Teken Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Somehow, I got most of working again. The MorningLinc for my door lock didn't get restored so I deleted it to start fresh. I plug in the address and select MorningLinc under device type but I get an error message saying it can't be added because it cannot determine the Insteon engine. Now what? Have you tried using both methods to add the device?
Vince Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Yes, did "Link a ControlLinc" and "Add a New Device" several times; nothing

Vince Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 I did select the MorningLinc from the drop down. Link a ControlLinc is the menu item.
LeeG Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 The MorningLinc has special requirements. Check the Wiki for the procedure to prelink before adding with the "keep existing links" option. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Linking_a_MorningLinc
Vince Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 OK, it shows up as a device, but I can't operate the door lock from the console. I can operate the lock from a RemoteLinc so I know the MorningLinc and the lock are talking.

Vince Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Yes, I did. That is how I got it to show up on the console.. so, now I hit Restore Device and got the cannot communicate with device message.
LeeG Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 With the MorningLinc and RemoteLinc communicating it indicates the MorningLinc was not reset before adding to the ISY. That may be why the Restore Device does not work because the MorningLinc link data base is not correct. Suggest Deleting the MorningLinc, doing a factory reset, and then follow the Wiki procedure again. The MorningLinc has special link requirements for security reasons which make it sensitive to link procedures. Probably best to link the RemoteLinc and MorningLinc with the normal Admin Console function rather than using restore device.
Vince Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Lee, thanks for the advice. That is exactly what I did and all is well now. Thanks to all of you who chimed in. That is what makes the forum great.
