jmed999 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I haven't been receiving texts or emails from programs in a month or so. It worked great for a couple years then I didn't get any. The only thing I can think of that may be related is I had to replace my PLM about the same time I stopped getting the notifications. Any ideas? Thanks!
Techman Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Check your error log to see if there are any communications errors, also check your ISY configuration to make sure that all the email parameters are correct. Whose server are you using for emails?
jmed999 Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 I'm using Gmail. Thanks. I'll double check the email parameters. What should they be?
Xathros Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) smtp.gmail.com on port 587 with TLS checked and timeout at 5000ms works for me. Make sure you haven't enabled 2 factor authentication at Gmail, otherwise you will need to get a special device password set to allow the ISY to authenticate without using 2 factor auth. -Xathros Edited October 8, 2014 by Xathros
jmed999 Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 That's it! I did start going with 2 factor authentication. How can I still get notifications and use 2 factor authentication?
Xathros Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) I have heard someone say that Gmail can issue a special device specific password for those things that do not support 2 factor auth. I'll see if I can google that out for you. -Xath EDIT: And Google says: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/1173270?hl=en The keyword is: Application Specific Password Edited October 8, 2014 by Xathros
builderb Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I can confirm that I am using gmail for notifications, with 2-factor enabled. You just generate a one-time code for use as a password. It's been working fine here.
