  1. Ironically all the equipment back there has hops left of 1 or 0. It's just that the EZIO8 is the one that fails to deliver. The rest work. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Next up in the hour I will try removing the plm and extended it away with an extension cord and try the test again and post results here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. hello everyone, xathros as that i start a new thread about my EZIO8 comm issues. background: the ezio8 is located with some pool equipment that is fed from a breaker in the outside house panel. all other insteon devices not at the pool equipment location is on two other panels (inside house panel and emergency generator panel). having comm issues with the ezio8 mostly (but the other insteon devices out there are fine). attached is a log just generated with the system as is. i sent on and off commands to 4 of the relays (1 relay #1 did not return to off when it said it had) had to send another off command to getbit to work. then query the whole device to confirm. also when relay 3 output turns on, the device it triggers is supposed to send back a voltage to input relay 4 which never works unless i query it. also attached is a pdf that shows all my insteon devices and what panels they're on. 4. Could these be attached to the breaker that feeds the pump. Another breaker feeds my whole box. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Paul you mention the XPNR. IT SAYS X10 in the information. Will this work or hamper insteon? Also the pool pump is 240... Not sure if this will work with that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Agreed they sold me my ISY and some modules. Good people. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. The street lights as we call them are just 120 lamps. No transformer or anything like that. When I was building the new box ironically I was wondering if the 24vac would cause noise... If I moved it to its own box, how far would it have to be? At this point since it's just the PLM that's flakey, I'm thinking I'll do the extension cord test, then if it works better, just give the PLM it's own box. AND YOU GET A BOX AND YOU GET A BOX AND YOU GET A BOX... Oh for your amusement: here's the old x10 clusterfun. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Yikes. There is a 24vac transformer in the same box as the other stuff. As far as moving the plm, not possible as there is no where else to put it.... Out there. I can temporarily add a longer cat 5 and extension cord to the plm and move it away from the box for testing purposes, if it solves it, then I'll try to figure out how to physically move it.... God! Another box out there just for the plm! ADDED: Here's the box that houses most things. The bigger pic is all the equip: From left to right: Controller box (inset pic) Main power box (and old pool timer disabled) Sprinkler controller Street lamps power box (just inline relay) Low voltage transformer Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Apostolaski: tried sending you a private message and it stopped me. Could you send me a message if that's ok? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I'm using the Ezio8 right now for pool equipment myself. Having communication issues with it right now (reliable signal) but I don't think it's the EZIOs fault... It's a distance/network problem that I'm working on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. This is all great information. Another piece of information: The pool equipment area contains: Insteon 240vac relay 2 inline relays 2 inline dimmers 1 plug in appliance And 1 Smartenit ezio8sa relay Outputs: 3 24vac solenoids (valves) heater trigger (open/close) 2 12v triggers for an led indicator light Inputs: 2 12v triggers from heater to determine status All the insteon modules work every time. Never a problem. The ezio8 is the problem. Occasionally commands don't go thru (forcing a query will show its true status). And the inputs rarely send the signal back to the ISY unless it's queried). So I'm at a loss on that one. Unfortunately the ezio8 is the most critical piece in terms of "needing to know its true state) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Hey everyone. Just trying to harden up communications. Still having some reliability issues with all the stuff living over at the pool equipment. Bought a few access points. Here's the problem. We have 3 panels (well 4 if you count the mini box out by the pool) Outside panel. Main breakers. Also contains one breaker strictly for everything by the pool (pool equip, valves, lights, landscape lighting, sprinklers and god knows what else). Inside panel handles about a third of the house. A new panel was installed for the generator with a transfer switch. Plm and most house are on genny panel well call it that). A few more devices on the inside panel. And the pool and landscape lighting on the outside box. There's no way to put any access points or anything on the outside box as most things on that are big ticket items. So how do I make sure stuff gets thru. I mean it is more or less but most communications to any device out in the pool area show hops left 0. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Sounds like a debugger might be great. Perhaps level 11 in the event viewer? (Anyone, anyone???) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I noticed that the log in excel shows all my events including programs. Great. Be cool to have the event log combined with this one. See how a programs results are handled by insteon events. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Is there a way to have the log reflect program activity as well? All I see from the event log is just insteon communications (and variable changes), oh and weather module updates. Be nice to see a programs conditions and results tied into output. Or am I missing something? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Interesting. I tried an experiment. KPL button a toggle mode. Only responder in a scene by itself. Program has button a on in if. Turns on device a. Other program sees if status of device a is on turn on the scene with KPL button a as a responder. Off if device goes off. All works. Now. Locally at KPL turned on a. Device goes on. LED lit Turned off device via Mobilelinc. Device goes off and KPL button a led went off. Great. Now if I press the KPL button a now it shows off and it goes on. Just as I wanted. So it keeps in sync with the device state because the program tells the button what the state of the device. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It be super awesome if someone did a nice photo step by step (ala iFixit on how to do this) visuals work great. I'd do it but I just got mine. Gonna give it 2 yrs and a day when it blows before tearing it up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Understood. However the devices have to go thru a series of program checks before can actually be turned on or off. My pool lights and spa lights are straight scenes. So those are good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thank you. I know I over thought it. Easy to Think of devices that connect to a load, but the KPL... Great news. Again, thanks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. A program reads kpl button press and does some things then tells button a to Light up or turn off (via a scene that has only that button in it as a responder). I do not want to use scenes (aside from lighting the button). So here's my question: when I turn the KPL button A LED to on (or off) via a scene triggered from within a program, is it changing its actual state? (For these questions I have a separate program that monitors the status of the target device and if it's on it, tells the KPL button a to turn on, if the status is off, then turn KPL button A off.) Example: Scenario a) person pushes button A on the KPL. Program interprets the on, turns on lamp A, and KPL led on. Normal thing. (KPL A is now on and so is the led) Scenario KPL Button A is off and led is off. Person turns on lamp A locally, lamp goes on, and program checking status sees it's on and again turns on the KPL LED via a scene (KPL as responder only) So when you turn on the lamp via the KPL, the KPL is actually in an on state. When I send a command to the KPL via a program that triggers a scene, is it just turning on the LED or is the button state now in on mode too? I ask this because I want to use my kpl buttons to not only be controllers but reflect the state of the device(s) they control, no matter what turned them on or off. Because my thinking is if KPL button A is off and you now turn on the lamp via other means and the LED Lights up, will the next button press on the KPL be an off command since we turned it on via a scene? If this is the case, it would solve a lot of problems... it would keep multiple remotes in sync without having to put them in no toggle mode or hit the button twice. I think I'm asking because I see the KPL as a series of virtual buttons that don't really control anything until they Re programmed to do so. Am I making any sense? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Well. Keep it in mind if you can manage it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. Speaking of password lengths... Does the ISY team have any plans for allowing longer passwords? 10 seems.... Fairly weak for something that's outward facing... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. My parents had installed a generac guardian 20kw and transfer panel and about half the house can run on it. It's brilliant. That's further down the line when I get all the pool stuff robust and idiot proof (which is oxymoronic p, since the idiot is programming it. Lol) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Thanks teken, your suggestions are valid and it's going to be done. I was using this as a test to see if I could track modules that went offline for whatever reason. One being we have a backup genny and I wanted to determine if power went out and generator came on to take over. So this was the program I used to check my programming. As for safety issues, the circuit has only popped once because we had a huge rain storm and the outdoor string lights popped the circuit. It worked as it was supposed to. After, I thought I wonder if the were a way to know if it's offline because one of the outlets has a rain bird plugged into it. Had I not known the circuit popped, the sprinklers would never have come on. GFCI's are supposed to be installed on all outdoor outlets (and in a sense they are thru the one parent). If water should ever get into one, they pop to save your life. Which is what they did. As far as replacing, I agree... The house was built in 98 and I guess to save a whopping 180$ they installed one gfci in the garage and hooked up 6 outlets around the house. Lame. It still works fine, it does what it supposed to do, but honestly I'd rather have them as local devices. And yes, it's not the only GFCI. There are others as well that are local.
