Controlling INSTEON Thermostats via ELK-M1KPNAV?

Hello.

I recently purchased the ISY994i/IR PRO and the Elk M1 Module.

I have successfully connected the ISY994i/IR PRO with a Venstar T1900 Thermostat / INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapter and am planning to add two more INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapters within the next several days.

I have also successfully connected the ISY994i/IR PRO with the my Elk M1's ELK-M1XEP Ethernet Adapter and have Elk M1 Control / Zone Status reporting of my Elk M1 via the ISY994i/IR PRO... plus, I exported my INSTEON devices from the ISY994i/IR PRO and imported them into the Elk RP2 Programming Software in the Automation / Lighting Section and uploaded into my Elk M1.

However, I am neither able to figure out how to obtain status or control the Venstar T1900 Thermostat / INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapter from any of my three Elk Navigator Touchscreen Keypads (ELK-M1KPNAV - http://www.elkproducts.com/product-cata ... een-keypad) nor via the web interface of the ELK-M1XEP Ethernet Adapter.

Could someone please let me know what is required to allow the Elk M1 to see Venstar T1900 Thermostat / INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapters as monitored / controllable resources so that they can be controlled via my Elk Navigator Touchscreen Keypads?

This would greatly help out with the WAF of additional Home Automation projects (and certainly this one as well)!

Thanks!

Brian

Hello Michel.

Yes, I purchased and installed the Elk M1 Module for my ISY994i/IR PRO prior to posting my initial message / question.

I also have successfully connected the ISY994i/IR PRO with a Venstar T1900 Thermostat / INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapter as well as successfully connected the ISY994i/IR PRO with the my Elk M1's ELK-M1XEP Ethernet Adapter and have full Elk M1 Control / Zone Status (input) reporting of my Elk M1 via the ISY994i/IR PRO to include lighting as well as output (relay controls) ... plus, I exported my INSTEON devices from the ISY994i/IR PRO and imported them into the Elk RP2 Programming Software in the Automation / Lighting Section and uploaded into my Elk M1.

However, I am still unable able to figure out how to obtain status or control of the Venstar T1900 Thermostat / INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapter from any of my three Elk Navigator Touchscreen Keypads (ELK-M1KPNAV) nor via the web interface of the ELK-M1XEP Ethernet Adapter.

Could you please let me know what is required to allow the Elk M1 to see Venstar T1900 Thermostat / INSTEON 2441V Thermostat Adapters as monitored / controllable resources so that they can be controlled via my Elk Navigator Touchscreen Keypads?

Thanks again!

Hi Brian,

Just spoke to Chris and basically we are not aware of any ELK APIs that support communicating with INSTEON thermostats. As a matter of fact, the export is imported into ELK's Lighting and devices are categorized as dimmer, switch, other. In short, this is not possible with current APIs from ELK.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hello Michel.

Thank you very much for your quick response and research into this matter.

If there's no API available for this type of function that certainly makes things a bit more challenging to interface!

I really do like the Elk Module for the ISY and used it to provide limited thermostat control (and text feedback) via various available ELK-M1KPNAV soft keys via use of some of the ISY's custom substitution variables (as referenced in one of the UDI wiki pages at: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... _Variables).

Thus, I have been able to gain some level of thermostat control via the ISY's Elk Module's interface to my ELK-M1KPNAV keypads.

Also, I eagerly look forward to looking into the Z-Wave module once it becomes available as a regular released product.

Thanks again for the incredible customer and technical support!

Sincerely,

Brian
