jmac Posted November 8, 2013 Share Posted November 8, 2013 I bought a ToggleLink Relay (refurbished) a short time ago and the on/off switch works normally or so I thought. If you move to the On position the light will turn On/Off in that position. It also functions properly if moved up or down (on/off). Is this normal for this switch? LeeG Posted November 8, 2013 Share Posted November 8, 2013 The toggle is a spring loaded return to center device. The toggle should not remain in either the On or Off position. Situations where the device works (?) are described. Is this where the ToggleLinc can be commanded remotely and work but cannot be commanded remotely otherwise? LeeG Posted November 8, 2013 Share Posted November 8, 2013 The toggle is physically held in the Up position and the ToggleLinc can be turned On/Off remotely. The question is that normal, I have no idea. Cannot remember anyone holding the spring loaded toggle in one position or the other to see if it could be operated remotely in that position. Can you explain what you want to accomplish by holding the toggle in one position or the other. Of course any linked Responders that are Dimmers will ramp Up or Down when the toggle is held in the respective Up or Down position. Being a Relay device the load would turn On or Off immediately. Whether the device should accept commands while held in that position I do not know. Again, what is trying to be accomplished by holding the toggle Up or Down. Every time I move it from the center position to the UP position it will toggle the light on and off. Namely: center to up = On. ; center to up = Off. LeeG Posted November 8, 2013 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Click on the ToggleLinc node and see what is defined for the On Level (applied locally). I have only one ToggleLinc in the test bed and it does not react as described. The load turns On with the initial Up press and each subsequent Up press the load remains On. If the Local On Level was set to 0% On it might alternate between the Local On Level (0% On level = Off) and 100% On Level. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Alterating between On Level (applied locally) and 100% full On is consistent with the way a SwitchLinc works. The device is alternating between the defined Local On Level and 100% full On. Looking at a SwitchLinc Relay definition I see there is no way to set a Local On Level for a Relay device. Without a ToggleLinc Relay I cannot confirm the results you are seeing. They sound wrong but I have no way to objectively verify. The only other thing I can think to do would be to Factory Reset the ToggleLinc followed by a Restore Device to have ISY rebuild the device configuration. The factory reset corrected the problem initially, but the restore device brought it back to my current condition. By the way, where is the "firmware" indicated? It will list the modules model number six digit Insteon ID and firmware like v.3A If it was fine until restored. I would look for it being in a scene where the scene is turned On and the module is turned off. Yes an On to a scene can have modules in the off state. If you where doing a manual scene linking with the set button. It is possible to link it Off when the scene is turned On. LeeG Posted November 8, 2013 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Until the Restore Device was done the ISY/PLM would not be aware of the toggle activity. This opens up the possibility that a Program/Scene is affecting the results. Could also be some configuration data is being written into the device causing the result. For this I would Delete the device, Factory Reset the device, and add it back to the ISY. This will start the device with a clean configuration. I tried an experiment with one (v41), It allowed me to set a local ON level of either zero or full...nothing inbetween. This sounds correct to me. Pressing up once: the attached light turned on. This listing is headed by "network". The next level down is "my lighting". All insteon devices fall under "my lighting". Perhaps yours is different? Folks that have migrated a backup from a 99i to the 994i have "My Lighting" from the 99i. The ToggleLinc firmware is v.41 - " 2466S ToggleLinc Relay v4.1" The ToggleLinc hardware revision is on the paper label on the device.
