Insteon - Is Carried by Costco Canada Now

Featured Replies

A few weeks back I messaged Costco USA asking if they would consider selling Insteon in their Canadian web site.

I never received a reply to my e-mail but did get a pleasant surprise three days ago. The Costco.ca site now carries a limited amount of Insteon items. :D

Not as great as our brothers across the 49th parallel but its a great start! Lets hope this is a trend that will bolster the sale and the varied mixtures they carry.

I had talked to them a month back also as their ordering implies Canadian deliveries from Cost.com but will not follow through in the crunch when placing an order to be delivered to Canuckistan. I called them and got the "Just order through Costco.ca" standard answer. I also told them they were not available. This is good news!

Edit: I should mention that I did a search for "Insteon" on their webstore site almost every second day since December 1, as I know the online stores are all about marketing research. :)

As usual they priced them $1 below Bestbuy and both with free delivery http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/insteon-insteon-dimmer-switch-2477d-2477d/10233666.aspx?path=0ccfb2cdf3f29b607330f26d5a8f8bccen02

Aartech.ca has the same SwitchLinc for less at $51.99

http://www.aartech.ca/2477d-smarthome-insteon-dual-band-dimmer.html but charge $10 for shipping. Very good price considering our Canuck Buck sinking like a stone right now.

I don't know why cost.ca didn't bulk bundle them like the Costco.com did and make them a little cheaper. The free shipping has to be jerking the price up some. The 4 dimmers at $150 still only comes out to about $42 Canuck per unit. *Sigh*.

Like you said. It's a start. Maybe a few digs at them about quantity prices, in the usual Costco style, may help.

The Insteon Gods must be listening to my prayers. Costco.ca has added a few more items from the Insteon line up.

The price isn't outstanding at all but this is a positive direction. I am really hoping to see the four packs that are carried by the American Costco.com. Or rather the value packs which includes various devices from the line up.

All of you Canadian guys keep hitting the insteon in the search! This will drive the level of importance for this product.

Perhaps some searches and personal inquiries about the ISY being sold with the other parts to make it a "real" and "complete" home automation system complete? Maybe UDI could hit on Costco to handle it also?

The more people use the search feature in their portal the better!

This will drive the level of interest for Costco.ca that the customers want to see more etc.

Three more items have been added to the Costco.ca website. Everyone who enters a search query for Insteon will have promoted the interest and availability of the product!

Thank you, to those who have taken the time to look and push this product offering on the Canadian side!

Costco.ca has these back in stock!!

I bought two of these for a trial last year and was impressed but when I went back for more they disappeared from everywhere.

I have 6 of these now and for a 25% x 17W x 6 bulbs = 25 watts (some brighter, some dimmer) the whole gathering room is evenly lit for nice TV watching.

The FAST ON scene looks like an hospital operating room. 6 x 120W = 720W equiv.

Very nice bulb for pot lights. 40mm, being slightly larger than the PAR38 fills the 6" pot lights more completely.

120 degree dispersion give a nice soft light dispersion compared to the single exposed LED types. Better looking too.

120W equivalent give lots of light and more than the PAR38

Price is really decent, especially with the free shipping.

3000K gives a nicer light than the 2700K being pushed on people. Not more yellow than an incandescent. No yellow dimming.

Mine dim nicely to about 12%. No flickering.

It would appear that Costco.com is cutting back on Insteon items.

The MS package of two is not listed any more. I hope this is not an indicator of things to come.

Yeah, and did you see the Canadian side how the prices are all jacked up! :|

I noticed that too. I also thought it was odd that on/off switches were never available.

When ordering from Costco.com (US), it is really just an oder that gets sent to SmartHome. Still comes to me from Irvine and all. But in a plain brown box, instead of the box with the blue SmartHome lettering.

Yeah, as usual for Canuckistan! So many chains, like HD, Lowes and nor Target thought they would arrive and clean up. Later you hear them complaining it wasn't like they thought.

The best prices are still aartech.ca. When the Canuck dollar dropped again they maintained their prices very low. Most beat the US prices when you consider the exchange rate.

I always try to wait for their sales but it is so hard sometimes!... I need more toys! :)

I wanted to update this thread and advise those not aware the Costco.ca site carries 12-15 items that are all related to the Insteon line up.

Four of them are the various starter to advanced kits.

I was rather surprised they have offered the 2 wire switch, dimmer, relay, bulb, GDO kit, lamp linc, camera, and TSTAT. Shockingly, the American side has dropped all 4 pack offerings except the switch linc dimmers?

I was told the system basically removes any Adverts to a product until such time as its made available. Its been about three months and there are no signs of the 4 packs showing up in the Costco.com site?

Going to the Best Buy site has dropped all Insteon products save two which are the LED bulb and that ugly camera. I really wish we had a Menards, Lowes, HD that carried some of these products at a lower price point.

Sigh . . .

yeh, we shipped all of that stuff to Canada, last I heard.. :D

Oh God, I wish that were true.

I know I bought a few items at Best Bought and the versions were so far back I think the Insteon Addresses were negative!

My advice: stick with AARtech: great prices, great service, great support. They empty my wallet pretty consistently (including almost $500 today)

Ditto.

Although the last order for a new PLM I ordered from amazon.com. With shipping and 3 more MSes they beat them by $30. That isn't typical.
