Is there a simple way to replace a dead RemoteLinc (won't recharge anymore) with a new one? Would love to just copy it and not have to program the new one from scratch. The dead one is also the older 2444A2 and the "new" one is a 2342-2 if that makes a difference.

Yes, that did get the outlet installed. However, have had multiple issues of it not working. Plug a lamp in, with the little magnet, it buzzes and the red light flashes. Unfortunately, I am leaving for 3 days and won't be able to play with this until I return.

Good thouht...but I took a picture of it before I put the switch plate back on and it's good. Wish it were that esay.

I had an electrical spike and one of my outlets died. I've been trying to install an OutletLink Dimmer that I purchased several years ago. Tried various ways to install it but keep getting the attached message. Any idea what this means.

I also have MobiLinc X on my iPhone.

This issue has gone on for a long time....years.... I have tried tracking it down several times and ultimately given up. I check it about every month and did again today so I thought I'd take another shot at any ideas from here. I have no ELK products on my system. (Not even sure what ELK is) However when I run a log I get MANY Get Topology/ELK Errors listed. Between 8/3 and 8/9 I had over 4400 of these out of less than 6,000 total entries. They seem to come in batches of 3 every 6 minutes and last for any where form a single batch of 3 to 40 or 50 in groups of 3. I can't seem to lock down something that might be kicking it off or an entry that might cause it to stop. HOWEVER, it hasn't appeared in the last 4 days. That's the longest it's gone without showing up. I've made no change to my system and nothing seemed to be odd before it stopped. MAYBE, for some reason it has actually been cured. I doubt it. Does any of this make any sense?

Appreciate the note....Played with it for a few minutes....Didn't work. Will keep trying when I get a moment. HAve a good 4th!

Is there a simple way to copy the settings of a mini remote to a new one? One of my remotes won't hold a charge more than a few clicks. I wish they had replaceable batteries and it wasn't necessary to purchase new. Thanks.

Michel: Thanks for the reply. I checked "Disable..." in the Elk config as you suggested. (It was clear before) But I was unable to save it. I did close the program and restarted it and continue to get the error messages. I've attached a screen shot of the ELK page. -Jack

I'll wait to see how it works.... Have had some issues with new products. Any idea when ISY might have it in their system? External set button...FANTASTIC. I also like the USB ability to power and repeat messages BUT most of my applications don't have me near a power source. Bummer. Looking forward to reports once they come out.

Thanks for the info. I agree that it's a risk trying a "new and improved" product. I will check elsewhere and see if I can dig a current model up.

I had one of my motion sensor die. (2842-222) Replaced battery (original seemed to have plenty of power)...tried reset...no response at all. It's quite old and gets a lot of work! I tried to order another one from Smarthome and they say it's unavailable. Any idea if they just had a run on them or are they changing the product??

Thanks all. I found the resistor that I needed and all is working well. I agree that the best solution is the ON/OFF module but that does get expensive when you have a lot of the older Insteon products. I also wish that the ON/OFF module gave you pass through socket so you don't loose that availability.

Some time back I saw a post regarding a lamplinc or appliancelinc with very low voltage lights (like a single string of LED Christmas lights) that still stayed dimly lit even when they were "off". There was a comment that adding a resistor to a multi plug adapter would bring the amount of wattage up high enough to eliminate the issue. (Hope that isn't too confusing ) Does anyone know what size of resistor would work? Wattage/ohm etc.

I've seen for some time on various updates that one of the known bugs is: "Changing RemoteLinc2 from 4 to 8 button crashes the unit". Is this something that will be corrected? I use several of the RemoteLincs and often change back and forth between 4 and 8 button control.

Darn. I just put a big order in to Smarthome for their big sale. Never thought to try a FilterLinc. Next round I guess. I will try the OutletLinc when my order gets in and see if that solves it. Hoping the dual band will help.

I tried to run an ApplianceLinc off the same socket that my UPS is plugged into. Also controlling it with a mini remote 4 button. It will not respond. I know that UPS' often kill the signal. BUT if I plug the ApplianceLinc into the UPS it works. Does this make sense? And if I changed my socket to a Dual Band OutletLInc, would that work with the controlled socket for a lamp and the uncontrolled socket for the UPS?

Thanks for the direction. Will test it tonight.

oberkc: Not doing LED on the new lights. Old fashioned incandescent. I should have mentioned that before as I know some LEDs cause issues. The LED chandelier now works fine with a new ToggleLinc. Great Idea LeeG. Will give that a shot. Thanks. (BTW... Which wires go where on the extension cord? 3 wires and a ground with only 3 on the extension)

Yes. I have a fairly large setup with over 60 devices and at least 20 dual band throughout the house. This seems to be the only one that's giving me trouble. I'm GUESSING it may be bad. I previously had it on a chandelier with 8 LED lights and it was often flickering. I thought that it might be the LEDs causing that, but now that I've moved it to the other circuit, I'm leaning more towards a faulty switch. Was hoping that the error report might give someone a specific clue. (I still have trouble figuring them out!)

]I've installed a Togglelinc (2466DI V6.0) to control some outside patio lights. IT doesn't seem to want to complete the set up and the green icon indicating that I need to write updates to the device won't go away. I've attached a screen shot of the Event Viewer. Any ideas what's wrong? It is in a box with 3 other switches which do go to different circuit brakers on the main panel.

Yup! That worked.....just like it did last time. Now just to file this note and remember where I keep it!!! Thanks Teken

I had this before but don't recall how to stop it. When I start ISY I get a pop up with the Java screen starting. At some point in the past someone told me how to stop seeing that. Any recollection?

Taken: The random option, if I understand it correctly, would apply to the entire scene....... On at 9:00 one day, 9:15, 8:50 etc on other days. But it would apply to the entire scene and all lights would go on at the same time. LeeG: Great Idea with ramp rates, but quite a few of the candles are operated by some older units that don't have that option. Madman; I know that I could do a program but was trying to avoid that as I keep changing what's in the group depending on time of year. Easiest to drag items in and out of a scene. But that is probably the way I'm going to go. Possibly set up several programs that I can enable/disable depending on what I want when.
