I was hoping someone could provide a link to a page or a link to the cookbook with a page number. I've looked hard for this information, but I've not found it using google searching the wiki. I've read the section for scene's in both the wiki and the cookbook, could someone point me to where the information is? Sorry, I've pulled my hair out on this one. https://www.universal-devices.com/docs/production/The+ISY994+Home+Automation+Cookbook.pdf

Question about Scenes and if this is part of the 5.x updates. I have a scene with two Insteon 2477D dimmers, Dimmer 1 and Dimmer 2 They are both responders and controllers for the scene, and only Dimmer 1 and Dimmer 2 are part of the scene. The scene is currently off and both dimmers are off. If in the Universal Devices Administrative Console I send a "on" command to Dimmer 1, I was expecting both would be on. However only Dimmer 1 is on, and Dimmer 2 is off. That is normal? If so, could someone point me to the documentation that explains the details of this so I can better understand what is going on?

I initiated a reboot of the isy994i via the my.isy.io portal. I opened the admin, and it went through a refresh starting a 1% and it took it a few minutes to complete. When completed, the 3 open close sensor didn't have a status. I cycled the garage doors, and then they all three had a status open. I went to sensor 1 and clicked the options and received a platform_errors--7145 and a platform_errors--7123.

I was trying to go to the options for a 2421 tiggerLinc v.43 and ran into this loop, I'm not able to close the application. When I right click on the application and say close it does nothing. I've killed the java task, cleared the cache from Java and reinstalled using the http://your.ip.address/admin.jnlp link. Now it's doing what is described above. I'm going to look at the logs remotely on the my.isy.io web stie. Events don't show anything in the last 5 minutes. 4E 3B BA 4 ST On 2020/04/19 13:00:21 System 5 n004_10520874 ST Closing 2020/04/19 13:13:43 System 5 n004_10708784 ST Closing 2020/04/19 13:13:43 System 5 n004_12145883 ST Closing 2020/04/19 13:13:43 System 5 n004_10520874 ST Closed 2020/04/19 13:14:08 System 5 n004_10708784 ST Closed 2020/04/19 13:14:08 System 5 n004_12145883 ST Closed 2020/04/19 13:14:33 System 5 4E 3B AD 1 ST Off 2020/04/19 13:14:53 System 5 4E 3B AD 2 ST On 2020/04/19 13:15:54 System 5 4E 3B CC 1 ST Off 2020/04/19 13:16:55 System 5 4E 3B CC 2 ST On 2020/04/19 13:17:56 System 5 4E 3B CC 1 ST On 2020/04/19 13:17:56 System 5 4E 3B CC 2 ST Off 2020/04/19 13:18:57 System 5 4E 3B CC 1 ST Off 2020/04/19 13:18:57 System 5 4E 3B CC 2 ST On 2020/04/19 13:19:58 System 5 4F C2 38 1 ST 100% 2020/04/19 13:20:59 System 5 4F C2 38 1 ST Off 2020/04/19 13:20:59 System 5 40884 DOF 2020/04/19 13:21:04 D2D -1 4F D1 67 1 ST Off 2020/04/19 13:24:02 System 5 n004_10520874 ST Open 2020/04/19 13:24:02 System 5 n004_10520874 ST Open 2020/04/19 13:24:02 System 5 40884 DOF 2020/04/19 13:24:07 D2D -1 Error log has some items that I'll try and track down- 2020/04/19 13:06:51 System -170001 <s:Envelope><s:Body><u:SetDebugLevel xmlns:u="u 2020/04/19 13:14:52 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B BA 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:15:53 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B AD 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:16:54 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B AD 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:17:55 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B CC 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:18:56 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B CC 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:19:57 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B CC 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:20:58 System -6 AutoPin : L2G [4E 3B CC 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:21:59 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C4 9B 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:23:00 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C2 37 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:24:01 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C6 69 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:25:02 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C4 9B 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:26:02 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C2 37 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:27:03 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C6 69 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:28:04 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C4 9B 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:29:05 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C2 37 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:30:06 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C6 69 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:31:07 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C4 9B 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:32:08 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C2 37 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:32:31 System -5012 34 2020/04/19 13:33:09 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C6 69 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:34:10 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C4 9B 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:35:11 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C2 37 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:36:12 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C6 69 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:37:13 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C4 9B 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:38:15 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C2 37 1] (GP has it) 2020/04/19 13:39:16 System -6 AutoPin : CSL55 [4F C6 69 1] (GP has it)

So I'm not crazy, I see what you're talking about here as well. I'm been trying to figure out why some motion detectors and events are not triggering lights, and why the off events are not triggering. I've found that it seems if I use the program to control dimmers directly rather than through scenes things are reliable. My environment is full of scenes that are 3 way switches. Where one 2477d is switching the light, and another 2477d is just there to act as a three way switch. I'm having a hard time tracking down what is happening as it seems like when things are busy during the day, many things happening at the same time I'd expect that I'd have the issues. But the opposite is the case, I run into issues in the evening when very few things are going on. I'm going to start a new thread on this, and see if perhaps the way I've setup the programs is the cause rather than the trigger of the scene vs the device.

Small item, that has been happening for the last couple of versions. When I create a new state variable, give it a name, and set the init value. The only think that saves is the name, it discards the value I set for init. Additional detail, it works as expected only, if you set the value in the Init, and click the save, if you click anywhere else on the application, like back on the Name field and click save it ignores the Init value. Expected behavior would be that it would save the init value, and set the value to that initial value.

I'm interested in the Skybell poly as well. I have a Honeywell system that used the Total Connect 2.0 app, and it is connected to the SkyBell. Without integration into either of those, I keep thinking about biting the bullet and installing my M1-Gold and buy a Ring doorbell. Still crossing my fingers that the vendors will hurry up and get their act together and publish APIs. I wish there was a solution that utilized my local Synology NAS as the doorbell solution.

Has anyone else noticed this, I'm not sure it's a feature or a bug. I have a bunch of Insteon switches and a few of the locations have 6 switches. Almost all of them are the 2477D v.45 When I click multiple at the same time, close to the same time I see the LED indicate turning off, or on depending on if I'm turning it off or on. Then the red LED on the switch will blink for a couple of second and go out. Is this normal? Got it.... just found it in the your devices list. I wrongly assumed that a scene would not be a in the device list.

When physically turning the mudroom switch on, it turns the home scene on, and when physically turning it off, it turns the scene home off. But when from ISY software turn the switch on and off it turns just the switch on and off. What I'm trying to do is turn the scene home on and off via a program that is triggered by a number of different events.

Sorry if this has been already answered, I've been search and reading looking for this for a couple of hours now to no avail. I simply want to be able to control a scene from a program. I have a scene called home, with a single switch 2477D called Mudroom 1 as the controller and the rest of the devices in the house are responders in the scene. I was thinking that all I would have to do is to change the Mudroom 1 to either on or off and that would work, it doesn't. I'm using the current 5.16 software. Thank you, it's been quite the head scratcher. -Todd

Thank you for all the input, I thought I would share some things that I've found with my research. First, it turns out there is an application for both Android and iOS that will allow you to add devices, so I'm planning on walking through the house and added the devices that way. https://www.agaveha.com/packages/ I didn't know that there were more options with the Pro version, that is news to me. I'm going to try and research the Pro features, seems like this would be something very useful. We're in an area that just about everyone has home automation, we're going all in it. I've used a couple of these switchbots, and I can't wait to try the SwitchBot Curtains.

Ohh... Great advice, do you normally just rename via laptop or mobile device?

I'll start off with a little background on this new installation- I've wire our new house by treating everything as a one way switch for all of the lights, and each location that I wanted to have 3 way switches pull one of the one way switches to that location. Then have just have the additional boxes, or spaces for the number of 3 /4 way switches that I wanted to have at that location. It just happened to work out perfect that all of the locations that I wanted to have a switch we actually wanted more then one. (Skip down if you get what I'm saying I'm going to throw out a couple examples) So imaging if you have a door in the master bedroom going outside. You'd like to have a switch to turn the light on that is on the patio, but you'd also like to be able to switch the flood lights on in the backyard from that same location, and you'd like to be able to turn the lights on in the master bedroom when you come into the bedroom from the patio or turn them off when going to the hot tub outside. Solution have the switch to the patio there and I have two other boxes that only have hot, neutral and ground wires (Coming from the patio wiring). (In this case it's a box that can handle 3 switches) So I put 3 2477D Insteon devices in that location, one controls the patio light, and the other two are hooked up to power, and then set each one of those to control the respective switch that is located elsewhere in the house. So switch two sends on off commands to the flood lights, and switch three sends on off commands to the master bedroom. So my question is, I have about 75 to 100 2477D insteon switches that are being installed. When using an ISY994i and a PLM, any suggestions on the installation? With this many devices, do any of the PROs out there have suggestions on how to do this and save some time? This saved money on the wiring side of things, the electrical contractor let me put as many boxes in as I wanted, and nicely ran the wires in the box for me. (Since he had no three way switches to wire or money spent on the extra wire required to do 3 way hardwired)

Just wondering if there is any coincidence between the UDI device and this- https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-4-on-sale-now-from-35/ Just funny that they were announced at within a few week of each other. Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Here are the highlights: A 1.5GHz quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU (~3× performance) 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB of LPDDR4 SDRAM Full-throughput Gigabit Ethernet Dual-band 802.11ac wireless networking Bluetooth 5.0 Two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports Dual monitor support, at resolutions up to 4K VideoCore VI graphics, supporting OpenGL ES 3.x 4Kp60 hardware decode of HEVC video Complete compatibility with earlier Raspberry Pi products Just noticed that it's based on the PC Engines APU2, very interesting.

I use the Bluetooth Class 2 for a couple of things, it's more expensive (I think since there are less products produced causes the expense) and harder to find, but the distance is great.

Just read the news about the new polisy here -https://www.universal-devices.com/introducing-polisy/ I'm wondering since it has bluetooth, will it be able to communicate with remote indoor fans? Sorry I put this here, but there was not a forum for the Polisy yet.

We're installing Levon 72 fan(s) in the house, and I'm trying to figure out how to control the fan with our ISY994i. It looks like the option is to use their Fansync Bluetooth receiver link below. I looked around to try and find something to integrate with home automation. I asked my electrical guy, and the lighting lady, and they both gave me a deer in the headlights look. They were all up on the automating the lighting around the house, but as soon as I asked about the fan with the light they had no idea. Any ideas, need some help on this. In a couple of rooms the fan light will be the main light, and not being able to control that via the ISY994i is going to be a bummer. https://www.fanimation.com/products/index.php/controls-remotes/fansync-bluetooth-receiver-downlight-1324.html

By any chance do you have a mix of copper and aluminum wiring in the house? Many cheap fixtures have braided aluminum wiring. I have a cheap fixture that was blinking and doing all sorts of weird stuff with LED's finally I pulled it off, and sure enough it was copper and aluminum. I could tighten the wiring nuts, and it would fit it. If I was still using high wattage bulbs there I would have replaced the ceiling lamp. -Todd

Same here, it was working around 630am PT this morning, it's not working now. Can log into my.isy.io, but when trying to have the portal connect via ISY web access, or pull up the log, it fails.

+1 very interested in this!

@stusviews I think there is a misunderstanding, specifically and not theoretically, Insteon doesn't do something I wish it would, which I have clearly defined above. How this would be implemented in the Insteon protocol is immaterial, since it has been explained that they made a choice that precludes supporting what I want. I have been educated by the responses, and it has given me a deeper understanding of the possibilities and the limitations of the protocol. Perhaps I misunderstood what you were trying to say when you said you have no problems and that you are happy with the results when you adjust your scenes. How are you adjusting the scene using the Alexa app? Do you only use it on your computer, and how does it dim or brighten a scene with multiple devices and what do you do with the Alexa app to accomplish that? When you dim a scene with multiple devices what is the result, is it a one by one dimming or the whole scene at once or some thing else? My main question was if the other protocols out there support dimming scenes? I should not assume that this could be implemented with A ISY994, and ask the question if there are other protocol, would that concept and protocol be supported by an ISY994? I will experiment with your suggestion Scott, and see if the desired effect can be implemented. I think it will require adding some programs and commands to Alexa, which the amount of commands is getting a bit overwhelming with all the names already in there. Best regards, Todd
-
Good afternoon, While I understand what has been explained about how it does it. I don't except that just because there are multiple ways to interpret a request, a feature shouldn't be implemented. This is a knock on the protocol. I expect that everyone would say having a whole room start dimming at the same time, is a completely different experience then having each device in a room start dimming one after another. The later seems very ameature and unpolished, and it would be out of place in a multimillion dollar home. Does any of the other protocols deal with the concept of dimming a "scene" or a group of device in the way that seems professional? Z-Wave? Best regards, Todd
-
@ScottAvery I'm surprised that you can't do a group dim to a level using Insteon and ISY994i. The Alexa group allows you to set brightness levels, thank you Scott. It's an ugly effect, as it just switches the brightness for each lamp one at a time.

Good evening, I'm really enjoying the Alexa integration. I have a scene containing all LampLincs, the problem is that while I can say "Alexa dim bedroom" (A Scene) and that works and I can say "Alexa set night stand to 50%" (A device) and that works. Trying to set a scene to a number doesn't. Alexa acknowledges the command, but nothing happens. I don't see any events coming through in the event viewer for the scene when trying to dim. Is this a bug, or not supported? Best regards, Todd
