NHWA Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 With the Z wave beta's shipping soon, what level of control can be expect through mobilinc? Will thermostats, door locks, etc work?
MWareman Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I would imagine that at a minimum Z-Wave devices that are a part of a scene will be immediately controllable as any other scene member. Perhaps an Alpha user can confirm? I would also imagine that Z-Wave devices controlled via programs could be controlled from Mobilinc. Big question I have is with thermostats and other 'native' Z-Wave nodes. Does a Z-Wave stat or device show up in MobiLinc as a thermostat or native device?
InsteonNut Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Hi NHWA and MWarreman, MobiLinc for iOS supports the ZWave ISY. You should have status and control of your ZWave thermostats and devices. If you have any issues here, please let me know at support@mobilinc.com. MobiLinc for Android has limited support for ZWave. Wes
MWareman Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Can you define 'limited' with respect to Android support? I am 100% Android, but my Wife is 100% IOS, so I suffer greatly from the lack of feature parity between the two. Thanks, Michael.
InsteonNut Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Hi Michael, There is some crossover between how the ISY handles INSTEON and Z-Wave devices, but there is a big difference. INSTEON status is 0-255 and ZWave is 0-100. Some features of INSTEON and API work with ZWave but by in large most need tweaking in the app to get it working properly. The current Android release (1.2.4) is missing all of the ZWave specific tweaks. This is on our to-do list along with other feature parity items. If we are lucky enough to be chosen as a grant recipient from Chase we applied for, the grant will help us accelerate development in the Android space to catch up to iOS and implement our limited mobility goals. Wes
MWareman Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Good to know. Anything we can do to help your chances winning the grant?
InsteonNut Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hi Michael, Just think good thoughts for us! We hit over 300 votes this week, well beyond the 250 minimum required for consideration. At this point we just wait until January to hear the results and see which business were picked. Wes
KenN Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Just a heads up, I got the Z-wave module up and running yesterday and included four thermostats into the network (2gig CT100). They show up as lights on my Mobilinc Pro for Android.
InsteonNut Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hi KenN, Thank you for the report. The current Android version won't know what to do with devices reporting as a ZWave thermostat (unknown). It will default these to lighting elements. Full ZWave support is on our to-do list for Android. Wes
drewconner Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I just finished setting up my ZWave thermostats on my ISY. They do not show up at all in MobiLinc. I have manually re-synced and still nothing. If it turn on the setting to show empty folders, my HVAC folder shows up, but nothing is inside of it. Is there anything else I can try to get them to show up?
Xathros Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I believe ZWave support is coming in the next release due out in the near future. -Xathros
InsteonNut Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hi drewconner, Official ZWave support in iOS/Android is coming very soon. Watch this forum for announcements. Wes
