I have GE Monogram Refrigetor and Washing machine. And LG Washer and Dryer. Do I need to install FilterLinc for all of them ?

It depends on whether they are causing problems. I have an LG washer and dryer that are not causing any problems. Why are you asking about these specific appliances? There are many things that may need a FilterLinc. UPS, various chargers such as cell phone and lap top chargers, some CFLs have been known to cause problems. Find the source of the problem(s) and then evaluate if a FilterLinc can resolve.

 

The washer/dryer should be easy to evaluate. Are comm problems only when the washer/dryer are in use? A FilterLinc cannot normally be used on a dryer anyway since they are usually 240v.

I am new to ISY994i. I just want to be cautious. In general, are Dishwasher, fridge and washer / dryer safe ?

I have had no issues with dishwasher, two different sets of washer/dryer and two different refrigerators. So much is being added to appliances now days, IP connections, various electronic controls, etc it is hard to say with absolute certainty that any given appliance will not cause an Insteon Mesh Network issue. For the dishwasher and washer/dryer it is easy to evaluate. If comm is good until one is running then it is a good bet the appliance that is running is a problem. The refrigerator is not as easy because it cycles on its own. It can be turned Off or unplugged for an hour or more with no concern over losing cold items.

 

It is the hardwired devices that can be hard to evaluate.

Not trying to hijack this thread but can a CFL cause a problem with communication even if it is not lit (not turned on)!?

I am having a few issues where I notice that sometimes 'status' lights are lit on keypads as responders when the main controller did not turn on via a timer/program properly.

If the CFL is Off. It should not be a issue.

Many times the symptoms are I can turn it On but not Off.

I don't know for sure, but given the "sense" current used by many insteon devices, I consider it a possibility. Furthermore, it is so easy to check by unscrewing the CFL (temporarily replacing with incandescent if needed) that I would not ignore the possibility.

Any device that turns on/off via a switch separate from the device is never going to be a problem when off. When off, they have been physically removed from the electrical system of your house. This accounts for about 99.99% of light bulbs (the insteon led bulb being one of the rare exceptions)
