 'guest + devices' router based off the cable modem. This is for all my roku's, internet phone, video cameras, etc. All the computers, printers, NAS, etc is behind another NAT/SPI router with higher security. My ISY is on the guest network to simplify things. I can connect to my video cameras from the private network with a different IP range, but not the ISY. Everything on my private network is invisible from the guest network (stealth ports). Probably some port forwarding work I need to do, or not use the myisy link and try using the ip address. I haven't looked at the programs yet, but I should have time tonight. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions!
-
I agree. Do programs ever get corrupted? Is it possible to change ISY programs over the internet? I can only seem to log on using the actual LAN that the ISY is on, and even my other IP zone that goes through the same final router wont work to access the ISY. As far as changing things, I have only enabled or disabled programs from my phone with no changes to any programs for a couple months.

I had a weird issue last night. I tried to turn off the outside house lights, and the street lights. I turned the house lights off first, then the street lights. In about 2 seconds the street lights turned back on as well as the house lights. If I turn off the street lights, they go off for a second, then turn back on. the house lights will stay off unless I turn off the street lights, then they both come back on. I unplugged the ISY and they work fine off the switches. Plug the isy back in and they do the same thing. It didn't matter if I turned them off with my phone, or the physical switch. I haven't even been into the ISY control panel for months now and everything worked fine until last night. Any advice?

If there is a remote control for the gate you could open it up and use the IOlinc to short out the button.
-
I dont think that's it, but it could be. I have at least 30 of these same LED bulbs. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CP7 ... UTF8&psc=1 The switch with issues has 5 or 6 of them on it. I have other insteon dimmers with single bulbs and double bulbs and there are no issues dimming these, except that they turn off if I go below 15%.
-
no, everything is insteon. I dont normally mess with the dimmer, but there were a bunch of us sitting outside and it was too bright. Normal full on operation seems to work fine. I tried 2 different dimming setting, roughly 20% and 80% and had issues at both points. In a 5 minute period it would flicker 1-2 times.
-
I have a 8 button dimmer switch running 6 LED lights on my patio. When I dimmed them to about 50% they worked fine, but every few minutes they would flicker and go to full bright or off for a second. All the lights did this so it was not a bad bulb. Any ideas? do I need to return this switch?
