@paulbates @Techman Thanks for the inputs. I will probably integrate the second MS1 into the existing scene. I will experiment with your suggestion of a program for the OFF while the MS1's would transmit the ON signal. I did see the ON Only selection in the Options setup. Of source, I really have not been having any problems with battery life with the MS1. In fact, I have a series of programs monitoring the battery life in all my MS1's. It sends me a text when the battery is low. I will probably setup the new configuration probably after the predicted storms this weekend since I need to take down the existing sensor in order to press that magic button in the battery case on both MS1's. I have one of the first MS2 sensors. When I installed it the ISY firmware had not been updated for the MS2. So, it is actually defined as a MS1 in my network. Battery life is similar to 9V in the MS1. This is in a hallway that gets quite a bit of traffic. Timer is set for 30 seconds. All of this is in the MS setup and scene. No program. I have another MS2 in a similar hallway. It was installed after the ISY firmware update so it is defined as a true MS2. Lot more options available in its definition. I tried the ON Only suggestion from above. I never saw an OFF status reported. Not sure if there were some additional options that needed to be set. I then set it to report ON and OFF. That appeared to work, but that is what I originally had in the setup with the scene and not long battery life. I wrote a simple program: If {motion sensor} Status in ON Then SET {light scene - since it is a 2-way configuration} To ON Wait 30 seconds SET (light scene} to OFF Looks simple. However, the OFF never occurs. Not sure what I did wrong. I am currently running with eisy with 5.8.x firmware and IoTx.

I have a rather large driveway and parking area outside my garage. I currently have a single Motion Sensor (MS 1) controller the driveway floodlights. The detection pattern does not cover the entire driveway/parking area, so I was thinking about adding another Motion Sensor (MS 1) in order to increase detection coverage area. Can I add another Motion Sensor to the Scene essentially in an OR condition to manage the lights or will I need to create a program with the OR condition as part of the IF statement? For my outdoor applications and where there might be lots of detection traffic, I prefer the MS 1 over the MS 2 because of the battery longevity. The 9V in the MS 1 will usually give be about 9 months of power while the 123 battery in the MS 2 might give me 2-4 weeks of power. I really do not enjoy climbing up on the ladder once a month to change the batteries. Thanks for your inputs.

Not sure I am really in the right forum or topic chain. I converted to to an eisy when my 994 decided to go on a permanent vacation. Installation was smooth and I am not having any problems with it. My installation is Insteon devices and I am very appreciative of the new Insteon company getting the supply chain back in smooth operation. My question revolves around dimmable LEDs. A few months ago, I purchased some Ecosmart dimmable LEDs that are the classic clear glass bulb style where you can see the "filament." They are a really beautiful. I have 2 installations of the bulbs. One is associated with a 2477D Insteon switch while the other is associated with a standard on-off switch (I just received a new 2477D - I was waiting on the color change kits - not installed yet). After initial installation everything worked as expected. The bulbs attached to the Insteon switch ramped up and down according to the programming for the switch in the eisy. The one attached to the standard switch also operated as expected. Now, let's fast forward a couple of months. The bulbs are now acting like something else is controlling them. The bulbs on the standard switch now ramp up at about a 10 second rate when switched on and instantly go off when switched off. The bulbs associated with the Insteon switch act very similarly. They do not ramp up according to the eisy profile. They do ramp down correctly. When I perform a FAST ON through UD Mobile or Admin Console, they ramp up at about a 10 second rate. A FAST OFF functions correctly. Changing ramp rate in the eisy has not affect other than ramp down. So far, it appears to be only these bulbs that act as though they have their own minds. Really do want to purchase new bulbs. Thoughts?

@DennisCI deleted the one file I mentioned above plus I updated the Java Security setting as suggested by your link above. So far everything is now good. Admin Console (I guess we now call it IoX) opened as expected. Thanks.

Apologies for taking so long to reply. First, I am on a Windows 11 (PC) device. Second, only the "ud_finder.state" file is in the directory you mentioned above. None of the other files exist. Only one (1) dot State file is in the directory.

I upgraded to the EISY (from ISY) a few months ago with no apparent problems. It has been performing as expected. I also installed UD Mobile on my Android phone. It has also been performing as expected. Give everyone 10 Gold Stars. I have been making sue I keep up with the firmware updates followed by the System Reboot. I really do like the Reboot reminder that is given when you log back onto the Admin Console. I recently updated to version 5.6.2. Everything went as expected followed by the reboot reminder and the subsequent "reinstall" of start.jnlp. I typically perform a backup after these updates which I did after starting the Admin Console again. Fast forward about a week to today. I attempted to activate the Admin Console on my PC. I get the UD splash, but the Finder Window never appears. Everything appears to be working correctly. Programs and Schedules run. I can access everything through UD Mobile. Just cannot access via the Admin Console on the PC. I even performed the Clear Java Cache and "reinstalled" start.jnlp. Nothing. Any hints on what I am doing wrong since everything appeared to work correctly right after the firmware update. Thanks

I am new to PG3(x) since I upgraded to an eisy from an ISY that decided to die. I am just curious why I should be interested in the features of PG3(x). I looked at several of the Node Servers that are available. Many of them are related to devices I have installed in my home (Ecobee thermostat, Rachio sprinkler controller, Ring security devices, SolarEdge inverter, ...). I currently access all these devices through the apps that are recommended to be installed during the installation process. So, I am just curious what these Node Servers provide beyond the app features. Please accept my apologies for what might appear to be a dumb question to many of you. Thank

Thanks @TechmanThat will helps lots. Then as @DennisCreminded me use the UPDATE PACKAGES button in the Admin Console to execute those updates. Button push is the backup approach. BTW - I always perform a backup whenever there is a firmware update. Thanks

@DennisCThanks for all your help. Update was successful. I am assuming the Multi-Function Button push will be the way to update firmware. I looked throughout the EISY Forum and could not find an official release notice for Version 5.5.9. Is there an official location for these types of announcements? Will I need to download a new version of start.jnlp every time there is an update or can I use the file I downloaded from this effort? I just need to remember to Remove Java Cache and applications after the update and reboot. Thanks again. Now, onto understanding and playing with PG3.

@DennisCMy device is a new eisy. It replaced an ISY that bought the farm about a month ago. The firmware version is 5.5.7. At least that is what it says when I bring up the ISY Portal or when I click on ABOUT in the Admin Console.

@dennisC I tried the UPGRADE PACKAGES button, but nothing appears to change. Maybe I am not seeing any change since I have not cleared the Cache. I will look at your other references then clear the cache. Maybe that is the key.

@TRI0NI have a real dumb question. Updating the Firmware. Is this now labeled UPGRADE BIOS under the Configuration Tab? Could not find any reference to firmware updates in the Wiki. Must not be looking in right place.

Every time I log onto the Admin Console, I receive a message telling me there are updates available and I need to select the UPGRADE PACKAGEs button under the Configuration tab. I have performed this task several times. Am I missing something or are there that frequent of updates that need to be applied? I know there are other buttons, such as REBOOT, UPDATE FIRMWARE, .... Should I be selecting a different button?

@larryllixprovided the most direct answer. You can also use the REFRESH button. It should find your ISY on your home network. Now, to fully answer your question from my experience. I updates my ISY firmware to 5.3.4. I then updated to the new Admin Console and Finder (IoX Finder). IoX Finder I am told is Firmware version agnostic. My problem was slightly bigger. After updating the firmware, I was able to install the new Finder and get the Admin Console working. I also saved the new Finder info. To make a long story short, my ISY decided to permanently retire and under no circumstances could the repair people change its mind. So, enter a new EISY. It is working great. In fact, I have a couple of questions I need to post of this forum.

@GeddyNo - I installed the IoX on the MAC at the same time I installed the new eisy. So, it did not know about the previous ISY994i. I was able to immediately see the eisy on the MAC after I completed all the tasks associated with the setup via UD Mobile. I installed the eisy in the same location as my ISY. I have a sort of large wiring closet where everything comes into the house and is distributed throughout the house. It is only a slight pain since it is on the 2nd floor. I first tried the wired connection to the LAN, but nothing was happening at least according to UD Mobile. I tried a couple of times. I would prefer the wired connection. More reliable. I will try the trick you suggested. I will probably wait a couple of days while I go through and exercise all the devices. So far everything is looking good. I might look into even having a keyboard, mouse, and monitor attached to it. Of course, that is a longer term goal. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for your quick reply. As I read more of the User Guide, I figured out it was User Error. I was trying to access using my laptop. At the time, my laptop had a VPN active. Once I turned off the VPN everything popped up like it was expected. Now, that does not explain why I could not access via my MAC which does not use a VPN. Oh well, that is an exercise for another day. A quick check of some of the devices and programs shows everything was successful. I made sure I performed a backup and a Save of the Finder info. Thank again to everyone who has helped me in this adventure.

OK. I have followed all the installation instructions in the eisy User Guide. I was successfully able to install using WiFi through the UD Mobile App. I was then able to activate the Admin Console via IoX Launcher. I was able to complete the configuration setup and change the Admin ID/Password to my account info. The next step to Restore ISY using my backup from my previous (yet now dead) ISY994i that was at 5.3.4. Based on earlier posts I was under the belief that this would take awhile. So after 24 hours, I tried to activate Admin Console, but all I receive is the proverbial hourglass symbol in the IoX Launcher. No eisy appears in the IoX Launcher. Not sure what my next course of action should be now.

Yes - eisy. I was just referring to the indicator that said the device would beep 4 times after performing the Update Packages selection. This was a response in the Admin console. As I mentioned, Id did not know if a set of beeps actually occurred. It is still Restoring from the backup. From other posts, I understand this might take awhile. So, just standing by.

@MrBill @Geddy @DennisC The install basically went OK. I first tried the wired approach since my original install was next to the router and network hubs. I could see it polling the network hub, but the UD Mobile app just kept spinning. So, I started over using the WiFi approach. It is sitting next to one of my Mesh Network nodes. All was good with that approach. I may need to move it nearer where my laptop/desktop resides since many of the Update/Reboot/.... commands use beeps to indicate completion. Oh well, that is for another day Now, onto the Restore ISY using my 5.3.4 backup. Hopefully, it is good since using the 5.0.16C backup did not work.

@DennisC That is interesting. I am looking at the back of my eisys right now. Going from left to right, the following ports are visible: USB, Headphone Jack, HDMI, small pin size hole for factory reset, another HDMI, Power, and Ethernet. Right above the Headphone Jack is a Micro SD card slot and it is labeled with the Micro SD card symbol. Still looking at the back as a reference point, on the right short side is what appears to be a locking port and there are 3 additional USB ports on the left short side. Power button is on the

@DennisC Thanks. I need to wait for the cable to be delivered so waiting a few more days will not hurt. I have gotten use to all the programs, especially the ones that monitor the motion sensors and turn on the lights in the garage and on the driveway. So, I will wait until I see a thumbs up on FW 5.5.5.

Just thought of one more question I forgot to put in the original post. There is a slot for a Micro SD card. Is it necessary to install a Micro SD card before I do the initial setup or is this something that can be added later? I know my original ISY994i had an 8G card installed from the factory. Thanks and apologies for throwing in a new question. Brain cells were all not in synch.

@DennisC Thanks. I did not find that Wiki article in my searching. That spells it out quite well. When you say don't upgrade right now, are you referring to upgrading the eisy FW or delaying overall installation of the eisys with all its steps (including restoring the PLM and backup)? Thanks for such a quick response. You must already be tired of the NFL Network coverage.

As few weeks ago my ISY994i decided it was time for a long nap. After sending it back to its parent, it was determine that repairs were not possible. So, an eisy order was placed. The unit has arrived, but I forgot about the new cabling even though I already was using the Serial PLM. I just did not read all the sentences while looking at the configuration of the eisys. The cabling will be arriving in the next couple of days. I was operating ISY994i at FW 5.0.16C successfully for several years with no problems. For some unexplained reason I decided to upgrade to FW 5.3.4. Prior to the upgrade I captured a backup under 5.0.16C. After the FW update, I captured a new backup. the configuration and programs did not change between backups. My system configuration is right now exclusively Insteon. I just read the about support for the new i3 devices. Hopefully, Insteon will send the specs. Based on an email to their support center they intend to do this. Unfortunately, I need to replace one of my outlets since a painter decided he needed to keep pushing the setup buttons which has rendered the device non-functional. All he needed to do was asked and I would have turned on the outlet. That is another story. I also was using ISY Portal. I just discovered UD Mobile. I did logon to UD Mobile. I did find my credentials for the old ISY994i. I was already using IoX for the Admin Console. I have looked at many of the posts concerning migrating to eisy. Everything seems to be straightforward (I think). Here are a few observations. Please correct me if I am wrong. I will probably use the wired configuration since that it what I was using before. 1. Use UD Mobile when setting up the eisy. 2. Make sure you register for the free ISY Portal license even if your license is currently active. 3. Make sure you select Insteon devices in the Configuration menu. Since I currently do not have any Z-Wave devices I can unselect Z-Wave. 4. Use either backup to restore my Network configuration. I was previous using a static IP address. I have read all the posts indicating this may not be the best approach, so I will need to make sure DHCP is selected in the Network Configuration menu. 5. Restore PLM. Maybe step 4 and 5 are switched. Not sure. 6. From some of the posts, it appears I may need to go to each device and restore it. Not sure about the battery related devices (e.g. Motion Sensor 1 and Motion Sensor II, 1 to 8 button switch). I also have some wired 8-button swtiches. 7. When I fire up IoX for the eisy, make sure I delete reference to the old ISY994i and Select Refresh to find the new eisy device. 8. All should be good. 9. Be patient since the network scan may take awhile. I know there is something I am missing. Any recommendations will be much appreciated.
