Random posting settings

It seems if I post without quoting on an existing thread the text editor has random font settings. This isn't apparent until the post is submitted.

 

 

I have seen and experienced postings with subscript on as the most common weird setting. This doesn't seem to happen when quoting. Perhaps the injected text sets the font for the editor.

 

 

Using IE 11 and Java 7 something. Was Java 8 and returning to Java 7 didn't cure any problems. Java 8 is somewhat faster on Win 7x64 though.

Testing a reply with IE 11, not quoting, and not using any of the editor controls.

Well, that posted as expected.

 

Are you using the Fast Reply box, or the Full Editor ("More Reply Options" button)?

 

And can you please disable all browser addons temporarily, then try the same action again and post the result in this topic?

^{I us the fast reply box but I don't think it happens everytime. This time it did. Sometimes it is a different colour or font size too.}

After a reboot the font seems fine now. I wonder if having Java 8 installed and then going back to 7 has caused something? My desktop, Win 7x64 is using Java 8, with several updates now, and it works fine. I don't remember weird stuff on it lately but it gets used much less lately also.

I've had exactly;y one occurrence of a subscript font being used in a post without me knowingly selecting the subscript button.  That said, I cannot guarantee that I did not inadvertently click said button myself.  Otherwise, this new forum has been mostly stable and predictable for me aside from the database issues last week.

I tried visiting the other forum, running the CAI software and a few other frequented favourites with no success. I suspect this Java has been doing nasties to me since the last downgrade to Java 7. It seemed to start about the new forum time and I dumped Java 8 after not being able to quote and other features here.

That.... does sound like an issue at your end with caching or java-related.

 

So is everything working correctly now?

 

If it is, I'm fairly sure that was the issue.

 

But if not, please let us know.

It seems to be posting OK now but this problem has come and gone for a few months now. I'll report here again if it crops up again.

Please do report back if this reoccurs and emptying your browser cache doesn't help.
