Unable to connect to isy 994i

Last year, I set up an isy994i to control:

- front porch lighting

- sprinkler system

- garage door

In the winter time, I usually turn off the sprinklers. Its that time of year now so I went to restart my program for the sprinkler system. Unfortunately, I am unable to connect to the isy994 server.

I performed the following steps:

1. Using my mac, I went to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i. The browser showed a java applet was being downloaded and then the java app did pop up

2. I see the three tabs - main, programs and configurations. No other content shows up. (In past, I would be prompted for a user/password)

3. I cycled the 994 and the plm (unplugged and plugged back in). The 994 is showing one steady green light for power. The 994's ethernet port is blinking with two green leds (I assume this means it has network connectivity).

4. I went back to relaunch the java app. Again it launches but again just the three tabs are showing. No prompts for authentication.

5. Tried logging in using a browser from a windows laptop (firefox). Same thing, three tabs, no authentication prompt. I do get a message that says "XML Parse Error" and "Socket Open Failed java.net.SocketTimeoutException"

6. I went to http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp. A pop up window came up with a message: Not Found

How do I begin to debug?

Some system info:

- Generic comcast modem

- Apple Time Capsule router

- Cisco/Linksys network switch

- isy994i + insteon PLM

- Mac with Mountain Lion (Safari 6.0.2, Java 7 Update 21)

- Dell with Windows XP

So you're not just having trouble connecting to your sprinkler controller. Instead, you are having problems connecting to the Admin Console to access your sprinkler control?

Did you try clearing Java cache?

Hello adobo,

I am so very sorry to hear.

It seems that your MAC is not finding the ISY. So, the first order of business is to find ISY.

Two methods:

1. in terminal window, type:

arp -a

... look for any line with MAC address 00:21:b9; this is an ISY

2. If you have normal router (and not Airport), then you can find ISY by checking DHCP client list. ISY is identified by ISY994-EMS

If you have setup your ISY with a static IP address, then please use that address in your browser.

With kind regards,

Michel
