  1. Just wanted to make sure that it is a straight up swap and didn’t/doesn’t require any other procedures. I have the Pi version of the workaround installed as well….as options go. Just need to move my Pi setup closer to the ISY and PLM. Thanks for the quick reply.
  2. Excuse the rehash and I’m sure there’s a very good reason why not but…if you had a bad 2413S and bought a 2413U couldn’t you just swap out the main board versus replacing capacitors? Seems from what I’ve read that that’s the part that fails.
  3. I put in a support ticket. We'll see what happens.... I have a back up isy. I just want to get this one back up as well.
  4. Roger that
  5. The error was: Upgrade failed. Invalid system configuration file Should I try another factory reset before opening a ticket?
  6. After my initial factory reset i upgraded using this version of 5.0.16C (ISY 994i Series including Z-Wave support). From there I have a blank console with no devices. From your post I reset the dongle. Now that I've reset the dongle an attempted upgrade of the firmware. It resulted in "Can't enter into programming mode" during the upgrade and "ZWave 15 Upgrade Z-Wave Firmware" Command failed. The Zwave version currently showing is 4.55.00 I realized that the highest I can go on this box is 5.0.16C. The back up is from 5.0.14. Should I reset the dongle again than re-factory rest the isy?
  7. Long story short...I F'd up. Had to reset my isy. Its an older version with a ZW daughter board I put in. I went from factory to 5...16C after the reset than tried to apply my backup 5...14. I have two backup files. They both had the same error. I choose the first file when upgrading.
  8. I was able to get my ISY back up using a reset followed by and upgrade. I went to restore all my devices and I get an error message: Upgrade failed. Invalid system configuration file. Anyone know what this means and/or how to get around/solve it?
  9. Excellent! I ordered a Witmotion 6 in 1 and the RJ45 adapter. Can’t wait to put this bad boy together. thanks for all the work you put into it!
  10. Since I’ll be dual purposing a Pi4 with this build…how did/does the cpu overhead on the zero look while it’s running?
  11. Well that’s embarrassing… Does the Witmotion 6 in 1 work reasonably well? The board you guys ended up using doesn’t look like it’s available anymore on Amazon. I noticed @MrWorf used that in his initial testing.
  12. Do you have the link to that post?
  13. One last question....Will this procedure work with a 2413U?
  14. Thanks! I had a little time on my hands when we went into lock down last year and my son-in-law has a 3d printer. Spent a little time in freecad, a little specing of 5 port switches, power supplies, and the blades (which can take a range of voltages!) and wala!
  15. Yeah, I'm pretty cheap too! Ha. I have a Pi dedicated to Polyglot. I was thinking of dual purposing that as both Polyglot and PLM. I have my Pi's in a 3D printed enclosure that's my server farm. 3Pi's on two bitscope blades. Power supply and ethernet switch onboard. The blades are an uno and a duo so I have a spot for a hat. I also have a little spare room upstairs, as we say, on the blade side. Hmmmmm....You have me thinking!
  16. I am very interested in this project. Anything new since July? I "think" you used a pi zero due to it's size. Would a pi4 work as well?
  17. Do you have the link to the converter thread? I'd like to have a look. I searched for it but I didn't see it Back in the day when Polyglot came out some pure genius wrote a program for the RPi. The RPi has USB connectors. I'm sure it's a ton of work/trouble, and would involve modification to the ISY programming, but has anyone tinkered with the idea of using the ISY's ethernet to back channel the commands to an RPi and have the RPi forward thru the USB port?
  18. I didn't read all 5 pages of posts, so excuse the reask if the answer is already out there. To summarize what I've read: Smarthome is/has discontinued the 2413S PLM except for possibly some warranty replacements...and they are showing currently out of stock. That being the case can someone summarize what the current and future workarounds are?...(Michel?) Posts sometimes get off topic and the proposed/suggested solutions get lost in the mix. I'm one of those guys that needs your basic "buy this and plug it in here" instructions....even if it's a software interface to Raspberry Pi to Outlet connector I can deal with that. What makes me a tad nervous about this situation is having an entire home installation contingent on a single device that's discontinued without a backup plan. I don't know about you guys but I'm married and even the thought of my entire house being offline due to a part I can't get isn't a good one.
  19. Yeah, it's definitely a 300 board than. and yup it's the stock SD card. I once had a raspberry pi run 24/7 for 8 yrs. I just replaced it last year. I now have 3 Pis on two bitscope blades running in a case I designed and my son-in-law printed for me. I run a Polyglot, DNS, VPN, and a NAS. because I have a VPN I have a secondary NAS back up at my son-in-laws house. I've found that once you get your system up and running to where you want it the best course of action is to never upgrade the software. Don't even think about it. Just let it run (I know...I broke that rule. Ha) Since the recent issue with having to rebuild the Polyglot I now also have images of all my installs. In the event of an SD card or board failure I can be back up within minutes assuming I have the hardware in hand. Once I get the ISY back up I'm going to create an image of that SD Card as well.
  20. It's definitely a 300 board or less....if there is a less. I remember I ordered it when it came out as an expansion board. thanks for locating the release file. I wasn't paying attention when I upgraded. I don't upgrade often. I try not to fix things that aren't broken. I rebuilt my Polyglot server because the SD card got toasted. Raspbian sets the swappiness to 60 which wears an SD card out after a year or so with all the writes. So after rebuilding the Polyglot I ended up with ghost nodes even after deleting on the ISY. While playing around chasing ghosts and the reasons for them I noticed that 5.3.4 was out and decided, since I'm in rebuilding mode, to upgrade....bad move on my part. My father used to say: If you're going to be stupid you're going to get hurt. I was being stupid. Ha Thanks for the help.
  21. I'm not sure what Zwave version I was running. I do know that my zwave board is older than 2018 though. So by deduction it looks like 5.0.16C might be the way to go than upgrade to latest in the new ISY. For the old ISY, I'll try a factory reset with a new SD card and see what happens. From what you've said, when I applied 5.3.4 my ISY probably had a WTF moment. Ha
  22. I did some checking, not exhaustive but a few pages in. I don't see where "older" versions are kept.
  23. From checking the portal I was on 5.0.14. Checking to see where prior versions are stored since the rest of the known world is on 5.3-ish
  24. Well I haven't gotten the new ISY yet. That said, I was assuming that the backup I have is the data side of life associated with a minimal level of firmware. (ie if there was a new enhancement I had on the isy that I made the backup from there'll be an issue if I tried to load that up on a lower level firmware.) Figuring most software is backwards compatible (except in the case of platform migration) I was planning on first bringing the new isy up to the latest firmware than applying the backup to that. Correct procedure? As for the Portal thanks for the heads up.
  25. I'm assuming that I can bring up a new ISY utilizing a back up from the old ISY. Is there also a way to migrate my portal to the new ISY easily? The portal looks like it's based on UUID.
