slopdog Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Hello there, I purchased my ISY99i a few years ago, got all my devices installed (good number of all types) and then I kind of put that project aside for a while. Now I am ready to start tinkering again and want to do a fresh start. I want to remove all settings from devices and ISY and start with a totally clean slate. Can someone please explain the best way to accomplish this? I realize I can restore from a backup but things are such a mess and I can't remember what I did so long ago. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
oberkc Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I would probably look in the manuals for each device, to find out how to factory reset everything. Then I would factory reset everything. Load up latest version for ISY-99 (3.3.10, or something like that) and start linking. Keep in mind that the -99 no longer receives updates. It is possible that it will not recognize some of the latest insteon devices.

If not, then I'll go through the manuals and refresh my memory on reset procedure for devices. My current ISY-99i does recognize all of my devices, just have switches, few trigger lincs and motion sensor. But I did just get two new keypadlinc 8 buttons, will those work with 99i? Maybe I should just upgrade to 994i since I'm starting fresh anyway. If I did do that, would all the module purchases i made be transferrable? I have the network and Mobilinc. And last question, would I need a new PLM if I upgraded?

There is an update program to move to a 994i. Check the UDI Web site. There is no program mechanism to factory reset individual devices. Yes, the modules can be transferred to a 994i. email UDI with the 99i and 994i UUID. The old PLM will work. Depending on how old it is it might make sense to purchase the latest version.
