    EZIO8T in scenes?

sperok The EZIO8T that arrived today works perfectly with Scenes. Have a Scene with output 4 as a Responder. Sending a Scene On with the Admin Console turns On output 4 on the new unit. The old EZIO8T turned on output 1 and 2 with the same Scene. I suggest sending the EZIO8T to Simplehomenet for a firmware refresh. That can be ordered online through the SHN web site. The latest EZIO8T firmware level is v.28. The firmware level cannot be seen with the ISY. If you have a spare PLM and an XP system the free Simplehomenet Utility Suite can be used to display the firmware level of the EZIO8T you have now. You can also use the one you have now using only Direct commands rather than Scenes. Lee
  2. Michel Thanks for the confirmation. I've assumed the situations were related. I only try to do something when I have failed to notice the empty Current State column. Normally when the Admin Console comes up with no state info I simply Exit the Admin Console and start over. It is not a common occurrance so I tend to forget the possibility. Only when something else does not work as expected I look at the state column and find it blank. I can go days, weeks some time and not see the state column blank. Lee

    unstable 99i

joefly There are various posts on the forum by UDI folks urging not to factory reset the ISY as that action is rarely useful in solving a problem. Also the user guide says about the same thing. From the user guide .... "In most cases, a factory reset will not help any problems you might be having. Please be sure to thoroughly investigate your problem before trying a factory reset." Factory resetting an Insteon device has become one of the first things done when a device problem is encountered. Clears unwanted configuration and gets the device back to a known state. Resetting the ISY is not like resetting other Insteon devices. It should be done only after discussing the problem with UDI folks (IMO).. Lee
  4. Michel I see the same error popup if I try to do things with the Admin Console when there is no Current Stste information showing. On my end it has nothing to do with an SHN device. I did a Show Device Links Table on some Smarthome device before I noticed the Current State column was totally blank. The Show Device Links Table did not display anything even though I knew the device had active link records. That was actually expected after seeing the Current State column blank. I'll also screen capture the next time it happens. I normally make it a point to look at the Current State column and just restart the Admin Console when the column is blank. The popup is as described. There is a top and bottom message display with a line across the middle of the popup. Both messages say something about unknown or invalid UUID. Lee

DO NOT FACTORY RESET without first having a discuesion with UDI personel.
  6. mink I don't think that would cause a problem, particularly when it is an execption situation. There id always a potential conflict between async traffic from automation and human interaction with a button/paddle. I was thinking flashing On/Off at 1-2 second rate. The beauty of all this is if it turns out to be a problem in the real world the timing is easy to change with the ISY. Lee
  7. mink The If Control is switched On can be Anded with If Control is switched Off to pick up either command. Putting the KPL button into non-toggle mode is another option. Flashing a KPL button is okay for a few seconds. I do not recommend that for an extended period of time. The constant powerline traffic to turn the KPL button On and Off could interfere with other Insteon traffic. Lee
  8. Panda88 There are conflicting results. The Green LED on the InLineLinc should track the state of the flood lights if the motion head is working correctly and the InLineLinc is driving the flood lights. In an earlier post the Green LED was reported to flash only. Can you confirm the motion head sense line is connected to the InLineLinc Sense line only (not also to the flood lights themselves) and that the flood lights turn On an stay On even though the Green LED only flashes. Lee
  9. Panda88 The motion head that comes with that kit should be okay. It is not the dual bright model that uses electronics to control the bright level of the flood lights in a standalone configuration. Since it did not work with the original InLineLinc that came with the kit it sounds like the motion head is not working correctly. Smarthome would have replaced it but after breaking the kit into parts I doubt they will now. I use COOPER Lighting motion heads with the InLineLincs. The ones I have use a relay to control the flood lights and now the Sense line. All the home improvement chains carry a basic motion head that uses a relay to turn on the flood lights or Sensor line in the case of the InLineLinc. They have mockups in some of the stores. Look for one that clicks (relay energizing) when motion is sensed. There are a number of entries on the Smarthome forum that discuss this situation. Some have had success using a small light bulb in parallel with the Sense line. Others have used a resister rather than a light bulb. I've not tried either approach. I use simple relay based motion heads which work fine here. Lee

    EZIO8T in scenes?

sperok A v.92 must be the PLM level. I don't think the EZIO8T firmware is that high. Can you run a Show Device Links Table for the EZIO8T and post the result. The On Level and Ramp Rate fields should be 00 00 and the Unit number should be a number which runs 0-7 for relays 1-8. This is a Scene link record for relay 4 in an EZIO4O. 0FF8 : A2 41 12.9F.E4 00 00 03 Lee EDIT: I confirm what you are seeing using my very old EZIO8T. It is treating the LD3 value as a bit map rather than relay number origined at 0. I have ordered a new EZIO8T to see what it does and have opened a communication with SHN about the EZIO8T behavior.
  11. sperok That should work. Variables are not saved across a power cycle so power interruptions will disrupt the count. My pulse water meter generates one pulse per gallon. High flow meters can be once per 10 gallons. Lee
  12. Panda88 What type of motion head is connected to the sense line? Not all motion heads work with the InLineLinc. Those with electronic controls for the load do not move the sense line from 120V to GND as required. Motion heads that have dual bright logic for example from heath zenith. Lee
  13. For now unplug the dongle (adaptor) for 1 minute when the motion sensors stop working. There is a working theory that the dongle is broadcasting something on RF, either message or simply a carrier, that is blocking the RF transmissions of other RF devices such as motion sensors. Smarthome/Smartlabs is testing a new version of the dongle. No estimate on when that will be available to the general public or how the existing adaptors will be replaced. This is only one possibility causing the motion sensors from working but unplugging the adaptor(s) will resolve the problem if caused by the adaptor.
  14. When the problem comes back, does the Event Viewer trace with Device Communications Events show Insteon activity when the motion sensor blinks its Red LED (have to wait for a timeout value to elapse as the motion sensor will not send On commands while in the timeout interval even thought the Red LED blinks). There is no timeout interval when operating in Occupancy mode. Issues with the Venstar adaptor can prevent RF traffic from reaching the ISY. Not disagreeing with the crazy conclusion or any of the rest, it may even help relieve the frustration with the situation but it does not contribute to finding the solution.
  15. The Save Changes button was not used after deleting the Program. That is why it came back after a restart. Crazy things, error messages, stops working, not enough information to even offer a guess.
  16. Panda88 Yes, the InLineLinc would be identified in the If statement If Control inlineline-name is switched on would be one example. Some items to confirm.,, When the sense line is controlled by the motion head does the Green LED on the InLineLinc turn On/Off as the sense line changes state? If yes, With Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Device Communications Events selected are Insteon messages traced as the InLineLInc Green LED turns On/Off with the sense line changes? When running the Admin Console make sure that the Current State column shows device status On/Off. If this column is blank for all devices end and restart the Admin Console. Lee
  17. Panda88 A single Red entry is correct. The InLineLinc node can be assigned as a Controller of an ISY Scene with other devices as Responders. This will cause the InLineLinc to turn ON/OFF the Responders as the InLineLinc is turned ON/OFF by the sense line. Lee
  18. kurelgyer One more item. If the Momentary mode being used responds to Relay On and Off commands based on door Open/Closed, a Scene is needed to control the IO Linc Relay. The IO Linc Relay responds differently when Scene commands versus Direct commands are used. Lee
  19. kurelgyer The IO Linc Relay should be operating in Momentary mode for a garage door application. This simulates the pressing of the door opener button. As such the status of the Relay node is not something useful to check. It generally shows On all the time because the On command turned it On to operate the door. The IO Linc does not send a message when it turns the Relay Off due to the Momentary mode timeout. The Sensor node should indicate whether the door is open or closed. It can be used as an And condition along with the time to determine if the Relay should be activated to close the door. Lee
  20. Panda88 An ISY Scene can be created, the InLineLinc w/sense assigned to the Scene as a Controller, other devices to be turned On/Off assigned to the Scene as Responders. Also a Program can be triggered by an On command from the InLineLinc w/sense and have the Program turn On other devices. Is the InLineLinc w/sense node in the My Lighting tree blue or red? There was a case a few days ago where the InLineLinc w/sense had been added to the ISY by specifying the Device Type and the InLineLinc without sense Device Type had been chosen. The InLineLinc without sense is a Responder only which cannot be used as a Controller. That would explain why no event is seen. Lee
  21. andyf0 If Control is testing for a particular command received from a device. If Status is testing for the state of the device. If Control devicea is On And Control deviceb is On makes no sense as there cannot be two commands received at the same time. If Status devicea is On And Status deviceb is On is True when devicea and deviceb are On at the same time. It will trigger a Program Then when the Status of either changes to On and the other device is already On. A motion sensor operating in On Only mode could not trigger a Program with a Status On as the Sensor node is always On (Off command not sent by motion sensor). A Program triggered with Control On will trigger each time the On command is received . If the On paddle is pressed multiple times the Program with Control On will trigger on each On command. A Program triggered with Status On will trigger only once as multiple On commands change the Status to On only once. A Responder only device does not send commands so Control is not applicable. Some devices such as a ControLinc have no Current State (Status) information after a reboot until a button is pressed. The ControLinc has no Responder function so it has no state information to retrieve with a Query. There is no simple rule that I know of. Control and Status are checking for different situations. Which is used depends on what the Program is trying to accomplish, what it is looking for. When a particular command is sent or a particular status exists. For Low Bat either a Control On or Status On should work. I feel certain this subject will generate lots of ideas and opinions. Lee
  22. hart2hart To have a Program triggered by a KeypadLinc button press add an If Control keypadlinc-button is ON And Control keypadlinc-button is not OFF The On button press runs the Then, the Off button press runs the Else Turning the KPL LED On/Off with a Program does not generate a button Control event so no loop issue. Lee
  23. hart2hart Yes, that is the method. If you select an IRLinc TX node there are not buttons at the bottom of the Admin Screen to issue Insteon Direct commands. The IRLinc TX responds to Scene commands. When an Insteon Controller is linked to the IRLinc TX, such as a KeypadLinc button, the KPL button only sends Scene (Group) commands. Lee
  24. hart2hart The Backlight sets the KeypadLinc backlight LED level. It does not set the button LED ON/OFF. To turn a KeypadLinc Secondary button LED On/Off define an ISY Scene and assign a KeypadLinc Secondary button as a Responder to the Scene. In the Program Set Insteon "scene name" ON or OFF to turn the KeypadLinc Secondary button ON or OFF. Lee
  25. mikeiud The ISY Scene should have the SwitchLinc and the KeypadLinc button as Controllers of the Scene. This definition will result in the devices being cross-linked and both will reflect status. Sounds like one of the devices was added as a Controller and the other added as a Responder. When a device is a Controller of a Scene it is assumed to also be a Responder if the device has responder capability. Lee
