I am new to the ISY product.

I purchased an ISY994i and a PLM

In stand alone mode (no PLM attached) the ISY can be found and it tells me that it cant locate the PLM....Good!

If I connect the PLM and retry...I still get the message that the PLM can't be found (Power and RX LED are on)

If I reboot the ISY and PLM (with the PLM attached) the Power LED AND the Mem LED lights go on...RX LED goes off.....When I launch the software I get a message that the ISY can't be found..

Have worked with Tech support...They suggested I get a new PLM...So I did

Installed new PLM...same issues...

Please help...This is very frustrating

Not sure why activities were attempted without a PLM. Once the ISY was booted up without a PLM just connecting the PLM is not helpful. The PLM should be powered. Then boot the ISY. After the ISY has had an opportunity to complete the boot process…

What LEDs on the front panel are On before starting the Admin Console?

How many LEDs are On at the rear RJ45 jack connection to the router?

Does the router show an IP address has been assigned to the ISY?

Thanks for the guidance

I powered the PLM and connected it to the ISY

Then I powered the ISY

both led's on the back of the ISY lit... One was solid, the other was blinking

The front of the ISY had both the Power and RX lights lit

When I tried to launch the console I got the message "safe mode"The software can't find the PLM.

Appears nothing has changed from when Tech Support worked with you. The RX LED On solid indicates the ISY cannot communicate with the PLM. That is confirmed by Safe Mode as that is what happens to the ISY when it cannot communicate with the PLM.

If Tech Support has not already suggested try a different short cable between the PLM and Port A. After connecting with a different cable reboot the ISY.

Is the LED on the side of the PLM On?

The PLM is a 2413S (Serial), not a 2413U (USB).

If the PLM LED is On, it is a 2413S, and a new cable does not resolve you need to go back to UDI Tech Support. There is nothing more to try.

Again thanks for your guidance

I have tried new Cat 5e cords...no luck

Yes the PLM is lit and it is a 2413s

I tried all of this last week with Tech support...I've reestablished a help request.

I hope this is an isolated situation.

Thank you again

Paul

There are hundreds of users that work fine. With multiple PLMs doing the same thing, multiple short cables (3-5' range) doing the same thing, there is something about your configuration that is unique.

You do have 120v 60 cycle power?

Look at the Port A RJ45 jack on the back of the ISY. Are any of the gold wires inside the RJ45 jack out of position?

"yes everthing is on the same side of the bus"

Sorry I do not know what this means.

Confirm that the PLM is NOT connected to the ISY through an Ethernet patch panel. The PLM is connected to the ISY with a Serial connection, not an Ethernet connection. A Serial port has a much more limited cable length than an IP connection.

Hi

same side of bus means that in a 220 home wiring plan there are 2- 110 v buses... sometimes a bridge is needed to send powerline signals across the bus...in my case everything is on the same bus.

The PLM is directly connected to the ISY by a cat 5e cable

According the the user manual, the ISY-994 is connected to the PLM via "standard cat 5e patch cable".

This does make me wonder, however, if it is connected to the correct port. If you haven't already, it is probably worth confirming that the PLM is plugged into the "port A"

Hi Paul,

Please check your email. I think the unit you got was not new and thus there might be some programs in there that are causing a conflict. Sent you instructions to factory reset.

And, if you can get the contact information for your ebay seller, I would very much like to contact him and figure out his business model and warranty information.

With kind regards,

Michel
