Pool lights go on, then goes gradually out - Where to look?

Featured Replies

Help,

I've installed a Switchlinc Dimmer 2477D on a light switch that controls our in pool lights. These particular lights change color every few minutes (they in some way talk to each other about what color to change to simultaneously), but I do not have any more details on them. I have had the lights for awhile and they have worked without issue on the old toggle switch.

The lights will go on using the new switchlinc, but then gradually dim and go out over about a 3 minute period. The switch remains in the on position and visually indicates it is on.

Also, I have set the ramp rate to the minimum possible and tried double tapping to turn on.

Any tips on where to look, settings to change, or is this simply an indication of an incompatible type light?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like they have electronic controls and power supply.

2477D is a dimmer type and should not be used on electronic controls and power supplies. Unless you can verify they are compatible with a dimmer switch.

Best fix is a relay type Insteon Switch that is On and Off only. Like the original manual wall switch.

A 2477S maybe a better choice.

Brian H - I got the 2477S as you recommended, replaced the 2477D and it worked perfectly.

Thank you!
