Lamplinc dead?

Hi guys;

I think I've had a lamplinc go down. but I wanted to be sure before I chucked it out.

I cant 'discover it' in the ISY GUI.

Is there a hard reset I can do before I order a new one?

Normal factory reset is to unplug for more than 30 seconds to allow power supply to drain off. Push and hold the Set button, then holding the Set button pressed plug in the device and hold the Set button pressed for 10 seconds. The device user guide will have the specific procedure but that is the usual process.

It discovers it sometimes but when I try to finish it says.

The following devices could not be added:

0e.a7.d5 (2456D3) Lamplinc v.33

_ Cannot communicate with device.

Thoughts?

Sounds more like a comm problem. Does it work any better when plugged into the same plug point as the PLM?

Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Add the LampLinc and post the event trace.

I think it worked this time but I had to switch to different outlets to find one that worked.

(I'm also noticing as I type this that it just said "Cant communicate with 0E.A7.D5

A few other communication drop outs with other insteon switches and KPLs i think too

I'll have to organize that.

Any help would be great.

It seems to work but the ISY GUI will pop up the "cant communicate with 0E.A7.D5" every few minutes.

When I query it, it will then have the green arrow beside it. (writing to device?) it doesnt go away.

The trace shows very bad comm. Hops Left=0 for many cases and the Hops Left=x count is changing. If that trace was taken with the device plugged into the PLM plug point the device looks defective. If plugged into a more distance location it looks like a typical comm problem at the plug point which could be interference or poor phase coupling.

I'll try it again with it plugged into the access point tonight after work.

I have another thread going trying to figure out comm issues with new LED lights

(probably aren't the cause but cant figure it out, maybe a bad lamplinc can cause all this?)

just as an aside, I'm having a hard time removing the lamp linc from the ISY

Its got a red exclamation mark beside it.

Same with the Kitchen Sink (cant query anything it seems)

Normally a Query will clear the Red ! comm error indication. Move the LampLinc to the PLM plug point and see if a Query works there.
