New SD Card Issue
I was able to use the original 32GB card. Here is the executive summary: Use a Windows PC to format the SD card and to copy the firmware files to the card. If you are a Mac user, you may experience the same problems I did if you decide to go the route of using MacOS disk utility. For whatever reason, the ISY will not read the card and report an error by flashing its red error light. Read further if you want some details. I first tried formatting the 32GB SD card in MacOS Disk Utility in FAT32 format. I subsequently copied the firmware files to the SD card, ejected it and installed the card in the ISY. This resulted in the controller starting up and reporting an error. Next, I tried formatting the card in the ISY itself from the ISY shell. The format operation curiously did not complete with the expected completion message. I was reluctant to try copying the files and trying to boot with the card. I then ordered a 16GB SD card, formatted it in Disk Utility, then copied the files to the card and tried it out in the controller. No joy. Same error. Since I had access to another SD card from which the controller would boot successfully, I tried cloning the card using Disk Utility, creating a dmg file from the known good 4GB SD card and writing the image on to the 16 GB card. Again the ISY complained about the cloned card as well. I tried Balena Etcher to write the card from the image created again to see if that made any difference. It didn't. So I tried making a bit for bit copy of the working card to an image file using the dd utility, then I tried the cloned SD card in the ISY. Same error. I was out of ideas other than what Geddy suggested. So I tried formatting the 32GB SD card on a Windows laptop, copied the files to the card and tried this out. This worked. I don't know what the subtle differences are in the FAT32 formats on Windows and Mac, but I think there is one. If anyone is going to try a bit for bit copy of a card, try using the same size card. Just take the easiest route and find a Windows machine. You will save yourself a lot of time and headaches.

Local Reference Functionality with Alexa Groups
Has anyone been able to get the local reference functionality with Alexa Groups to work with ISY scenes? If you have Scene A and B in three different rooms, call them A1, B1, A2, B2 and A3 and B3, I'd like to be able to say "A on" in room 1 and activate Scene A1, "B on" in the same room to activate Scene B1. In room 2, say "A on" and have Scene A2 activate and so on. There are Echo devices in each room assigned to each of the three groups. I asked a similar question in late 2022 and it seemed light there was a solution for references to actual devices like lights and switches. I primarily use scenes because most of my lighting circuits involve n-way switches and it's nice for all the switches for a circuit to maintain state.

New SD Card Issue
I think I'll try a smaller size card and see if this works

New SD Card Issue
Formatting the SD card in the ISY seems to hang the shell. I never get an OK response when it's done. I can format the card in MacOS disk utility as a FAT32 partition. Can the SD card be inserted after the ISY boots and the Admin Console is brought up?

New SD Card Issue
I did not follow step 3 because I was unable to launch the Admin Console with the formatted card installed. Is it possible to install the card after the Admin Console boots? I think the Admin Console came up without the SD card installed.

New SD Card Issue
I have a backup ISY 994i controller which did not have a SD card in it. I purchased a new 32GB PNY micro SD card and formatted it to FAT32 format per the documentation available. After inserting the card and starting up the ISY, the indicator lights seem to reflect the state of the controller correctly. So I attempted to start the Admin Console for this controller. The Admin Console would not come up. I connected to the ISY via Telnet. From the ISY shell, I formatted the SD card using the FS command. Not sure if you're supposed to get the shell prompt back after formatting it. The session timed out. I assume the formatting was complete and try starting the Admin Console again, but nothing came up. I swapped the SD card from another ISY not in use and the Admin Console started up just fine with it. So I'm assuming the issue has something to do with the SD card. Can anyone provide me with any guidance on this? Formatting the card from Disk Utility on a Mac with a FAT32 partition didn't generate any errors.

Capturing Extended Event Logs
I'm interested in analyzing device to device traffic over an extended period of time. Some behavior is hard to reproduce. If an unexpected event suddenly occurs, it is useful to note the exact time of the event, then reference an extended log for analysis.

Capturing Extended Event Logs
How do you get past the Admin Console timeout? Thanks!

Capturing Extended Event Logs
Does anyone know of a way to capture event logs for a day up to a week for level 3 events?

Does anyone auto turn-off your IP modem?
I had a problem a long time ago with my modem. My service provider is Comcast. Here is what the technician disclosed during our exchange: Downstream Power: ideal: -7 dBmV to +7 dBmV marginal: +/-10 bad: > +/- 12 Signal to Noise Ratio: good: > 35 dB marginal: 30-34 dB bad: < 30 dB Upstream Power: ideal: 35-50 dBmV marginal: > 52 dBmV bad: > 54 dBmV

My ISY994i became very sluggish in controlling...
Doesn't error code 6 refer to no such device or address? It looks like the system rebooted twice. Were both reboots intentional?

Does anyone auto turn-off your IP modem?
You could always do it the low tech way. The hardware store has some plug in digital timers that will turn things on and off based on how it's programmed. To check your modem's uptime, could you use a site like Uptime Robot to monitor your endpoint? I know they have a free tier for running small tests like this. Some modems have internal diagnostics accessible online. Cable modems record Downstream Power, Signal to Noise Ratio, and Upstream Power. A high upstream power value is usually the cause of many intermittent failures. Your service provider can provide you with information on the acceptable ranges for each metric recorded.

Use for ezflora or EZIO8SA ?
Anything that requires a 24VAC or some low voltage signal to actuate is a good candidate for your surplus. You could use it for example to add water to a water feature when the water level gets to a certain level and keep it topped off. Another idea along a similar vein is for dispensing chemicals into your water feature to correct the pH level or something similar for automatic maintenance. You could in theory also inject fertilizer in a sprinkler line as needed for feeding your garden plants.

Micro Module Open/Close Question
I recently added a micro module open/close module to open and close a shade with an up and down wires on the shade motor. I wired the up and down wires to the two terminals on the module for this and used both sense wires for connecting to a dual momentary contact switch. I added the module to ISY and was expecting to see two sub nodes, but only see one. How does one control the up and down functions via the Admin Console?

Insteon Outlet for Exterior Application OK?
Insteon does offer an outdoor on/off plug. I think it's dual band it it works well for me for operating some water feature pumps. In case you are looking for an alternative to installing an Insteon outlet outdoors. There are companies that make outdoor water-resistant boxes for running your cable into the box. You can use an on/off module in the box and keep it dry. The boxes come in all sizes for your specific installation requirements.

UPS and Insteon Best Practices
I want to add a UPS for supporting a circuit with an alarm panel and my cable modem and router. These devices are in close proximity to my PLM currently, and might be difficult to move. I have read on this forum that UPS devices are Insteon signal suckers and blockers. What is the best practice to install the UPS without compromising the reliability or integrity of the PLM function?

SWL odd behaviour
If you're saying the device responds to direct on/off commands but doesn't respond as a member of a scene as a responder, the first thing I would check is if the links were created for the scene. You can manually test this by linking the Switchlinc to be controlled by another device like a Switchlinc with no load or a Keypadlinc and assigning it to a button that is not the first button on an 8 button Keypadlinc or one of the four buttons on a 6 button Keypadlinc.

Error 200 While Synchronizing
My ISY994i is on firmware version 5.3.4.
-
Error 200 While Synchronizing
I ended up deleting the app and reinstalling it when I could not get passed this error. I still get the same error running the sync command.

Error 200 While Synchronizing
Has anyone encountered an error 200 while the ISY994i is synchronizing in UD Mobile? The synchronization process stops at Programs and generates this error message.

RS-485 Recommendations
I have a number of RS-485 controlled shades in my home. I would like to control these shades using my ISY. What kind of bridge would you recommend for sending out the command strings to the RS-485 bus?

Protection Against Device Failures
Hi there, Is the installation of a whole house surge protector insurance against damage of Insteon modules installed in a house against power delivery issues from the power company? I see posts here about how users have power outages that damage Insteon modules when the power is turned back on.

2413S v1.0 PLM Repair
I have a dead Access Point 2443 v2. Instead of recapping the v1.0 PLM, can I recap the 2443 board and then install the daughter card from the PLM on the 2443 board? If one compares a v2 PLM to the v2 Access Point, the main board look identical.

New ZWave Device Update?
Tried deleting and re-adding the module in close proximity to the ISY. Same behavior. Once added, do ZWave devices update without being in linking mode?

New ZWave Device Update?
Just to be clear, the entities for the module were created and everything looked like it completed. But after a few minutes, the <Writing> icons started to show up.
