llema Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Hi all, I have a small program to write the outside temp from weather module to Elk keypad... it's working, i.e. displaying outside temp on "Security" screen in the Elk, but the problem is that screen goes away after a few minutes of inactivity. It switches to a "sleep" screen that displays date and time as well as a button to go into "Security" or "Home Automation". I would like to display my outside temp on this screen... anyone know how to accomplish this? Otherwise the display to keypad option is kind of lame for the Nav Touchscreen...

When mine goes to sleep it doesn't go black, instead the light just dims so it it's so bright all the time. There is a setting somewhere to set the dimness level of the sleep mode.
llema Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Mine doesn't go black, it goes to a different page with 2 buttons...one for "Security" and one for "Home Automation". That's the screen I would like the messages to show on.
jmed999 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Hmmm. I have the Elk Nav screen too but mine doesn't go to a different page with 2 buttons. My temp scrolls across all the time.
DennisC Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Do you have some kind of lock or password requirement enabled to reach the security screen? I have my screen set to dim after a time period, but all I need to do is touch the screen to wake it up and my keypad is visible along with the exterior temperature scrolling across the top of the screen. This was set up by following the Elk instructions. Dennis
llema Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 No lock or password to reach either. I can't for the life if me figure out what is causing this screen to activate after a few seconds of in activity. I set this system up a while back and just recently started playing with displaying text. I sure wish I could disable this screen or figure out how to send text to it.

I've seen that screen before but mine doesn't normally show that screen. You may want to try posting a question on the cocoontech forum. They will be able to help you.
DennisC Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Are you running the latest firmware for the Nav keypad?
DennisC Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 The screen shown in your picture is an optional home page added 12/2012. I found the following in the firmware release notes which can be downloaded from the Elk Products support page on their website. Follow the directions to disable. Regards, Dennis Dec 17, 2012 - M1KPNAV New application firmware (1.0.14) M1KPT_1.0.14_ELK.bin Changes effective with this Firmware version: 1) Added a new optional Home Page screen. When enabled, this new page appears after approximately 30 seconds of no key press or beep activity. This page has a dark background with very limited but highly pertinent information displayed. On this screen you will find the Day, Month, Date, Year, and Time across the top of the screen. Along the bottom will be the Alarm Company Information and Telephone number. In the middle of the display will be two boxes which are also touch buttons labeled Security and Automation. The borders and text on this screen are color coded to make it easier to see the state of the alarm system from a distance. - If the alarm system is armed to the away mode the borders and text will be color coded RED. - If the alarm system is armed to the stay mode the borders and text will be color coded YELLOW. - If the alarm system is disarmed the borders and text will be color coded GREEN. NOTE: The Automation button is not functional and will be grayed out whenever the alarm system is armed. This new optional Home Page screen may be enabled or disabled from the KPNAV Menu>Keypad Settings screen. Touching the box next to “Enable Home Screen†will check (enable) or uncheck (disabled) the option. This new screen appears prior before the standard keypad screen and allows client to jump directly either to the standard keypad screen or directly to the Automation menu option. with the following features;
