Which is newer?

Confused. I am trying to figure out which switch is new. Insteon tells me 2334-232 is newer and that 2486DWH6 has been discontinued. My dealer tells me the opposite, that 2486DWH6 is what they are stocking and what they will continue to stock in the future.

Who is right? and what are the differences between the models???

The Power LIne Only 2486DWH6 is discontinued and if you search the Smarthome web site. It shows you the new Dual Band 2334-232 as the replacement.

If you are not dealing with Smarthome directly. Your dealer may have older stock or I have seen some dealers with modules that seem to be only made for them.

Not dealing with Smarthome directly, but with an insteon dealer directly. Maybe i'll inquire at Wynit and see what they stock. The other dealer says their 2486DWH is with the Simulcast software built in to communicate via RF and Powerline. Maybe they are mistaken as I did see otherwise on insteon

s website.

Just trying to avoid a situation when a client thinks i am selling them older equipment with less functionality.

The 2486DWH has no RF transmitting or receiving functions it is strictly power line communications.

I would check your source and see what they say.

You can also ask them for the FCC ID Number.

All Insteon modules with an RF transmitter in them has to have an FCC ID Number on its label.

It should start with SBP.

You can then look the FCC ID Number up here if you care to.

As everyone stated, the 2334 is the newest device and it's also dual band. The 2486 is PowerLine only and no longer made. If your setting this up as an installer, I would suggest going to smarthomepro.com and signing up for a dealer account. If that's not possible, at the very least, go to insteon. Com and check out what models are available.
