The restore had finished and I have already individually updated any devices with a ! or 1101. All devices have finished updating successfully except for battery devices.
-
On a few I did a restore to the device, and it started working fine. On another I had to remove and add it again to get it working. I just removed and restored an OutletLinc and it still doesn't work. I can control it but don't get status updates.
-
It finally finished after about 45 mins or so. Of course, I had several devices that failed so I had to update them again. The only devices pending updates are battery devices. I'll deal with those later. I have a fairly large number of devices that don't report their status to the ISY when switched locally. Arg.... It's as I feared. The restore process would be unreliable and painful. Suggestions?

No X10 devices in my network.

How long should I expect restoring my PLM to take with 100+ devices and approx 750 links in my PLM? It's been running for about 30 min so far. BTW. My PLM died over the weekend and I didn't have a backup. It was on my to-do list but I was waiting to make sure all the v1.x stocks were depleted. Mine is under warranty but I didn't want until today to start the process and wait a while to get things running again. I ordered one from Amazon on Saturday afternoon (fulfilled directly by Amazon) and it was delivered today. It is a v2.0. Phew! My warranty replacement from Smarthome will become my spare. Can't wait for things to be back online!

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with your testing. It's been a source of frustration for many here.

A few points to consider and work with: 1. I agree with the previous suggestion for a potential for IP conflict. Unplug the ISY. Reboot your router. Wait a bit. Can you ping the IP of the ISY? If so, IP conflict. Or alternatively, set your ISY to another IP and see if the problem persists. 2. Is the device you're attempting to run the Admin Console on directly connected to the same switch as the ISY? On the same subnet? 3. Is the Elk connected to the same switch as the ISY? On the same subnet? 4. Can your computer you run the Admin Console on ping the Elk reliably?

It was a fast, incomplete response. You would need an condition to check that the status of the light is already on.

About to find out. My PLM died yesterday. I had buying a backup PLM on the to-do list but was waiting to making sure all the stock of the older version was depleted. I had to bite the bullet and order one from Amazon yesterday so I could get it on Monday. I'm expecting that to be the older one. On Monday I'll process a warranty RMA with Smarthome and hope they ship me the newer version. Well, I'll have my backup now.

If Time is <time> Then Adjust Scene Set Scene Off Wait 1 sec Set Scene On The wait is to avoid issues with communications from collisions.

Why use an alternative Output with a rule vs turning on Output 7/8 directly with the ISY? When you manually turn on an Output from ISY using the Elk tab in the Admin Console, what does the status show in ISY?Does it show on? What does the status show in the Elk? Keep in mind that if you're also running the ElkRP it takes exclusive control of the M1 and nothing else can manage it. It must be disconnected before testing. What is the trip rating of the relay? Those Outputs are 12v but only rated at 50ma. If that is the problem, you can connect your external 12v power to Output 3 which is a Form C Dry Contact relay instead the one you're using.

Your explanation would imply a few things. 1. The problem is EMF being EMITTED from the wires to affect thermostat. 2. The insulator around the conductor of the wire is itself an EMF shield. I personally think that's not possible. Perhaps the cleaning up the wires inside the thermostat has eliminated some cross-talk. It's worth noting you still have the problem since it's "almost all the time" in heat mode vs always. It just occuring less frequently. My wiring looked like that with the problem still occurring although my issue was "Energy" mode turning itself on/off. It is possible to buy EMF shielded wire and make a pigtail to connect inside your thermostat. Following with that, you'd also want to wrap the existing wiring in the wall with metal shield going up a foot or so. You could make an EMF shield with metal foil or any metal plate to sit between the wiring and the circuit board. The only solution I've seen work 100% is the one referenced above. Put an Ethernet noise filter in line.

The 2441ZTH is wireless, can be powered by battery or transformer, and can use an external temperature probe. You could mount the thermostat on an adjacent wall inside, drill a hole, and poke the probe to the outside.

Hard to get a quiet house around here. I ran it again several times with every program disabled and nobody walking around. I'm floating around 760. Hard to believe I'm nearing the limit with approx 100 devices in my house. I did have about 10 more devices I was planning to add. Multiply that with associated scene entries for them so I could be in trouble. What is the relevance of the 800 number Michel offered? What does the Count button do? Each link in the window is numbered so the last entry (plus one for zero record) always gives the same count? Are there times it doesn't?
-
Wait a minute. My 2413S PLM link count is 1060. Is my house going to blow up?

As frame of reference, I was told 5.x would be out this time LAST year.

If no programs are running that are based on Insteon messaging only, then the ISY isn't working at all and it's not just a network port issue. The ISY doesn't need an active Ethernet connection to run programs related to Insteon devices and events. I recommend plugging in a USB cable to it and connecting that to your laptop. That will give you direct console access like on a Cisco switch. Some versions of Windows recognize and install the driver for the USB to UART bridge connector. If not, you need to install Silicon Labs CP210x driver. The Com port number it's using can be seen in the Device Manager. Connections setting: 115200, 8,1, none. You'll also need a terminal emulator program. Ultimately you'll probably need to open a ticket with UDI.

Reading it again it's not clear. He said the "link light was not flashing" which at first I just read as "I don't have a link". The link light should be solid green, amber, or not lit based on whether the Layer 2 connection is established. The Activity light flashes with traffic but only if the Link light is lit solid.
-
There are no Ethernet link lights on either end so the problem would be unrelated to IP address, DHCP, etc without an active Layer 2 link. Since it's statically assigned to the ISY then you must not be doing DHCP snooping and Dynamic ARP Inspection which could ErrDisable the port when it sees unauthorized traffic and shut it down. Are you using port security to map MAC addresses to specific ports that could disable the port if it was lost on boot? Did you log into your switch and see if there are any log messages associated with that port? What does "show interface" indicate for that port? What happens when you plug it into a different port on the switch that is known to work? And of course, did you swap the cable? What happens when you plug a different device into the switch port in question? A power surge could've waxed the port on the ISY, the switch, or both.

Hmm.. Did you try restoring the PLM?

Only "Schedule" and "Condition" items will be placed in the If clause. When you click one of those two buttons the If clause is highlighted above. Notice the button below only has the "Add to If" option. It's not possible to add them to the Then or Else clauses. Only "Actions" items can be put in Then and/or Else clause. Any Action can be put in the Then or Else clause or even both. All Actions have an "Add to Then" or "Add to Else" button. They can't be placed in the If clause. So basically you can't do it wrong, although you can construct your logic in such a way it doesn't work the way you want. When the If clause evaluates as "True" the Then clause is executed. ANYTIME the If clause evaluates as "False" the Else clause is executed even if the Then is currently running. That is true in reverse as well. The If clause is evaluated immediately whenever there is a state change to any item in it. For example, when testing for the Status of a device in the If clause it will be evaluated anytime the device state changes from On, Off, Dim, etc. The new answer will cause immediate execution of either Then or Else clause depending on the answer. This is true even if one of the clauses is already being executed. Execution will stop, the If will be evaluated, and the new answer will drive the execution of Then or Else depending on the new answer even if the answer is the same as it was before. Execution begins anew for Then or Else. In your example, the If clause will be evaluated twice on Sunday at 10pm and at 1155pm. When it evaluates "True" on Sun at 10pm the Heat Point will be set to 44F. When the time schedule is over at 155pm it will evaluate False to run the Else clause and the program 'Veriform' will run but the set point will still be set at 44F unless some other program changes it.

Did you check in the links in the PLM or just the device? If the PLM doesn't have a corresponding entry in it's table it ignores the messages. Perhaps the replace process wasn't 100% successful with regards to the PLM.

What version of Mobilinc do you use? Mine shows folders for device, scenes, and programs, etc. Mobilinc is so slow as to be unusable for me so it basically sits unused on my phone and tablets.
-
One consideration is what your end state is going to be. Will you end up with approx. 20 devices or do you plan to convert the whole house and have 100+? A complicated structure for 20 devices and handful of programs probably is overkill. I use the following structure for devices/scenes. -Floor (e.g. 2nd Floor) - Room -Devices -Scenes -House Scenes -Occupancy Scenes -Mobilinc Scenes House scenes are things like all outside lights or the Xmas lights where the devices aren't associated with a single room. Occupancy Scenes are things like Away scenes, Sleep scenes, etc. Mobilinc Scenes is as it sounds. Basically it gives me a Favorites in Mobilinc through ISY in addition to the Mobilinc Favorites option. I keep my Z-wave thermostats in the root of the device tree. My program folders are grouped by function, not location. -Lighting Controls and Timer (timers to turn off lights, turning on lights at dusk, etc) -Floor -Room1 -Room2 -Garage Door -HVAC -IR Triggers -Leak Sensors -Low Battery and Heartbeats -Mobilinc -Occupancy Scenes -TOD (programs to determine time of day, dark vs light, weekday vs weekend, etc) -Away -Sleep -Guest -Vacation -Security Alarm -Security Cams -Smoke Alerts -Sonos -Startup Programs z.Archive (used to put programs I quit using. A recycle bin if you will.)

I've had mixed success with the custom etched KPL buttons. I think I'll try the clear button covers with picture paper in the laserjet.
