B Status 0% Fri 2014/07/04 07:15:28 AM System Log When I got home from vacation I noticed that something was wrong with the system, including the fact that the ERROR light on the 994 was solid ON. Unfortunately I did not notice the status of the other 994 lights……….. I unplugged the 994, waited a minute and plugged it back in, and everything was back to normal. But in the meantime, for two of the three weeks of my vacation, it appears that the ISY was effectively offline…… clearly not a desirable situation. Questions Is there some setting on the ISY that would force a reboot under those circumstances? Is there anything I could have done from several thousand miles away on vacation in order to recognize the issue and/or fix this? (Short of having my neighbor go in the house and reset the ISY). Do I need to get a UPS for the ISY? Or the Web Power Switch as recommended in the forum? Or both? As always, any guidance from this forum greatly appreciated! ISY Novice in Dallas
Teken Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) As you're probably aware my solution was to deploy a web enabled power switch. That allows me to remotely turn on, off, cycle the power. It also allows me to ping any network device and react to that state. Others have coupled the above by crafting a ISY program as a watchdog timer etc. In my home, I also have a dedicated 1080P HD IP camera that alerts me if any of the network LED's are on. I use this as a failure over measure because you can actually have a device ping back but in real world its still hung up. The analytic software is geared toward force protection in high security applications. I have simply used a million dollar software package in a very dumb down fashion! Placing the ISY-994 Controller on a UPS in my mind is simply good practice and makes sense. For me its not about being able to control the home etc. More as ensuring my investment does not endure a shorter life due to dirty power or uncontrolled electrical events. Its a little hard to justify a UPS for one piece of gear but if you bundle it up to a decent sized unit and back up multiple devices it kind of softens the blow. Edited July 19, 2014 by Teken
Michel Kohanim Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Hello justin.cool, I am so very sorry to hear. Do you have any Sonos or DirecTV or massive UPnP devices? Please send a link to this post to support@universal-devices.com and i'll send you a link to a firmware release. With kind regards, Michel
justin.cool Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 Michel, Thanks as always for the prompt response..... I have sonos and DirecTV......... I will send a link as requested..... Kind regards, Justin
Michel Kohanim Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Thanks Justin. We did find a bug in our UPnP framework whereby incessant UPnP bombardment (both DirecTV and Sonos especially if there are more than a couple of Sonos installed) caused an exception. This has been fixed and hopefully will address all issues related to UPnP. With kind regards, Michel
