  1. ok for the 3 way issue. I set kpla as controller for dimmer kitchen. I press kpla and kitchen dimmer is activated, led for kpl-a is lit. when I goto the Kitchen dimmer and turn off the dimmer turns off but command back to Kpl-a does not shut off the LED its still in an on state. I have set another scene that makes the dimmer as controller and kpl-a as responder to shut the led back off but wasnt sure if this was the way it has to be done.
  2. Ok thanks. My other question/issue. I have 1 kpl button using like a 3way switch for kitchen dimmer switch. I set scene for kplA as controller and Kitchen dimmer as responder now when i want kitchen dimmer as controller back to kpla as responder do I have write 2 scenes to accomplish this? Does not look like i can have the kpl-a as both controller and responder in same scene.
  3. I have 2 keypad links installed right now. I use keypad link button A on one to perform the scene Bedtime. This shuts off all lights in the house. however My second keypad link is using button B as a controller for one set of lights in my kitchen via a scene. when I press the bedtime command the lights do turn off as intended, however if the kitchen dimmer that is linked to 2nd keypad B was turned on using the keypad B then that light still stays on. do I need to create a second scene to link my bedtime all off setup to also go through and turn off any linked keypads? or are programs the best practice for this?
  4. all set with the wiring now guys, thanks. Now on to the programming......
  5. Yes I plan to cap and leave notes inside the box for my memory in case i move and want to take my stuff with me.
  6. Ok here is the setup. I have changed my mind on the micros. Just not sure what im doing with the travelers. I assume for the 4 ways that I want to delete anyways i just wire reds together and blacks together then put blank cover on? Here is links to my images in full size. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4371738/Pics/Lights/drawing.JP https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4371738/Pics/Lights/Box1.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4371738/Pics/Lights/Box2.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4371738/Pics/Lights/Box3.JPG so delete box 2. wire in insteon dimmers at box 1 with power input and box 3 with power to loads.
  7. Yes i was going by memory at the time of my initial posting. Its actually 3 sets of cans. 2 of the sets have 3 lights and are dimmable LED. the 3rd set has 7 lights of the same dimmable led's. the 2 sets with 3 lights in each are controlled by 3 locations. the 7light setup is actually only controlled at 2. After speaking with my wife, we realize that the 2 sets that are controlled from 3 locations we can delete one switch altogether and control from 2. so I will post my wiring diagram shortly and go from there.
  8. the aeotech zwave micros are rated at 300w
  9. That would be fine if I only had 1 set of lights. but I actually have 4 sets of can lights that all have 4 entry's so now we are talking 1600.00 vs 800.00 I just bought 1 dimmer and 1 micro to test. Btw the micros and dimmers are on clearance at menards for 35.00 ea. Once i get the boxes opened up (tomorrow) I will post the wiring I see according to where I would like to place the insteon switch. Thanks for the help guys.
  10. Hello I have been slowly incorporating insteon/zwave devices in the home. The last ones on my list are the main living room lights. There are 4 locations that have on/off switch boxes that control the same set of can lights. I only care about being able to Dim the lights from 1 location and/or using mobilinc. In order to make it a full insteon setup I would imagine I have to buy 4 switches ($200.00) and rewire the travel wire setup which is why I have not done so just to control one set of lights. I am thinking I should be able to keep all my existing on/off switches and install a micro on/off dimmer module located behind the last feed that actually controls the load. Then I should be able to just install only 1 insteon dimmer switch at my preffered location and have it only control the load through programming it to the micro module as a controller and not hooking anything up to the load wire correct?? my other question is once i install the insteon dimmer switch and hook nothing up to load wires. what do i do with the existing 3 way wiring to keep the other switches working as they were.
  11. I am using an Arzel hpp4 zone panel. you install the dampers in each of your 6" runs. this works well in a home that is not already ducted separate for zoning ahead of time. you run pneumatic tubing to each run and its controlled by the zone panel using pumps. These dampers have rubber sleaves around the whole closing mechanism to make them really close tight, no air bypass. you can change your zones easliy by just moving one tube to another branch right at the board. You can also install what is called a slave board. This can operate dampers without a call for heat or cool. you could then control a simple 2 wire thermostat to change what is happening in that one area dependent on what the rest of the system is doing. The board is very customizable. look it up. I am an hvac contractor i can tell you that these boards alone cost me about 650.00 plus about 50.00 per damper. I have 20 dampers.
  12. I see the plan to plug the micro module into the Ac box inside. My question is does the micro module you speak of also have the capability of switching a 120 v load as well as the dry contacts in the same unit? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. do they make an iolink device that the 120v can also be triggered on off? this would work perfect for fireplace control as you explain but also plug the blower into the 120v and set to turn on after xxxx minutes of gas ignition. while keeping everything tidy inside the fireplace.
