Hi all,

I have study the Insteon's Developer Guide's datasheet (INSTEON_Developers_Guide_20090218.pdf) few times already. However, still got something not that understand.

Do you guys know about what is

1. All-Linking mode?

Is develop an application in pc base with PowerLinc Modem need to deal with this?

2. Database

Is any device got one database inside it? PowerLinc Modem also got this database? Is developers have to deal with this?

As mentioned, most here won't have used the PLM directly.

If you get the Insteon developer kit http://www.smarthome.com/insteon/sdk2600s.html that gives you access to the Insteon forums, which is a better source of information.

I used to work on an open-source application that made use of the PLM directly, so I will take a quick shot

All-Link is just the process for linking devices. You can do it programmatically (like ISY does) by sending certain commands, some that the PLM processed internally, and some that the PLM sends on to the target device.

The PLM and devices will maintain their own databases...you can choose to manipulate them if you desire, but I wouldn't try that right away.

Your application would probably also need a database, but that depends entirely on your application.

As LeeG mentioned, the SmartHome forums or the Insteon developer forums would be a better place to start.

The Developers Group Forums are almost dead. I have not seen any posts in over a month.

Not many new or updated documentation files either.

Members are also bound by a Nondisclosure Agreement. So anything you see in the forums and documentation you can't share with the world.

If you want Insteon Engineering help. You have to pay for it!

Was great when I joined in 2005 but lots have changed lately.

Hi guys,

I have successfully Link my LamLinc Dimmer Dual-Band #2457D2 and LED Bulb 2672-222 through PLM 2413U.. So my 2413U PLM already got the these two responders info.. I did this through linux serial programming and get the respond messages from these two devices too.

May I know how many responders I have already link in the PLM? Any serial commands I need to call / invoke to get these info?
