Yes - those are potential causes, I have replaced them all recently -after ten years or so they start to beep incessantly because the need to be replaced. This is something it took me a long time and a lot of puzzled troubleshooting to finally discover!

Thanks - does that one protect incoming cable and phone? I was looking at this one for that reason: https://www.amazon.com/gp/cart/view.html/135-6047214-3703016?ie=UTF8&ref_=nav_crt_ewc_hd

I found a couple mentions here amd there about this topic, but wanted to ask the whole group. The primary reason I’m asking doesn’t have anything to do with home automation but I know this group is very good when it comes to this sort of stuff.I have smoke detectors that start to beep during lightning storms. I think it’s a result of stray voltage during the storms and I’m hoping the surge protector will be able to help that. So what type of surge protectors do you have in your homes? Ideally I would get one that protects not only the incoming electrical lines but also the broadband cable connection as well. Thanks.

Wow! I just came here to try and explain what was happening (scene would go to dimmed setting from web interface, but not remote) and then I re-read this - totally solved the problem I had. Thanks very much!
-
How do I set the level at the scene? If I am in the scene and change the level, they change real time, but I am not seeing the change when I use the remote to activate it. Do the lights in your 'bar' scene have different levels of 'on' (not all 100%)? If so, how do you do that in the scene?
-
Thanks very much, I’ll give it a shot!
-
Thanks - I didn't realize you can set the dimming level of the lights at the scene level.
-
Right now, I just want to push a button and have some lights dim to a preset level and some turn off to watch tv . Also, at some point, say to the Echo, "Alexa, run watch TV" - and have the same thing happen.
-
I would like to set several different lights to different levels of dimming or off with the press of the remote button. Remote is “Insteon mini remote 8 scene” I really have two questions. What is the best way to do this regardless of how it is activated (set the levels where I want)? Can I activate it (the program?) using the remote? Thanks!

I’ve been around for a while and while messing around with IFTTT, Echo, google home, android tv, IR, etc. things have gotten downright messy. Now that I know (a little more) what I am doing, I’m thinking of starting over from scratch. I am a isy portal subscriber, but that’s it on the isy side. As far as resetting the whole shebang, do to need to do anything special other than delete all my stuff from the echo and google apps and reset the isy? thanks

Thank you. I have the same errors only going back a month as well as the "System -100 [DHCP] state=RENEW" errors that are current as of today. I was playing around in the portal and i decided to look at my error log and i was surprised to see that it was more than 1000 pages long and that only went back to June of 2018. I removed a couple of switches from a four gang box and now I need a plate that has a two paddle, 2 blank configuration. I have spent more time looking for this than I did wiring in my switches. I only found one and it was like $20 and metal. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
-
Hey Paul, What a great answer. Thanks so much. Curiously, the first part you mentioned is something I have struggled with. I have several "standard" three way and one 4 way setup that utilize dimmers on all touch points. Is there a best practice to install these to prevent the situation you describe? They all work, but if I can do something to lessen the wear, I'd like to do that. I don't understand what the switchlincs do - at the moment, I only have dimmers and on/offs in my lights switch setups.
-
I am looking to relieve some space constraints in my 4-gang boxes with Insteon switches (they get pretty packed). Am I right in assuming that the keypad can work as a (physical) load controller for one switch and then a remote control for any other switch in the system via the ISY? Is there anything I need to take into consideration other than the line and load placement for the switch circuits? For example (hypothetical, it probably isn't this way), if I have a two-load switches and two non-load switches in my box, can I use the keypad as one load switch, an Insteon standard switch for another, and then tie the other two through (eliminating the switches), and use the keypad to control them remotely through the ISY? Thanks!
-
sorry - completely whiffed. carry on
-
I just logged in for the first time in a long time (a testament to the stability of the ISY!) and saw the dashboard for the first time - is that new? Looks very nice. I have one comment - at first I could't find out how to update the firmware, even though it was flashing that a new firmware was available. I thought I had to open up the console in order to do that since i didn't see anything in any of the menus. I went to click on what I thought was an "X" to switch, but then realized it was a wrench. My suggestion is to either make that as gear icon or make the wrench icon a little more obvious. Not anywhere near a big deal, but just a simple suggestion. Thanks.

kind of late, but i wanted to say thanks - for some reason I did't have the notifications turned on for this. I will give it a try!

Hi- i would like to incorporate turning my TV on and off into a vacation program. The Sony TV has Google TV and I can control on/off with the Echo. “Alexa, turn the TV off.” Is there any way to control the TV with the ISY either directly to Google TV or via the Echo?
-
Is there a list of door locks that work with the ISY-994i? I've seen a couple threads with the Schlage BE469 mentioned, but not many others. Thanks!

Hi - I want to make a scene that controls all of my interior lights. Aside from ease of adding them, is there a preferred way to set this up? I have scenes like Kitchen Lights - that control two or three different scenes. I have lights that are not in scenes, etc. Should I add all the individual devices to something like this, or a combination of scenes and devices? Does it matter? Do I ned to make sure that I push a control event only once? Thanks, -J
-
I think that was it. is there a way to take the MS out of linking mode or do i just have to wait?
-
When it is writing the icons next to the sensor it says, "writing". No, that is the confusing part - the sensors are not in any scene at the moment. Here is a video of the screen - you can't see the progress bar or the selection of the scene, but that is happening in another window that wasn't captured. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B95KWFwp3JXiMW5KcGZ0RnlKQkE/view?usp=sharing.

I added an insteon motion sensor a few days ago and now when I make any changes (adding a different device to a scene) the controller acts like it is writing to that sensor - none of the changes i am making are related to it at all. It takes 2-3 times longer to run through all of the progress bars. It takes about two full minutes to add a switch to an existing scene with two other switches. Any ideas?
