ISY Portal IP Address
Does the IP address associated with an ISY 944i that uses the ISY Portal periodically change? If so, How does one know when this change happens and how can this be communicated so one change access the ISY when not on the home network of the ISY. Today, I was trying to access my ISY when I was not at home. When I logged onto the ISY Portal, I discovered the IP address that was previously being used (even the day before) had changed. Once I updated the IP address in the app on my Android phone everything was good again. Just wondering if there was some automatic way to keep track of the update.

Access to ISY via Internet
Thanks for the update. I found the portal tab and completed the approval. Everything appears to be OK. The earlier post mentioned to use the URL found in the portal to access the ISY remotely. In the Portal window under the Tab you are described there is no URL. However, under About there is an Internet Access URL. Is that the one I should use?

Access to ISY via Internet
Is there any documentation I need to read? I did setup the account. It is now waiting for owner approval. Not sure who is the owner other than me.

Access to ISY via Internet
Nothing has changed with respect to the router. I have 2 ports setup in the router for this purpose and they are linked correctly in the ISY. This is why it is so confusing. Nothing has changed from a setup standpoint other than I obtained a new phone over the summer. Now, I do remember reading something about ISY Portal earlier in the year. I do not have the ISY portal setup right now. Maybe I need to go back to reread that email. That could be the solution.

Access to ISY via Internet
I may have missed something from other posts or announcements. I tend to access the forum when something "goes wrong." Up to now (relatively speaking), everything has been working find with my ISY944i. I have been able to use the Admin Console using my PC or access the ISY directly via its static IP address. Up until now, I have also been able to access the ISP via Simple Home Controller and Agave apps on my Android phone when I have been away from the home network. Sometime during the summer (maybe earlier - remember I ten to take things for granted when everything is working as expected) my access via the apps discontinued to work. Nothing has changed in my ISY configuration. I did finally upgrade my Android phone to a 5G capable device. For the past few months, I have been working with the developer of the Simple Home Controller app to troubleshoot the problem. Nothing has worked. I have a DNS through No-IP dot COM. The IP address that assigned through that service does see my router correctly. Yes - the ISY is plugged correctly into the home network. Not sure if I missed something in the forums that changed the way ISY is made accessible to the Internet. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Have fun today.

I would like to thank @Michel Kohanim and the rest of the UDI team for this latest firmware release. I know there are still some speed bumps that several people are still encountering, but I am convinced they will all be resolved soon. When I started using the ISY, I had several applications that required Motion Sensors. The first Motion Sensors I installed were MS I and they basically met all me expectations. I have several applications that require lights to be turned on at night, but not during the day. MS I fulfilled these needs. I also soon learned quite a bit about light sensitivity. When I needed more additional Motion Sensors, the MS II was now the available sensor on the market. I did try some refurbished MS I on the secondary market, but quality was not there. Unfortunately, MS II was not yet in the firmware so one was "forced" to install them as a MS I. They did sense motion, but the Day/Night feature was not functional. I wrote a program to not activate the lights during daylight hours, but the sensor was still working and draining the battery power. My battery budget went up a little since the manufacturer also decide a different battery type was necessary rather than the trusty 9V (which everyone usually have on hand due to smoke detectors). So, the new and latest firmware release solved that problem and is saving me money in the battery budget. I know there are other features of the MS II that the firmware recognizes and I am looking forward to using sometime in the future. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

@dbwarner5 - I noticed the additional nodes also. Since only the Siren tone worked, I tried adding the other nodes to a scene. No options for Duration, … like the first node. I am still unable to get anything other a 10 second Siren (which are the defaults) when motion is detected by the MS II.

Here is an additional update concerning my conversion from 4.7.3. to 5.0.16C \I have an installation of a MSII linked to an Insteon 2868-222 Siren/Chime. In Version 4.7.3, this link was manual. This manual link installation had a chime sound upon detected motion. Application was to know when dog was at back door. She does not bark. After installation of Version 5.0.16C and manual factory reset of the 2 affected devices, a scene was created so that Siren/Chime would again chime upon motion detected. The default for the Siren/Chime in the scene: Duration=10 seconds, Delay=Immediate, Tone=Siren. Following changes were attempted: Duration=1 second, Tone=Chime. After all the changes, the result was a 10 second Siren upon Motion Detected. Not sure if 5.0.16C has incorporated all the feature for the Siren/Chime.

Just a quick progress report. Everything appears to be functioning as expected. I reinstalled the Motion Sensor II devices that were controlling outdoor lights. I think I was successful in "programming" them for night mode also. When I stepped out onto the driveway in the dark the lights came on. The lights did not come on during daylight this morning. So, this is probably a success so far. When I reinstalled the Motion Sensor II I noticed there are quite a few more features. Are there any programming guides for the Motion Sensor II? I have quite a few ideas for programs given these new features. Thanks for the inputs in advance.

When I clicked on Synchronize Now (just to the right of the entry), I receive a NTP server DNS error. Any recommendations?

Apologies for my fat fingers. The NTP Pool Server is currently pool.ntp.org I accidently typed pool.ntrp.org into my previous response on this forum. There is one of those Red Information exclamation marks in front of the field.

Just completed the firmware updated from 4.7.3 to 5.0.16C. Upgrade went much better than anticipated based on my previous apprehensions. I have tried a few scenes such was mutli-way switch configurations and motion sensors turning on hallway lights. So far so good. Getting ready to updated Motion Sensor II's that are outdoors so I can let ambient light control the whether or not the sensor turns on the outdoor lights rather than having a program determine whether or not it is dark out (using sunset and sunrise parameters. Obviously, that test will come tonight. Have not looked at any programs yet. I did look at my configuration data just to make. I noticed a informational exclamation mark next to the NTP Pool Server entry. Currently pool.ntrp.org is in that entry. Should it be changed?

Thanks. The network topology listing is great. Exactly what I need.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I made a "text" copy of all my programs. Now, it there a way to make a similar copy of the entire network? This will make it much easier to know each of the device addresses (and names) if I need to remove and add the device as suggested by several other posts? Thanks again.

I have been following the Version 5.0.xx discussion for quite awhile. Currently, I am running V4.7.3. I have a little bit of apprehension based on several of the experiences. I have well over 100 devices in my network with multiple scenes and programs associated with these devices. Some of the devices are battery operated - Motion Sensor I, Motion Sensor 2, single button keypad, multiple button keypad. Right now, everything is working great except for the Motion Sensor II. they do not recognize light and dark so I have a program that turn exterior lights on/off when it is dark outside (based on sunset and sunrise) rather than using the internal logic of the motion sensor II. Unfortunately, in those installations I am going through lots of batteries since motion is always sensed. So, I have been looking forward to Version 5.0.xx for some time. Having said that I will probably be installing Version 5.0.xx this weekend unless someone convinces me otherwise. I will need to make sure I have a backup before I start. I will also need to establish a plan to update /verify each device. Currently, I have organized (into folders) by where the devices are located - room, garage, outdoors (with specific locations - front door, driveway, …) Now, do I update the admin console to the 5.0.xx console before or after I perform the firmware update? Any other recommendations or suggestions will be much appreciated. I have already downloaded the new firmware and admin console. I have also printed the instructions from the first notification in this discussion list. Thanks again.

I am assuming that Version 5.0.16 is still in Beta. I am currently using 4.7.3 and the system has not informed a new updated firmware is available. Patiently waiting. Really would like to use the Motion Sensor 2 to name just one feature I am looking forward to. Thanks.

Admin Console Not Working - Windows 10
Not sure if I posted in the right location. I have an ISY944i which appears to be working OK. I tried to fire up the ISY Launcher on my Windows 10 device. No response. I can access the ISY using the ISP address, but can not get the admin console to start. It appears to work on my Windows 7 device (which is a dog). It worked about a week ago. There have been a few Windows 10 updates

Reinstall ISY994i after ISP changed network
My local ISP has been upgrading service to all its customers. It required a new modem and router. Rather than having a router that had an address of 192.168.1.1 I now have a router with an address of 192.168.254.254. In order to use port forwarding with my ISY, I had a static address assigned to it. I have tried doing a factory reset (yes I have a recent backup) and follow the installation instructions, but I am unable to access the ISY. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Embedded IF-Then-Else in Programs
Thanks everyone. All the comments make a lot of sense. I will need to rewiring a few brain cells.

Embedded IF-Then-Else in Programs
Yes - yet another question during the installation process. Now, I am looking at building programs for the devices and I have encountered a situation where I need to use an embedded If-Then-Else For example: If <condition 1> and <condition 2> Then <perform action 1> Else If <condition 2> Then <perform action 2> Else <perform action 3> Not quite sure how to program then 2nd If statement as part of the 1st Else statement. Thanks in advance.

Email notifications
I am setting up a new ISY-994i. I am on the setup section pertaining to email notifications. In the dialog box, I enter the SMTP server name and port (in my case - smtp.gmail, com and 465). then I enter my gmail user name and password. When I try a test, I get a dialog box that says Mail Server Failure. Not sure what I am missing here.

Access to Internet / Access to ISY944i using cell phone
I am new to the ISY944i. I am slowing migrating from a Stargate controller using X10 protocol to a ISY944i controller using INSTEON protocol. What do I need to do to enable access to the ISY944i via one of my cell phones. I try to Enable Internet Access, but I keep getting a Failed message. I don't see anything obvious in the Configuration setup or instructions in the User's Guide. Do I need to install the ISY Portal module?
