ejh3 Posted February 15, 2014 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Good morning all! My Elk M1 install is underway, but I would like to get recommendations on hard wired Motion/PIR and Glassbreaks. I was looking into getting several DSC BV500GB for my main floors, probably about (4) of these. I see Smarthome actually has them on sale for 46.00. Does anyone here have experience with these? The sensor I am unsure about is the one I will put in my 30x30 unheated garage. My finished (sheet rocked) garage has an I beam running down that comes down about a foot off the 10.5' ceiling. I was thinking about putting a Bosch corner mount w/pet immunity and some sentrol flush mount Glassbreaks. That is unless I can find a corner mount w/glassbreak combo. A little off topic: with the UDI Elk module, it is my understanding that I can use the motions that I use for my Elk panel to interface/trigger programs within my isy. Is this correct? Scottmichaelj Posted March 13, 2014 Share Posted March 13, 2014 Ed, I am using the Bosch PIR in my living room and garage as well as the sentrol/interlogix glass breaks and have no complaints. FWIW I didnt install that extra plastic washer that comes with the glass break so I could keep them as small and unnoticeable as possible. I wouldnt bother with the glass break tester either, clapping your hands works just fine. When the systems is armed the glass break tester wont trigger the sensors, it needs the sonic waves to trip. You can use the PIR from the Elk with the ISY. IE anytime the motion is triggered an event can be as well.
