Fischerrw Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I was hopeing that someone may be able to guide me in troubleshooting. I have an elk m1 gold that is showing "input expander expansion module trouble" everything seems to be work but I am still getting this error. Can anyone help??
apostolakisl Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 That is a zone expander board. It is either a bad connection between it and the Elk or the board is failing. When you say "everything is working" do you have all zones registering?
Fischerrw Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Thanks foe the quick response. I have 2)M1XOVRs and 2)M1RBs. They are running my sprinklers. I cycled through and everything is still working. How do I determine which board is giving me the problem??
apostolakisl Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 None of those are input expanders. This is: https://www.123securityproducts.com/m1x ... 7AodiRAA2A Are you saying you don't have one of these? You only have 16 or fewer zones?
Fischerrw Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 I checked my enrollment screen, all I have is 1. Mikp2/kp3 keypad 2. M1xov® output expander 3. M1xov® output expander 4. M1xsp serial port expander 5. M1xep Ethernet expander
apostolakisl Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I don't know then. I would check all your wire connections to your boards. I suppose you could try disconnecting them one at a time and see what error messages you get. This way you'll know exactly what it says for each type of board. If memory serves me, however, none of those boards will say "input expander" trouble. Perhaps the serial port one says that. Have you tested it to see if it works? Also, check your Elk log and see what error messages are in there. It will have a number code with any errors and you can look those up in appendix A of the manual.
Fischerrw Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 I pulled the log, this is what it said Error code 1141=expansion module trouble output exp 2
apostolakisl Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 That would then appear to be your 2nd output expander.
