  1. Mark, I have 1 Echo and 2 Dots. Right now all 3 area under the same Amazon Prime account (so all 3 can pay Amazon Prime music), and all 3 are under the same Portal account. The only time you would need different Amazon accounts is if you have household members, who would like to use their own calendar shipping and to do lists etc. This is not related to the number of Echo and Dots you have, you could switch the accounts in one device or on many.. The only time you'll need different Portal accounts is when you want each echo/dot device to have separate sets of spokens and/or devices/scenes/programs controlled. For example you have one Dot in Bedroom and one in your Office. And instead of "turn on bedroom light" or "turn on office fan" in each room you can just say "turn on lights".. Cheers, Alex
  2. I use my 2 Dots all the time and haven't once heard what your described.. Cheers, Alex
  3. So with one you find better "turn on blah blah" or turn blah blah on"? Cheers, Alex
  4. Ignores audio (likely now reserved word) and then got are left with 2 "light" devices.. Try to trick it with "audiolight" (single word) but if it's doesn't work then rename it to something else.. Cheers, Alex
  5. Home Assistant is an open source software, it could work with different hubs including IST. It's strange tho to compare pure software package with hardware device in that poll category.. Cheers, Alex
  6. Why, survey is anonymous and could help ISY popularity.. Cheers, Alex
  7. This is cool! One step closer too what's needed - Push Notifications. You know Alexa to announce important things from the ISY without a prompt.. Cheers, Alex
  8. You are not getting it No pads, No phones, No Destop Versions on mobile browser! MUST be on a Destop Chrome. Then that link will open directly the installation of tge extension... Extensions are only available for DESKTOP CHROME. Doesn't help if you switch to Desktop version of the page - you are still doing it on Chrome Mobile.. Cheers, Alex
  9. This is a link tonchrome extension that you must open in your Chrome browser on your PC. It seams ro me you are trying to open the link on your phone (that's why it tells you to send your seld a reminder)... Cheers, Alex
  10. Phone? You are doing this with your phone? This is for Desktop Cheers, Alex
  11. All this is explained in the post. It explicitly says to NOT EVER change the label! What are you changing the time zone from and to? Originally there is :null, it becomes :"Your/Timezone" (note quotes). Also you make the changes on exact order posted and every time you work on the SAME request - you don't close it after each Send. Postal codes are entered with the space. Cheers, Alex
  12. Here is the link for it:https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjfx9GKttrOAhVO6mMKHTjyADsQFggbMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fchrome.google.com%2Fwebstore%2Fdetail%2Frequest-maker%2Fkajfghlhfkcocafkcjlajldicbikpgnp%3Fhl%3Den&usg=AFQjCNHFsGMNkjbYY38JMMnvNwmIEpuhVA&sig2=jbY07Zdr2LE6oco9YZRiFA Cheers, Alex
  13. No no no it's a Chrome plugin, find/installed it through Chrome settings.. Also the whole thing only works if you follow my instructions to the T. Loose approximation don't work and could be "dangerous" Cheers, Alex
  14. Request maker is a plugin for Chrome. You can ONLY do that with Chrome... Cheers, Alex
  15. Huh what, I don't think push notifications are reality yet.. I for one can't wait for it! Cheers, Alex
  16. EXACTLY Cheers, Alex
  17. Here is the deal - I well one you to hack my echo and "TAKE" my bacon apologize for my autocorrect's stupidity And your partner in crime is right - from opening my car door with Echo device to Boeing's autopilot there is a huge leap.. At the end of the day there is a clear reason why Boeing invested billions in the autopilot technology - to potentially save lives of the pilots become incapacitated in any way! Yet hackers haven't stole plains.. So the potential benefits even here (in your off topic example) warrantied the tech implementation. Back to the OP - it is VERY exciting announcement, and positive news for the adoption of the Echo technology. And even it was NOT about self driving cars I am looking forward to day (10 years maybe) where the cars from "I, Robot" are reality - much safer traffic, no stupid drivers, just safe technology to save lives and make our future more convenient Cheers, Alex
  18. You are changing your point - in your post I responded to - you were 100% against the technology, now you CORRECTLY conclude it's the human factor that is in fault! This must not stop the technology to evolve and become better with every step! You always concentrate on the small negative (or often just the potential for it) and ignore the greater benefits! From the huge a mouth of automation you are using your self is evident you enjoy technology progress you just don't want to be a pioneer in its creation.. Absolutely fine - live it to more bold and brave people to help the technological advances - it will happen just fine without your pessimism! Cheers, Alex
  19. To all Profits of DOOM here.. Echo is not SkyNet There ZERO issue with opening you car doors or starting it remotely! I lived in a very cold place for year and a half called Saskatchewan.. In the winter the only way to get in your car and drive is to use remote starter. This are THOUSAND times easier to hack, yet that has never been serious problem in the global sense.. The necessity and convenience GREATLY outweigh the tiny potential risk that anyone would use this to steel your car! Again car thieves have much easier ways to that then to hack tech. I see No Problem what so ever to be able to lift my hand and speak to my CoWatch "Alexa open my car" as I approach it.. And as for my door lock, even tho Taken feels that is OK to call people stupid left and right, Alex do lock my door! This ONLY enhances my security PERIOD! my "GO to Bed" program i trigger by Alexa when go to bed ensures lights are off, doors are locked, things are secured. I haven't enabled Alexa to unlock my door yet only because I haven't felt the need to.. But even that can be done secure if you do it smart and be creative with the commands. All wireless HA protocols like Z-Wave, EcoBee, etc. are hackable - if someone wants to do it they don't need Echo. And AGAIN - MOST home burglars are not that tech savvy nor bother to invest in such high tech hacking to get into your house. The high tech hackers will go for big targets, not my condo. I think it is way more possible for you to forget to lock your door (car or house) then to encounter high-tech hacker to try snuffing and hacking your Echo communication. In which case - you still have your alarm system to protect you (in case you forgot to lock your door or high-tech hacker unlocked it).. Cheers, Alex
  20. Or just break the window.. Either way car thieves have currently more accessible to them ways to break in one's car to try to hack into the encrypted communication between an echo device and a car. It is not impossible but not easy at all, especially for common car thieves for whom ROI won't be worth it! Cheers, Alex
  21. You "just can't wait someone to die".. Nice going Taken.. There thousands of people using autopilot in their cars and it's OFFENSIVE and Ignorant to call them STUPID! There are million more car cases related to bad drivers, NOT to the technology. All this being said - WE need to appreciate that every "revolution" in technology has to start somewhere, at some point, and I for one would call this early adopters PIONEERS, NOT STUPID! Cheers, Alex
  22. I have it all working now using request maker I even got it to change the weather to my local area (my own post code) and its spot on. I can also now find nearby information such as takeaway, hospitals etc. Install request maker in Chrome. Log onto Alexa on my PC http://alexa.amazon.com/ Go to settings. Change address to an American address. Then save. On the top/right - select the envelope and looked for the XHR PUT pitangui.amazin.com/api/… Then use request maker to edit raw text as follows: Important: DO NOT change the label value at any point! Firstly, set your timeZoneId (e.g. America/Toronto), leave everything else as is and hit “Send”. Then, add the following to your request (keep the timeZoneId changed, each step builds on the last): 1. Set the city value to your city/suburb (e.g. Toronto) 2. Set countryCode (e.g. CA) 3. Set county (e.g. Toronto) 4. Set district (most likely — null) 5. Set houseNumber (e.g. 54) 6. Press “Send” to send those values Then, once those have been sent, add changes to the following in the same way: 1. Set the first postalCode (e.g. M5K 6G4) 2. Set state (e.g. ON) 3. Set street (e.g. Grand Lake) 4. Press “Send” to send those values Lastly: 1. Update the second postalCode (e.g. M5K 6G4) 2. Press “Send” to send that value. The Label will update itself based on your input above. Weather and asking for nearby restaurants all work. Asking for my location also gives me the correct information. So long as you get 200 OK it will be successful. [emoji1]
  23. Interesting approach! Alexa controls the device directly, then a program triggers the proper scene based on the device status.. Cheers, Alex
  24. Have you tried spoken "fan on high" so "Alexa turn on fan on high" would work? Cheers, Alex
