onewayvball Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Hi Everyone, I just got my ISY994i and PLM along with a wireless door sensor (2843-222) and was trying to link the two for the first time. Here are my steps after logging in 1.click on start linking icon 2. hold set button on for 3-5 sec (green light flashes every sec) I don't see any progress bar indicating the device is trying to link 3. press finish. I've tried factory reset which was recommended by supplier no luck. They think it's a DOA so will be shipping me another one shortly. My question is, I see an option to add the device manually I want to try that but not sure what the address is for the device. when i open it up i see a sticker that has numbers that looks like a date xx.xx.xx is that supposed to be the address? anyone have any similar issues? my goal is just to start small with a door sensor to send email alerts but it's not looking good so far. just wondering how reliable INSTEON hardware is. I also but the white IP cam which I really like but the mic doesn't work on that so it's going back for exchange. So I'm 0 for 2 with Insteon at the moment.
LeeG Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Battery powered devices have to be added using New INSTEON Device. Battery devices go to sleep very quickly to save battery life so Start Linking does not work. Manually put the Door Sensor into linking mode using its Set button. Within 4 minutes use New INSTEON Device. Be sure the Door Sensor is near enough the PLM as it is the only RF device available. xx.xx.xx is the device address. The Door Sensor is probably fine since battery devices cannot use Start Linking.
