Automaticforthepeople Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I am not sure how many Alarm.com customers there are out there. I am generally happy with the system but the inability to integrate it into robust home automation logic is a bit of a shame. It seems that their Platform Connect API may be a potential solution for ISY users. From what I understand the API is open only to industry partners. At present, this includes Craftsman (for garage door openers), Lutron (for lighting), and others. More information on this is available here: http://www.alarm.com/about/press/PressG ... px?cmid=77 This seems like a good fit for Universal Devices and the ISY.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Hello ds514, We will certainly investigate. With kind regards, Michel
Automaticforthepeople Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Is it implemented yet? Joking aside, it would be appreciated if you would post your decision to pursue, positive or negative, once it is made.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Hello ds514, We will surely let you know. With kind regards, Michel
thedishking Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 DS514 what panel are you using with Alarm.com? I have (and love) Alarm.com, and have it integrated into my ISY with GE Concord 4 security panel and the Autelis RS232 bridge for ISY.
Mike Ippolito Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 thedishking, Can you elaborate on your integration for the benefit of the group? ds514, I'm relatively confident that the alarm.com model would not mesh well with our security model. It has long been UDI's stance that cloud managed devices pose an inherent security risk and would not be something we would consider. Furthermore, unless I am incorrect, the alarm.com model charges customers to 'manage' devices on a per device or group of device model, and working with a bridge device like the ISY would be counter-productive to that model. This model will eventually reach a breaking point when customers demand that systems be more open and accessible, but for now it's their main source of recurring revenue.
Automaticforthepeople Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 thedishking, I am using a 2gig panel. As far as I am aware, there is no bridge, but I would be happy for someone to advise me otherwise.' Mike, I am sorry you don't see this meshing. As they do not share their API with consumers (i.e., only industry partners), it is not clear how the integration that exists is managed from a cost perspective.
thedishking Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I use a GE Concord 4 panel with Alarm.com. It is a traditional security system with hard wired keypads, hard wired zones, etc. Here is the link for Autelis products that makes the bridge necessary to talk to the ISY. Essentially what it does is provide two way I/O to the Superbus automation module and controls variables within the ISY. Changing a variable will change something on the GE Concord, and vice versa. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/11322-now-supporting-ge-concord-advent-security-alarm-panels/ Good luck.
pikach Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I have the 2gig as well with the alarm.com plan. They still dont have open API, but any idea if it would be possible to arm and disarm using network resources?
vtec2403 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Is it possible to leverage the WrapAPI work done for Homebridge? https://github.com/bryanbartow/homebridge-alarm.com Could you use network resources to call make these API calls?
