cslee Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Smarthome just released a network controller. Looks like they have studied the competition and tried to match them all. When will ISY get a nice GUI?
DaveGee Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Smarthome just released a network controller. Looks like they have studied the competition and tried to match them all. When will ISY get a nice GUI? Not to be a smart___ but... if Netlinc is anything like the other 'version one dot oh' products that Smarthome/INSTEON rolls out I don't think UD/ISY has too much to worry about IMHO... On a more serious side... the products spec sheet itself doesn't even hold a candle to all the things the ISY can do... but the OP is right.. the ISY really does need a prettier face... One that 'a spouse' can love... As for myself, I'm working on just that 'pretty face' for the iPhone/iPod touch (it will be a native app that runs directly on the iPhone and it will speak directly to the ISY -- no web pages or middle men) but I can't give anyone any ETA since anything I'm likely to say will more assuredly be wrong! Michel Kohanim Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hello cslee, You and Dave are both 100% correct: we do need a facelift. On the other hand, we also need to add important features and, so far, we have chosen the path of adding features. This said, however, by providing almost 95% of all the APIs that our Admin Console utilizes in the form of WSDL (+ JSDK), we are hoping that third parties (such as interfaceGo/Dave) would create beautiful interfaces for ISY so that: a. Customers will have a variety of choices based on their needs b. Our developers do not spend their time in vain c. UDI can concentrate on the foundation Unlike other companies, we really do believe in the power of cooperation! With kind regards, Michel Smarthome just released a network controller. Looks like they have studied the competition and tried to match them all. When will ISY get a nice GUI?
