I added an insteon motion sensor a few days ago and now when I make any changes (adding a different device to a scene) the controller acts like it is writing to that sensor - none of the changes i am making are related to it at all. It takes 2-3 times longer to run through all of the progress bars. It takes about two full minutes to add a switch to an existing scene with two other switches. Any ideas?

Is this in lieu of mobilinc connect or in addition to it?

Got it to work - it never says in the instructions what to use for the "Settings/Groups" in order to point it to the custom notification. That's where i was confused.

Thanks -I am using a state variable. I read the info, and am probably going about it all wrong. I have the custom notification ready to go, I just do not know what to use in the program to trigger its use. Edit - I am trying to use the internal logging, not the ISYlogger. I think that is where the disconnect is. My apologies, I should have been clearer.

i am working on this and can't figure out how to monitor the variable to trigger the update. Is there a way to monitor the variable and write to file when it changes?

If someone read that part and had no idea where to start, where should he go to learn more?

I looked at the log and it doesn't appear to be there. I know I can open up the event viewer and let that run (not sure if PC needs to be 'awake' for that to keep recording). Is there any place that keeps a history of variable changes, or takes a snapshot over a period of time? I'd like to see when my variable is changing. Thanks.

I could send an email to myself with a certain subject and that could send me a text from gmail. that's a lot of triggers, etc. That is embarrassingly simple...i think i just might do that.

I just set up an IFTTT using the my chamberlain emails as a trigger, a state variable and a program to to get notifications after 11PM if the door is still open (it also flashes the upstairs landing light ). To add the ability to actually shut the door would be great.

I have an alert set up to send me a text message if my garage door is open after 10pm. It is sent to XXXXXXXXXX@vtxt.com (i think that's right - verizon) and works great. Except, I want to tell my phone to let these go through if my do not disturb is on. To do that, normally all i have to do is add the number (or contact) to my 'favorites' and tell DND to allow calls and texts from Favorites through even when DND is on. So i created a contact from the email address (alerts@universal-devices.com), but since there is no phone number, it wants to connect it to facetime. i tried that, but it still blocks the texts when DND is on. Ideas?

another question. I did a ton of switches today and they all work except one - but before I take it apart (because it was an absolute bitch to get everything back in there (4 gang box, 4 3-way switches...). IS there anything I should try on the switches or the controller first? I did delete the switches form the isy and the scene. Neither switch will turn off the light.

Yep - already did that today. I hate removing stuff - there isn't a lot of room and once it gets set, I am not sure I want to try and cram it all back in there! I am up to 14 switches, though.

Because I ordered the switches on super sale.

Interest here as well - however, I have ZERO idea what i am doing outside of the ISY. Looking for a reason to use my raspberry pi, though!

So, how would one go about making of the most of the two methods of control?

So i read that the network module comes with the isy portal, so i bought the portal. I have that showing up on my admin console under portal (portal integration, online, registered and activer services, myname, registered). FW fand UI are both v4.4.3 The instructional for the ECHO ( then says to make sure security is correct and points to: http://www.universal-devices.com/docs/production/ISY994%20Series%20Network%20Security%20Guide.pdf which has photos of a UI that I do not recognize. More importantly, I do not have the networking options shown in the networking security guide. I am guessing that is because i do not have the networking module activated/installed. So I look up "network module" and at the top of that page it says, "Now included with ISY Portal - Requires firmware and UI versions 4.4.3+" which sends me back to the Echo/IFTTT page from earlier. tl;dr: bought portal, can't find network module. help.

Thanks so much. I have been wanting to learn how to code and script, but have always lost focus becasue i didn't have a "project" to work on, well, this hobby is certainly providing that.
