  1. I have a scene for candles that we put in the windows every Christmas....probably 25 of them. A simple command and a timed program turns their scene all on or off together. Is it possible to have those candles go on with a slight pause between so that they appear to be operated by a person? I want the appearance that someone is actually doing it for security reasons. I know I can write a program for it with a few seconds between each, but was wondering if there would be a more simple program that wouldn't require every unit to be listed.
  2. I bought a TouchLinc a few years ago just as it was going out of production. I never got it to operate properly and it was also about the time I switched from Houselinc to ISY. So I put it back in the box and forgot about it. Is there anything I can do with it now with ISY?
  3. The mail box is 250' from the house. I was not able to get a reliable signal from house even though the opening faced the house and the access point perfectly. The problem, I believe, was that the mail truck was also blocking the signal when the door was opened. I do have a post light at the end of the driveway which is about 40' from the mail box. I put a Dual Band Bulb in there and left the power on to the lamp post. It works properly about 95% of the time. The door to the mail box does not open directly to the lamp post...probably about a 45 degree angle. It seems that I really need a strong battery in the MD to get the signal to work properly. I hope that helps.
  4. I like that idea. I do have the mounting plate. Will give that a shot.
  5. It did drive me a little nuts trying to find it. I have put twice the high end Velcro in the mail box and I like the idea of the Hi Viz tape on the sides! I also raised the mail box as much as I could hoping it may be under the plow wing.....but I don't think that's going to work.
  6. Found it! Had another 2 inches of snow since my original post. Texts stopped. So I figured it was buried. Then it warmed up and the rain came 2 days later. Yesterday the texts started up again and it was quite windy. Went down and found it, face up in the snow about 15 feet from the mail box. I figure that once the sensor was cleared the wind was causing enough of a temp change to trigger it. As to stusviews cold and wet capability comment...I'm impressed!
  7. That's my thought at this point too. I'm hoping it warms up a little as the snow right now is basically ice and getting through it would probably destroy the MD if I hit it.
  8. OKAY, really dumb issue...... I have an Insteon motion detector in my mail box to let me know when the mail arrives. It sends a text and turns a light on in my office. The snow plow hit the mail box the other day and must have sent the motion detector flying. I can't find it. I've walked the street hoping that I would set it off, assuming it was within range. No luck. But it seems to go through periods of sending me messages every few minutes for about 30 minutes or so. Then it is quiet for hours at a time. Any ideas on how to find the thing. White on white is not easy.
  9. I'll look into the Fanlinc and micro module. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for all the comments and thoughts. Here is a shot of the tag on the humidifier. It obviously is an old unit but works great! Hard to even find parts for it.
  11. I have a humidifier that I would like to control the fan at certain times of day due to the noise. High at night and low (and quiet) during the day. It is a 3 prong plug unit. It is a 3 speed unit but I have to obviously change this manually. Is there any way I can do this with my insteon/ISY system?
  12. It looks like it WAS the battery. Replaced it with a new lithium and all is well. It irritates me that the battery sensor never did anything!
  13. Raccoon not possible. Place closed up and it still reacts the same. Would the darkness sensor cause it to keep checking it's status? And if it's dark, it is supposed to turn on the lights. I do have a program to tell me if the battery is low....but if Zathros said his didn't trigger, that just may be it. I'll try the battery and see what happens.
  14. For months I've had a motion detector in the garage that turns on the lights (via togglelinc) and then turns them off after 2 minutes. Several other things involved like time of day and if there is continued motion. It's worked great for months. Recently the lights always seem to be on. I decided to disable the program and just let the motion detector work on it's own. Checking my log in the last 24 hours I've had over 1500 entries with 1400 of them being the sensor doing an on/of routine. I've attached a small screen shot of the last few minutes. Also a shot of the motion detector's settings. Any ideas what the heck I've got going on here?
  15. I have a dual band Outletlinc that is only 10 feet from a RemoteLInc keypad that has trouble communicating. But there is a big bookshelf in the way and the Outletlinc is in a steel box in an old plaster wall. Also have several motion detectors outside that are 75 feet from a dual band product and they work great.
  16. Brian H. Thanks for the 2 sites. Makes it a little easier to figure out what I've got that is Dual Band. On my other question about the RF vs Powerline.... I know it will send it either way, but what I'm trying to figure out is if it sends it from the garage via powerline (because it's too far for RF) when it hits the house will get back into the RF system or stay in the Powerline? Hope it will go RF again to reduce the problems I've had in the past with powerline noise in the house.
  17. Is there an easy way to tell from ISY which Insteon devices are Dual Band? I'm adding some togglelincs and outletlincs to my system and would like to have them spread out evenly through the house to improve the network. Also, IF I put a dual band device a LONG (150 yards) way from my house in a garage, when a remote single triggers a program out there I assume the signal gets to the house via the wiring. Once it is in the house does it get back onto the RF network or does it stay in the wiring? I'm hoping to avoid noise in the house wiring.
  18. It's funny how sometimes these things just get skittish and just don't like to play well together! Thanks for the assistance.
  19. OK... I ran the diagnostics and used Auto Discover and the thing worked! I did nothing different than before. I definitely was using the proper ID before as I confirmed that. I've attached the text file of the diagnostic run if it means anything to you. BTW, is there any way to make the text file a little easier to read? ISY-Events-Log.v4.2.2__Sat 2014.05.24 12.39.17.txt
  20. 4.2.2 is the latest firmware. Why would that not work?
  21. I just tried to install a ToggleLinc Relay Model # 2466SI V6.1 ISY won't install and I get an error of: Devices could not be added: Cannot determine Insteon Engine. I've tried the Auto discover, and several different ToggleLinc setting in the Device Type. The switch does work properly on site. Any ideas??
  22. Ah, it's dependent on the number of programs that I have that have timed events involved. That makes sense. Thanks.
  23. But is there a reason that I have periods when it checks 50+ times at the exact same time? I can understand it checking every 10 minutes.
  24. Trying to track down a couple of issues via my event viewer (this question has nothing to do with what I was looking for) and it often shows the same entry many times when checking the time. The following message was listed 67 times this morning. Sun03/23/2014 06:57:38 : [ Time] 06:57:44 14(0)Sun 03/23/2014 06:57:38 : [ Time] 06:57:44 14(0) I often see a time check, that's what I'm assuming it is doing, every 10 minutes but why the same check so often??
  25. Cooking obviously wasn't what I was looking for Yea for spell check. Insteon...thoughts were to have it turn on some lights depending on the time. Obviously controlled through ISY. I will look to have it so it can be hardwired in. I figured the power would be an issue if I tried for battery.
